HTC Hero :: New Orange ROM Accepting Unlock Code
Feb 6, 2010With the earlier Orange ROM , even if we enter the unlock code, the hero shows a screen with message "unlocking " and this screen remain for ever.Anyone has idea if this issue is fixed with new orange ROM released in feb 2010.(i.e the code should unlock the mobile without any issue)

Jul 6, 2010Can someone explain to me a few things please: If you unlock your phone with a code, does that mean you can put any sim into it? If so, does it re-lock onto the new network/sim that you put it? and if so, can you unlock it again with the same code or is it permanent?Secondly, I understand that if you debrand an Orange Desire, you can install a generic ROM, but if you do an OTA update, the phone screws up (loses wi-fi) as you have updated the radio version which is incompatible with Orange and you then have to Unlock the phone to make it work again. Does this work permanently?Also, in relation to this, if you apply an unlock code first, can you then use the OTA update from HTC and not have your phone screw up? As it is no longer an "Orange" handset, or is the phone always hard coded to Orange in some way?

Jan 2, 2014I have an xperia X8 with some naa kernel and xperiadroidx 6.1.The thing is that with this custom kernel and ROM when i put a SIM from another network carrier, the question asking for the SIM-unlock code input is not showing up. (this appeared before when phone was in stock state).Is it possible to do it without re-flashing to stock?
...or i have to put back the phone to stock? What is the easiest/safest/best way to do this? using the restore option in "PC companion" SE app? Is it only needed to put the stock kernel and ROM, or Do i also need to re-lock the bootloader?
I don't need the whole explanation, just a little guidance, just a few tips to know what to do, then i can google/search myself for the specifics on how to actually do it.

Apr 15, 2010Excuse me if this is due to my poor understanding of mobile internet.When in my office at work the signal bars on my phone will be either 2 or 3 out of 4. The 3G icon is also present.When, For example, I try to go onto the Market the connection seems very poor. The 3G icon will get the arrows showing that 3G data is being transferred and sometimes it will drop down to a H icon.I then get the message "A network error has occurred, retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen".This happens with all other apps, internet etc as well.I bought the phone with a orange PAYG from Carphone warehouse and put my Orange Monthly pay sim in.When I am outside or even in a different area of the office the internet works fine.If my phone was showing 1 bar and no 3G icon I would accept that it is just too bad signal in the office but as I have nearly full signal and the 3G icon is there another problem?

Jun 29, 2010Just got my Desire and having problems (like a lot of others) sending emails. My googlemail account is fine but my pop3 account with Pipex will only receive. I have checked and have the same outgoing settings as my home pc (smtp.dsl.pipex.com) but this doesn't work. Someone suggested I used smtp.orange.co.uk but got the message cannot connect to server.

Sep 20, 2010Im not sure if its the orange network that might be at fault or the phone? It was happening when I was running it on Orange branding quite a lot, it seems to be doing it less now with the standard ROM but still is.
Whats happening;
On occasion when I send a text (with seemingly strong reception) it instantly says its failed. I know when I manually send it again people tell me that they received it more than once. That to me makes it look like the phone is sending the message but saying it failed.

Jul 27, 2010Ive recently bought a HTC Desire on orange contract and the phone appears to be debranded and unlocked. There is no evidence of orange applications in the menu and my other vodafone sim works with it too! Is there anyway to work out whether this has the generic HTC unbranded rom or not? And does that mean i will get the Froyo update when HTC release it?

Oct 19, 2010A few weeks ago I registered for that network thing, back then I was using the HTC Hero. At first it would work, then if I turned my phone work, it would say "Sim can not be registered to this Network" and when I searched for other Networks, only Orange would appear.
When I got the Desire, I can never seem to get this to work still. Orange has terrible signal in my area although there site says its amazing. I never have network in my own home. and Im not sure I have ever saw full bars on my Desire.
So my question is, does yours work 24/7 if you have it. Does anyone else get the sim not registered thing after a reboot and how can I actually set it up properly cause I may be doing it wrong. p.s I have roaming n etc on

I bought my HTC Desire from T-Mobile Montenegro with prepaid SIM. After i leave the Montenegro i change to my Orange card, and get the "SIM network unlock PIN" message. I purchased the unlock code from globalunlock.com - Global Unlock - The Official Mobile Phone Unlocking Site. After i inserted the code i get the "Invalid Password" message. (By the way the company have no support, no refund, nothing, don't buy from them) I was wonder if there will be some suggestions how to solve this problem?

Sep 26, 2010I have my new desire for almost a week now. I am trying to unlock it (it's locked to telus). I have tryed many website (mobileincanada, cellunlock) but they still answer me that the didn't receive the codes for ''new'' Desires.I didnt ask a refund from cellunlock because he told me that if he doesnt have it, no one else will have it.so I'd better wait (1-3 buisness days) after 3 buisness days they still don't have it.I've spoken to an other admin from htccode dot com and they can 'give it a try'because they have acess to ''all' databases. I'm not into asking a refund from cellunlock and be stucked again with htccode.Can someone explain me the theory of 'new databases' Vs 'old databases'?How do these buisness work? Apr 14, 2010I have the HTC Desire with Android 2.1. I sync it with exchange, but it tells me I have to have a "phone unlock code" to sync with exchange. This more or less ruins the phone for me, as I have to type a password EVERY single time the screen locks (or go to standby). Only way I can see around it is forwarding all my exchange mail + syncing all my exchange contacts and my exchange calendar with g-mail, but that is a rather poor solution I think : I have g-mail sync running as well, and that does not require me to have a "unlock password" Does anyone know a way to get around this annoying "you must have an unlock code to sync with exchange" issue?

Nov 9, 2009I just have a couple of quick questions regarding the 500MB anytime mobile internet browsing per month which I got included in my plan. When I use my Hero to go on the internet via my wifi at home- when it connects to my wireless router- does that count towards the 500mb or is that totally free? If so, is it the 3G when I don't have a wifi connection available that goes towards that 500mb? Sorry if it's a little obvious, but I don't wanna be going over my limit on internet and be paying a stupidly high amount!

Jul 23, 2010I am toying with the idea of putting a Froyo Rom on my desire, but have several questions that aren't answered in other posts.
1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?

Jul 10, 2010I put modoco's 2.1 custom ROM on my phone and when I booted up my my phone it came up with the message SIM network Unlock Pin, so far I've contacted Orange and they refuse to help me unless I pay them 170 and they say its something wrong with the phone.
