HTC Desire :: Can't Send Email After DeFrost Update
Jul 16, 2010
if this is in the wrong section but since I've updated to 2.2 (using Lekky's fantastic guide), I'm unable to send emails and just can't think what I'm doing wrong. I can receive emails (set up as POP3) but the outgoing server just tells me there is a connection error. I'm on orange with an NTLworld account. For the outgoing SMTP server I have tried:
smtp.orange.co.uk
smtp.orange.net
smtp.orangeworld.co.uk
Either port 25 or 465 (found on the net - not orange's website) Leave the 'sign in' unticked. Is this a problem with FroYo or me being a numpty?

just changed to defrost rom. works brilliant this time! Only problem is the email. on the default rom it allows you to skip past options if it cant connect to it. eg not been able to connect to your smtp server. if it canbt connect it says cant promise it will work while sending but you can continue. if that makes sense lol. With this one if it doesnt connect it wont let you. My email smtp is smtp.dsl.pipex.com However i believe the three network which i am on block the port this ISP uses. so i cant send mail from my phone. How can i get round this? im not to bothered about the fact i cant send but because of the menu option it wont let me finilize to recieve? im so rubbish at explaining myself Hope this makes sense guys?

Flash (in clockworkMOD) a .zip file containing a themed HTC IME Mod, however, it is not installing properly.
I have the keyboard in apk file. I place this in a folder called app and that is in a folder called system. I then sign the file and save it as a .zip (I have created other files and they have worked perfectly). The problem is, the HTC_IME in DeFroST is already installed, and my themed one is not over writing the one which is on the ROM as standard. I have tried to change the name to the same as it is in the ROM (HTC_IME_hi22.apk) within the system/app folders, but this still didn?t change it. Am I missing something here?

I can't get my Nokia BH-214 Bluetooth Stereo headset to work with my HTC Desire.I have previously had it working fine with the stock HTC sense & the LeeDroid ROM. I have recently loaded the DeFRost 4.6 ROM.I can get it to pair OK and it appears in the 'Bluetooth Devices' list as 'Paired but not connected', when I try to connect I get a 'Cannot establish communication with Nokia BH-214' error.I am guessing this ROM does not support the A2DP standard. Is there a workaround?

With the Desire, is it possible to send photos by SMS?
In the operators manual it tells me how to send by email, talks about flickr and twitter and Facebook but no mention of sending via messages. I have tried without success, a message bounces back telling me that there is a 'generic network failure', but I use my Nokia with the same network and that works.
Its no big deal I suppose, more of an irritation really Gents?

I'm new to Android having just bought an HTC Desire HD. Great piece of kit but I'm having a lot of problems with connectivity of various apps, especially email and market. Last night, my phone offered an OS update, which I accepted. Since then, my MS Exchange push email has stopped working. I can still sync manually from the email folder, but emails are not being pushed to the phone. Nothing's changed on the exchange side.
Questions:
Anyone else seen this behvaiour?
If so, is there a fix / work-around?
Is there a way to see an OS updates install history?
Is there a way to roll-back an update?

I have searched and haven't been able to find any threads with one of my issues, so I apologize in advance if I missed one. Anyways, my DX has been working flawlessly since I got it back on 10/6. Sunday, 10/31, my DX quit syncing just my corporate Exchange 2003 emails, then yesterday it started not sending emails as well and now, this morning, it quit syncing my personal email. Corporate email will sync manually, just not push. I have rebooted several times, pulled the battery several times, and also deleted both my Exchange account and my personal account and re-added both and the problem still persists. I don't have any task killer apps installed and haven't recently added any apps since the issues started. Anyone have an idea what may be causing the lack of push (in and out) on both of my accounts?

I want is to automatically compose an e-mail with a subject line, recipient address and an image attachment, and an e-mail app should then pop up with this automatically composed message, to let the user decide whether to send, edit or discard the message.

Finally decided to bite the bullet and make an account.
Yesterday I bought my first android phone (LG Optimus 2x). Rooted it succesfully today and downloaded Bloat Freezer. I froze several applications successfully, but I think I went a step too far and froze somthing vital. Now my phone will not get past the intial 'StarHub' screen when turning on.
I have tried several things to try and fix this. I have tried unrooting the phone - this has not worked. I have also tried running the NVFlash and this has also yielded no results. I've tried the hard reset (holding volume keys when turning on) however it seems to freeze and nothing tends to happen.
My question therefore is, is it possible to defrost/unfreeze applications via computer?

I am currently using a x10i (x10?) on tmobile, i have the data plan ($10), and have my email connected via gmail. however, it seems like i have to do manual refresh in order to get email update. Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.

I cant send videos through my Gmail or stock email app via Yahoo. I can attach the video but when I click send it just sits in the outbox for a long time then I get a "message not sent" error in the notification bar. This notification keeps popping up till I go into the outbox and delete the Email.Is this a problem with the EVO or is this an isolated problem?

I would like to send an SMS from the device to an email. I use this code for it:
SmsManager sm = SmsManager.getDefault(); sm.sendTextMessage(bodyText, null, "test123", null, null);
When the "bodyText" variable is set to "1234567890", then it works. When the "bodyText" variable is set to any character, even "n", it tells me a java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException.
Is there any way to trick it so that it will let me send to an email?

I have a domain hosted with 1 and 1 and an email address at that custom domain. Currently, I have those emails automatically forwarded to my gmail address, so I get the messages in my GMail inbox already. However, I would like to be able to send emails from this address (instead of my GMail address). Is there a way to setup the built in email app to ONLY send emails, and not receive any? On my desktop computer, I just put in a fake POP3 server address to get this behavior. On the Droid, as far as I can tell, the setup wizard won't let you continue unless the incoming sever is valid.

I receive emails, and my contacts synch both ways. But after a write an email and click "send" it doesn't go anywhere. the word "sending" appears next to the email, but it's still there after two days. No error message. This happens in both the Gmail and Email apps (I'm a Gmail user).
The outgoing mail settings look fine in the email app. I can't find them in Gmail, but they are pretty simple, and it seems unlikely that Google would mess them up.

I am using this code to send a mail.
final Intent mail_Intent=new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
mail_Intent.setType("plain/text");
mail_Intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_EMAIL,new String[]{toText.getText().toString()}); mail_Intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT,subjectText.getText().toString()); mail_Intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT,bodyText.getText().toString());
Intent i=Intent.createChooser(mail_Intent, "Send Mail");
startActivity(i);
But on the following screen i get the default android API.I do not want that screen to popup. Is there any other way where i can silently send the mail.

I tried to send 15 pictures I sent through gmail. They never went through. It seems it's too large to send. I then just sent 1 picture through gmail. It still said it was trying to send it over 30 minutes after I sent it so I discarded it. Now I sent the same pics through text and they went through just fine. But how can you send pics through gmail? I tried to send it directly from my phone and it didn't work? I saved them to my computer and sent them that way and it finally did work but it took forever to add them to my email because the pics are so large? I don't want to keep trying to send them by downloading them to my computer to send through gmail. How can I send them through my phone? Are the pics just too large to send?
