I have a Desire and cannot sent MMS,I can receive but can't send.I contacted vodafone and asked for the setting,which they emailed me. However,they allowed me to send MMS but stopped me accessing websites.
Can anyone help me with this, what are the settings to allow me to do both please?Also My friend had Desire HD and it having the same problem, would the settings be the same as the Desire?

On cupcake builds we are unable to open IM app from main menu. When we open the app, it gets closed immediately and adb logs show the following error.

It is trying to load some thirdpartyplugins in packages/apps/IM/src/ com/android/im/app/FrontDoorPlugin.java file. Here it is getting plugins count zero and after that the app gets closed. Do we need some thirdpartyplugins for this to work?
My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
Can I send an email without invoking any activity (with Send/SendTo action)? Just compose a mail and send to recipient from my application.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had my HTC Desire for about a month now and have got to grips with it apart from one thing.For the life of me i cant get it to send my video clips in Multi Media Messages? I keep getting the WARNING - Message size limit reached.Some of these clips were between 10-20 seconds long.I dont think it's the camcorder settings af i have reset to default.I can attach them in an Email no problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently on my Desire I'm using LeeDroid 2.2d, which is very nice. Partitioned my SD card for a2sd+ so I've got over 100mb free of internal memory, and can install as many apps as I want, which is great. The caveat - I can't send people pictures, and their pictures won't come through either, though I don't have this issue with people who have iPhones. Other people with Desires cannot MMS me and I cannot MMS them back, nor can my wife with her Samsung Slyde (we're with Telus in Canada). Basically on either end we get a message that says "Generic network failure" whenever an MMS attempts to download. It repeats this message over and over for a few hours, which is extremely annoying, especially when I'm the recipient.
I assume, as it did with my stock Telus 2.1 before I rooted, that MMS will work fine if I use the very-recently-released Froyo from Telus. I know that to some degree I will be able to move apps to SD with this, but not to the extent that a2sd+ does, where using a 512mb partition on your SD card to imitate phone memory, it saves an enormous amount of precious internal space.
What would you do? Is there a way to get a2sd+ for this new Telus? Or even better, is there a way to make MMS work properly under LeeDroid?
I cant send emails from my phone! i have asked this question a coupple of times and no-one will help. i can recive my emails via the htc mail app but i cant send them, i am using hotmail, and i am on vodafone please can somone find me some settings that work because i cant.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to do this to a group with more than 6 people, it converts the message to a mms and wants to use there email and wont add any more than 10 contacts.This way is messed up, I have made several groups of 7 different sets of contacts, They all change to MMS Message when selecting any of those groups.I can send a group message by doing the below actions without any problem for some reason though, Which TBH is just more hasse.

flood it for example - doesn't appear on his wildfire YET it does on mine. does the marketplace block certain apps depending on what phone your using?
Tried to send a text to a group yesterday. The group has 14 people in it.
My desire said it was limited to 10 people.
Anyway around this, or have I just not found a setting somewhere.
I got the desire sometime back, awesome phone, has everything one wants.
But I have not been able to send vcard from the phone, pls anyone help. Everytime I try to send it shows generic failure.
Ok, any time I try to send a photo over MMS it just sits in my inbox going no where. I'm using a rooted ROM and handcent, changed the sent settings to 1Mb for file size so that should'nt really be a problem (photos are only 80k). Am I missing something obvious?
View 11 Replies View Relatedso from what I've read in this forum (yes, I've tried), I need to do something to my APN settings to get my MMS to work. My questions are:
1) How do I change the settings? I only have one (Telus SP) and it's locked. I can't change anything whatsoever
2) What are the right settings supposed to be?
3) Does the phone need to be "rooted"? I don't even really know what that entails, I just know you need to root a phone before you can do some things.
How do i send a text to someone not in my contacts? If i click on the bit where i add a contact it will only bring up my contacts on my list. No option for just a number?

When I try to ring someone it just beeps and ends the call. When someone rings me it says unavailable. Nor can i send or receive texts. I?ve spoken to my network operator and everything is fine on their end and also got a new sim card from them just in case it was a sim card fault. Anyone know what the problem could be?

When i set it up initially the outgoing server was an ntl one which was suprising as i've always had to use o2 on other phones but it worked a treat on my ntl. but now its only sending mails if i am on home wifi connection not on the 02 network.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince getting the phone a month ago, it has downright refused to send an SMS to one of my contacts. It is someone that I could send txts to with my old phone, and I can call and receive calls and texts from them on this one, but it simply refuses to send a text! Each time it gives me an error message saying 'unable to send after multiple attempts', and retrying just keeps giving me the same error. Getting help from my network provider they pulled the SIM and then put it back in and it worked! For one txt. After that it has continued to fail. They replaced the SIM and it has still failed. Is there any chance this is a problem with the phone?

I can receive emails (set up as POP3) but the outgoing server just tells me there is a connection error. I'm on orange with an NTLworld account. For the outgoing SMTP server I have tried:

smtp.orange.net
smtp.orangeworld.co.uk
Either port 25 or 465 (found on the net - not orange's website) Leave the 'sign in' unticked. Is this a problem with FroYo or me being a numpty?
A very useful feature has gone missing or am I missing something? I use this facility a lot but now the link is gone from google maps.Only options are e-mail, GPS etc but no text to phone. Has this been pulled?

In the operators manual it tells me how to send by email, talks about flickr and twitter and Facebook but no mention of sending via messages. I have tried without success, a message bounces back telling me that there is a 'generic network failure', but I use my Nokia with the same network and that works.
Its no big deal I suppose, more of an irritation really Gents?
I cannot send an email with an attachment using the Gmail app on this phone. I tried to send three different photographs to three different email addresses and it failed every time. Emails without attachments go perfectly every time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy phone has worked without a problem till last nite. I had a few texts and calls early eve with no issues at all then later on when I tried a text it kept giving me a 'message not sent' message? At first I thought it was an Orange issue so didn't worry too much but this am it's still the same? On doing a bit of investigating I have found I can no longer make calls either. If I try it it doesn't even get too a dial tone it just beeps and returns to the initial call screen.
The phone is showing full signal strength? When I go too call settings>additional settings it shows 'network or SIM error'. I have put my SIM into another phone and it works fine and another SIM that I know works into my Desire and have the same issues so it must be the handset. What do you lot suggest? If I do a factory reset will I loose all my photos etc. from my memory card? Or could I just un-mount it and then reset?
I've been using my HTC Desire without a problem but for the last couple of weeks I have been getting unable to send notifications when sending texts. This can be almost instantly after hitting the send button. I'm on three. My friend has the same handset and he is on oange and is getting the same thing so is this a handset thing or are we both doing something wrong. If you leave the desire to do it's stuff it will send it. On other occasions it goes no problem.

The only problem with this its that i receive emails straight away i can access any attachments and view the majority of them which is great, however when i try to send, it attempts then after a minute or so it comes up unable to send mail. i have tried changing the priority of these emails for high to low but have no luck. My settings are:
incoming
Protocol: POP
POP server: pop3.live.com
security type: SSL
server port: 995
Outgoing
SMTP server: hotmail.co.uk

I have just received my HTC desire, and setting up my email settings. I have three different email accounts, and set them all up. I set up the incoming server settings all fine, but when I put in the details for the outgoing server settings, and press NEXT button, I get the following each time: 'Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding.' This happens on all three accounts. I have used the same settings as on my computer which works when sending the emails on my computer. I finish the setting it up, but ofcourse I can receive emails, but can't send any.

I tried sending a picture from another phone to my handset (desire) and it received okay but when i tried sending a music file, it said sending and receiving but never came through, not even 1% of it.. but screen stayed on receiving part for ages before i got fed up and cut off.
