Sprint HTC Hero : Cant Talk And Go Online Through The Mobile Network
Jan 5, 2010So I'm guessing you cant talk and go online through the mobile network, I remember reading that in the book and from personal experience. But I remember talking and browsing the web while connected to wifi, but can no longer. Whats up with that?

May 3, 2010My status on Google Talk never changes despite the fact that I have the settings checked in settings to "go to away when I turn off the screen" as well as "show mobile indicator to friends". This wasn't functional in 1.5, 2.1v1 and now 2.1v3 on my Eris. Has anyone had success? I've seen this function work on a TMobile rooted G1 but that's it.
I can watch the indicator change on the web when I change it manually (signed in as another user), and its very responsive. However, no auto-away when i lock the phone, and no indication that I'm on a mobile phone.

I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
HTC Desire :: How To Get Google Talk Notification Again?
May 8, 2010I know this has been discussed before but I just can't seem to fine the answer. I keep getting the notification that Google Talk Authentication Failed. The problem is, because it fails to Sign-In I can't access any menu's in Google Talk to disable it. I go into settings and stop the process and kill the program, but before you know it, it is trying to sign in again. I read somewhere that Google Talk is not available in UK which is probably why it can't sign in anyway.

May 26, 2013I am using IMO for Instant Messaging and so i removed the TALK app from my Nexus one (running Oxygen Rom) using Titanium backup.Recently there was an update in TALK app and i wanted to try it (Hangouts) so i installed it from the playstore. It was very slow on my mobile so i removed it again.
Now i am getting Talk notifications (with the old TALK icon) in the notification bar. along with the IMO notifications. When i click on the Talk notifications it does not open any app. and the messages that are notified by TALK are missing in the IMO app so its very frustrating.
So i thought it must be the HANGOUTS app and re installed it from the Play Store. Now i get Hangout notification, Talk notification and IMO notification. I removed the Hangouts app from the Application Manager and i still getting the TALK notifications.
HTC Desire :: Google Talk - Lost Connection To Server
Jun 8, 2010I have a question about Google Talk. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting after a while after the screen has been turned off? I have "always-on mobile data" active but after a minute or so after turning the screen of Google Talk disconnects and I don't receive any messages until I manually turn on the screen and wait for it to reconnect and retrieve the new messages.Just to note it doesn't actually show the splash screen saying signing into Google Talk it just says "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online" bellow the most recent message.

Aug 16, 2010I've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?
I've taken a few screenshots to help explain the error:
I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?

Oct 29, 2010I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

Jun 18, 2010I got my Desire 3 weeks ago. At first everything was okay and the websurfing experience great. But during the last week the browser has been forcing me to view the sites i visit in mobile view, only some of them and unluckily the site i visit the most. I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.

Sep 23, 2010having loads trouble trying to connect, on o2 network (but phone was intially vodaphone) when i purchased it got APN settings and all sweet , then htc sent update to my phone and since then no joy , went back to repair centre , recived it back yesterday and it's still the same argghhh.Htc say it's because it has been on vodaphone and this is causing the problem (even though it worked fine before they upgraded software!).

Mar 28, 2010I ordered a desire yesterday (mid day) via t-mobile website. I then realised i had incorretly given card details and rang them up to correct it. Fixed the card details and then was told that the desire is out of stock and they are hoping to get some in on Wednesday 31st March.

Nov 28, 2010I am new to Android, so new that I don't have it yet. Telus wants to give me a phone and when I tried the Desire in the store I fell in love with it. My current phone is an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Windows Mobile 6.1. I have disabled TouchFlo 3D and installed SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5 which I have customized to my liking. The Desire interface was so similar and easy to use I want to move over "to the dark side" Here is my issue: I am a very heavy Outlook 2010 user. I run my business on MS Business Contact Manager 2010 in Outlook and all of my appointments and contacts (447 of them) are very important to me. Each contact has multiple addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. I have been reading about the Desire for 2 days and I can live with a weak battery since I would have a car charger for the road and keep it plugged in when at my desk, similar to what I do with my TP2. What I can't live without is seamless syncing of all contact and calendar information. Tasks are important, but could be lived without. Some of the threads I have read say they can sync everything, others say they can sync nothing. I need another Outlook user to let me know if the Desire can sync all contact and calendar data seamlessly. If so, what is used to do it? I have read that the Froyo release with HTC Sync will work, but nothing about the details I mentioned above.

May 15, 2010One of the reasons I invested in a HTC Desire was the ability to use it as a modem and hook it up my laptop. This has worked well so far and I'm surprised by the speed.
Reading the terms & conditions and the usual small print, it states that T-Mobile don't allow you to use your phone as a mobile and advise people to go for their Web n Walk option (�5).
I do have unlimited internet (FUP 3gb) and I don't intend to fileshare or stream large contents when tethering and I should stay below 3gb a month.
Is there anyway of T-Mobile knowing if I'm surfing the web directly from my phone or using my phone as a modem in order to surf on my laptop?
HTC Desire : Orange Vs T-mobile UK?
Aug 21, 2010I've decided to get a HTC Desire but need some advice on service providers. Here are my options: T-Mobile: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 300 texts & unlimited net (1GB) - �25/month.
Orange: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 3000 texts, 500Mb net, unlimited email, unlimited calls to magic number & orange wednesdays - �25/month.
The text and calls are more than enough in both so the deal breaker is internet access & service quality. I am leaning towards Orange as I believe they have better UK coverage, 500 Mb net is probably enough (news, email & general browsing, occasional youtube) and email is free.
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience of these two networks in the UK? Does it make more sense to go with the bigger net allowance?
HTC Desire :: Dead Pixel And T-Mobile
Mar 31, 2010My desire is fantastic, was delivered when they said it would be and all the staff I've dealt with have been fab. The only gutting thing was that my desire had a stuck red pixel in the middle of the screen that was visible on any white background like a web page or the dialer. It is small but it is annoying so I decided to phone up T-Mobile. Amazingly they have arranged for a swap to happen tomorrow. Can't fault them at all.

May 13, 2010I' ve been using a lot my Desire these days and absolutely love it.I surf the Internet a lot and just wanted to make sure if I get it all right:
1. If I only use the Mobile Network Internet on my phone that means I am using the Internet my provider (Orange in this case) gives me per month. I have 1GB limited Interned each month and therefore surfing the web through the Mobile Network option means I am draining from that 1GB limit.
2. If I only use the Wi-Fi Internet (when Mobile Network is OFF) on the phone that means I connect to (in this case) my home Internet router and use it to access Internet and therefore do not drain any of the 1GB limit I have per month.
Is that right? I use Internet a lot and don't want to end up paying huge bills to Orange.And last question- what happens if both options (Mobile Network and Wi-Fi) are turned ON? What Internet will I be using- Orange's or the one from my home Internet router?
