HTC Desire :: Dead Pixel And T-Mobile

Mar 31, 2010

My desire is fantastic, was delivered when they said it would be and all the staff I've dealt with have been fab. The only gutting thing was that my desire had a stuck red pixel in the middle of the screen that was visible on any white background like a web page or the dialer. It is small but it is annoying so I decided to phone up T-Mobile. Amazingly they have arranged for a swap to happen tomorrow. Can't fault them at all.

HTC Desire :: Is 1 Dead Pixel Acceptable?

May 29, 2010

My poor Desire appears to have 1 dead pixel. I can't see any others. Would you accept this? I am tempted to take it back and get a replacement, but I am worried that the replacement might have more? I have always been unlucky with dead pixels.

HTC EVO 4G :: Got A Dead Pixel What Should I Do?

Jun 30, 2010

I got my evo last Friday and I have noticed a dead pixel. It's on the e key when the keyboard is up and can only be seen on a white screen. My question is should I exchange it or is one dead pixel nothing to worry about? It looks like a little purple or red speck.

HTC EVO 4G :: Dead / Black Pixel

Jun 8, 2010

So when I bought the Evo, the first unit had a crack on the bottom of the LCD, then I got a replacement that same day and it had a dead pixel. Sprint said they couldn't exchange three in one day, so they said they will call me when my replacement unit comes in, but I want to know if there is anyway to fix this one dead pixel?
This is a dead pixel, not a stuck one. I can only see it on a white background and its a black dot. Any thoughts?

Motorola Droid :: Anyone Getting A Dead Pixel Or Two?

Nov 9, 2009

I got my new Moto Droid on the day of release, which so far I absolutely love. However, I just looked at it and noticed that there was a single dead pixel in the top left corner. I wouldn't have even noticed it had it not been on the gray background of the top status bar the rest of my wall paper is black so it would've been easy to miss.Has anyone else experience dead pixel(s) on their new phone? I'm going to try to get it swapped out this afternoon which I think they should do. It just makes me mad that I have too.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Dead Pixel Test

Oct 28, 2009

Well, I did this on my phone and noticed I had a lot of dead pix. Here is how you do it:
1. Go to the your backlight setting and turn it up to 100. MENU>Setting>Sound & Display>Brightness You have to disable the auto blacklight first.
2. Launch you camera app
3. Hold your finger over the camera lens and count the dead pixels
I was disappointed to actually see so many. You really don't notice them during normal. Unfortunately for me, Best Buy has a cap on Sprint phones (only able to exchange 3) returned and exchanged. I have to take mines to a authorized Sprint repair store.Does anyone else have dead pixels?

Motorola Droid X :: Dead Pixel Or Dust Under Screen?

Jul 22, 2010

note: this is an artist rendition because my digital camera is terrible and i couldn't figure out how to get the dust in the shot. but it looks just like this. it's a black speck under the screen that can only be seen on bright surfaces and only if you are looking at the screen head on. i'm not sure if it might be a dead pixel. i can certainly live with this problem although i'd prefer if it wasn't there.

1. is this a dead pixel or dust?
2. how do i fix this, can i just exchange it at the vzw store whenever they stop being sold out?

Motorola Droid X :: Dead Pixel But Already Put Wrapsol On Now Need To Do Master Wipe

Aug 7, 2010

I called up service just now and looks like I have a dead pixel that a battery pull didn't make go away. I am annoyed now because I will have to do what they called a master wipe or something and all the customizing I have done will be gone. I don't even know what I am doing but I will just go to the store by work to have them walk me through it.Is there anything I need to know about a master wipe and keeping all my stuff intact?
Is there something that wrapsol will do now that my nicely protected and wrapped phone is going back to the verizon God's?I also told them about the 2 times in the last week the phone went to sleep/blacked the screen while scrolling through the home pages without hitting a button or anything and they said neither the pixel or the phone going blank are known issues

Samsung Vibrant :: Single Dead Pixel? Call For Replacement?

Aug 21, 2010

I love my new vibrant and recently developed a dead pixel. I've whipped my phone clear of finger prints now and still when I open my flashlight application, I find a single blue pixel. Unless it's grey/black it becomes quite annoying. I hardly notice it with my nexus one live wallpaper but thats about the only time I don't notice it. Should I stop complaining and deal with it or should ask for a replacement and throw out 10 bucks(and later pay 15 for a new screen protector)to ship it back hoping it doesn't get lost by the postal service which would mean I'd have to pay for the replacement/further deal with hell in that situation(Sorry, never had good times with them)and start backing up now?

HTC EVO 4G :: Screen Rotation - Minor Light Leakage And Dead Pixel

Jul 8, 2010

I've had a HTC Evo now for 2/3 weeks, and I love it! But over the last few days it's started to act funny....

What it's doing is lets say I unlock the phone and have it laying on my desk, in the past it would show the screen in portrait orientation....but over the lat 2/3 days its been jumping to landscape and I have to pick up the phone, tilt it to get it back to portrait, and if I lay it back down it will go back to landscape.

This is mainly annoying when checking emails/texts/etc, but also if I am on the train and holding it near my waste, depending on the angle it will bounce back and forth from portrait to landscape!

I originally did a reformat when I bought it, and I am going to do it again shortly to see if that helps....just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if it's fixable (and yes i do want auto rotation)....

My phone has a few other problems such as minor light leakage, and a dead pixel (which I was going to look past and keep the phone)...so if this is something wrong with the hardware it would be a pretty good reason to get a replacement within my 30 days....

Android :: Faster Way To Set A (PNG) Bitmap Color Instead Of Pixel By Pixel

Nov 22, 2010

I have some png files that I am applying a color to. The color changes depending on a user selection. I change the color via 3 RGB values set from another method. The png files are a random shape with full transparency outside the shape. I don't want to modify the transparency, only the RGB value. Currently, I'm setting the RGB values pixel by pixel (see code below).I've come to realize this is incredibly slow and possibly just not efficient enough do in an application. Is there a better way I could do this? Here is what I am currently doing. You can see that the pixel array is enormous for an image that takes up a decent part of the screen

HTC Desire :: Bluetooth And WIFI Is Dead

Aug 18, 2010

I had an HTC Desire delivered yesterday, and I used the system update to install 2.2 Everything seemed to work perfectly for 24 hours, but this evening the device is coming up with "Error" when you try to connect to wifi, and it also refuses to switch on bluetooth at all. Does anyone know if this is a 2.2 issue (and therefore likely to be fixed in an update), or if this is a problem that has been around for a while and the phone is knackered? I have seen posts by people with similar issues which predate the 2.2 release, but it can be hard to tell if they were running the official software or not.I want to avoid installing anything that may invalidate the warranty.

If I kill all running processes and try again the screen goes black and immediately returns to the home screen. I did notice that a few days ago it suddenly started working again out of nowhere, but the following morning it was dead again. I've tried a full factory reset but no joy.

HTC Desire :: Switch On Tethering OR Mobile Hotspot - Mobile Network Dies

Sep 21, 2010

Android Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies

I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.

HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen

Oct 29, 2010

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.

The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".

Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.

Android :: Get Pixel Value From Display?

Jul 14, 2010

I'm not even concerned with the camera per se. I want at the closest thing to the display screen. Meaning: it could even be the desktop the user is looking at, completw w/ the background and the icons she moves back and forth.

Let's say, at time t=1 sec, the app goes to pixel (78, 300) on that display and obtains its value. What may be at (78, 300) could be a portion of the icon or some speck of tree leaf on the photo being used as desktop background.

I'm familiar with BitmapFactory.decodeFile() for getting at the pixel contents of a file. But what about the display?
