I installed Handcent and then decided I didn't need it. So I uninstalled it. Since that various apps etc launch and give me the option to use Handcent or the Default app. How do I reset this, so that handcent isn't mentioned and the apps etc open correctly.

I saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?

It's even in a different language, it doesn't come up in the list for uninstalling or managing applications and when I use astro to track it down to the system>apps and try to delete it that way it says error.
Anyone know any other methods?
So I wanna uninstall stuff that came with the device. It is an unlocked device, not from any telecoms company. I wanna uninstall teeter for example and Peep and Stock as I do not use these apps.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwell i just rooted and installed this rom [ROM-FroYo] Official Froyo HTC Sense ROM (16/07 v1.0c | OpenDesire Team) - xda-developers. everything went perfect, i reinstalled a few games and put hte majority on my sdcard etc, then i installed an internal memory monitor widget which showed me to have only 31mb remaining! surely this cant be right, it even says it is in settings and that is the exact amount of memory i had left before rooting, plus when i uninstall an app saved to the phone memory it wont budge off 31mb, anybody had this problem before?

It is now sitting in my list of downloaded apps in the Market app (not the installed list) and it says purchased. There is an install option, which if pressed tries to download it again, but fails because it has been blocked. I don't want the app now and just wish to clear this from my download list. A while ago I got rid of Handcent because it was very laggy following updates.Having heard this had been fixed, I have downloaded it again and it's no longer laggy which is great.However, it is draining the battery. I know this because I've had the System Panel monitor on, and the history shows that the CPU usage for Handcent is high for about 15-20 minutes after I send a message (as opposed to the stock, which just goes down as soon as I've sent a message).Is there a setting somewhere on Handcent that I'm missing, that's keeping the CPU usage high?

View 47 Replies View RelatedI posted a while ago about handcent (great sms program) and my thoughts on it clashing with the mail scheduling peak/offpeak, after installing 2.2 on and using only STOCK apps all has been well.But I installed latest handcent again 6 days ago and the stock mail app connecting to my exchange 2003 email server has stopped working for scheduled and peak times.I have uninstalled 2 days ago and i still have to manually start and stop the manual/push every morning and night. the only way i can see this fixing is doing a factory reset (which i am sick of doing)handcent have not commented about this and I am baffled as to why handcent would /could affect this process.

I have set it up a few times but every time I get a text message, it is he usual green, slow flash - and even then it doesn't always work.
