Lg ally errors (com.google.process.gapps),marketplace not dwnloading apps after root and system app deleting
ok so this is what happened......
I downloaded ANDROOT and ROOT EXPLORER. i then went in and deleted some system apps... well i thought google talk was something i didnt want so i deleted it and i deleted some other apps like myspace and others. well i tryed to download something from the marketplace and it wont let me download. i searched it up and found out deleting talk.apk and gtalkservice.apk was causing the problem. i downloaded them and moved them into system/app and the marketplace still dont work and when i turn the phone on i still get the error com.google.process.gapps....

I'm using KaosFroyo v.32 and wanted to delete some included apps I don't use. I tried deleting the Twitter app using root explorer. I went into system>app, switched to Mount to R/W and deleted Twitter.apk--- however, when I go into manage applications, it's still listed there. Did I do something wrong?

Before I rooted I would go through my sd card and delete files that were no longer needed such as application files from applications that I would download and later delete. Now that I'm rooted I am a little hesitant to do that because I'm not sure if there are files on there that are necessary for root.
For example: the SU file on the SD Card. Is that the program itself or is it just the install file. If I were to delete it would I lose the superuser or would it not effect it? I just got a 16 gig sd card so I am wondering what files I need to transfer over if there are any.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but just need to get an idea of why and if I need to root my HTC Desire. Why do I need to root my phone, what's the benefit. I just recently updated it with a download of the HTC Froyo ROM. I've been reading a lot on rooting the phone and most have certain requirements on the version of the HBOOT being version 0.80 or lower. Mine is currently at 0.92.0001 and I can't find a guide that says I can do it for this version. Also I have different values in the software versions.
Android Version 2.2
Baseband Version 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
Kernel Version 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Build number 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys
Software number 2.09.405.8
Browser version Webkit 3.1

I spent over an hour last night try to find out how to root the desire. I found several tuts on xda developers but they are quite complicated i dont mind the effort but i saw how the evo has an app which roots the phone just by pressing a button. What are the chances of this being developed for the desire?

really tempted to root my desire, to get rid of all the Orange branding, and demo apps.
seems to be a few different methods, lekkys, unrevoked, goldcards, which roms, radios...
All a bit bewildering/scary tbh!
so where do I start? which methods best?

I have just done the 'one click root' to my desire (here), and after installing leeDroid's Froyo rom (2.0c) I have lost root access to my phone. This means I cant do a Titanium Backup restore to get all my stuff back. Anyone know of a quick fix? or do I have to roll back and start again?

My Virgin Media email account went down earlier and now it's decided to upload every single email from the server to my phone. It now says 99+ emails (257 actually) and I want to mass delete them rather than delete them one by one.

I accidentally set one of the MP3s which came on the phone as my ringtone. This now continually shows up in my ringtones list, despite no longer being my ringtone. If it was an MP3 I had imported to the ringtones folder on my SD card, I assume I could delete the file from the folder and it would no longer show up on the phone's ringtone list? However, I don't seem to be able to remove this MP3 from my ringtone list on the phone. It shows up on my PC when I connect my Desire via USB, but it's in the MP3 folder and not the ringtone folder. It's not a huge deal, but I'm trying to work out a way of removing it from my ringtone list!

Had my desire for about 4 months now, tres happy with it, one of the first apps i downloaded to use instead of the stock was Handcent for SMS.Today I take it out to send a text and the conversation screen is blank! Can't find texts anywhere - including if I go into the traditional 'messaging'.And then to top it off, I send a text to my sister and it goes to my wife!? Despite the conversation window showing the correct name and profile photo.Anyone else had any issues with Handcent? Reading other posts, I now know that its also a battery drainer, so I'll be uninstalling it, but I'd like me messages back first!

In my haste I linked a google email account to my phone which I'd rather wasn't linked to it. I've now created a new google email account which I want to be my main email account, however when I try to remove the old one I'm told that I need to reset factory settings, which I'd rather not do.

I have a POP mail account pretty standard with my ISP. My home PC is where I keep those mails so when I load up Outlook and download the mails, the mails are no longer on the server. On my previous WinMo device, whilst I was away from my home PC, it would download mails and keep them on my device UNTIL I got home, opened Outlook and downloaded mails, and then, on my device the next sync would clear those mails from the device. Nice and neat. Since moving to Android recently, a niggling thing for me has been that no matter what I do from my home PC, mails never seem to disappear from my device until the number of retention days is met. I've looked at the settings over and over and can't see anything to lead me to replicating how it worked on my WinMo device. I have no need to keep emails on my device once they're downloaded at home, am I missing something or is this just the way it is? I know iPhone does it this way also and it really annoyed me for the very short time I had one.

I am new to android and the desire, just upgraded from a nokia N96. I am running 2.2 android. A couple of questions regarding Rss feeds.
1. From the home screen, I can slide the screen to the left, twice and add a news feed. Can I add more than one feed here, and how can I change the one I have?
2. In "all apps > news" can I delete any of the pre installed news feeds?

This is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?

I've got my Desire for 3 months now. I realy think that I have done the best phone choice of my life. But now after installing/uninstalling/testing many apps I have capacity problems with internal memory. I'm using the method of installing apps directly to the SD. But I always have the low on space notification on my task bar. 75% of what I have installed is on my sd. The rest 25% is HTC Sense apps. My Desire runs on stock froyo and combined with htc sense I have the feeling of perfection while using my phone. Everything run smoothly. No complaints.
So what are my options here? Root? I suppose that I will have to erase everything on my phone memory so I would have more space. If this is the case then I have to ask for your suggestions. a) I will have to stick with launcherpro and I dont like it. No htc sense on non stock froyo right? b) I have many security and privacy concerns for using those roms that some groups have developed. Are they stable as atleast stock froyo? Are they safe? Is there a good phone resources administration? omg 12 mb for adobe flash player on my memory?
