Recently my phone keeps coming up with a message saying please delete some files as your phone is full.The only thing I can think of is that the images for my contacts from facebook that are linked from facebook sync are using up all my memory.

Not had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.

View 23 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem that has been annoying me for some time, but has recently become ridiculous. As we all know the internal memory is pretty small on the Desire, and i've tried to be conservative with the apps I install (unless I know they can be moved to SD). However, despite this i'm constantly low in internal memory. at the moment, the only apps i have installed on the internal memory are beautiful widgets (1.36mb), colornote (524kb), facebook (3.05mb), mixzing (3.70mb), multicon (316kb), swiftkey (1.84mb), (tasker (1.43mb), voice search (2.54mb) .everything else I have moved to the SD card via app2sd or through the recently posted trick to get all apps to automatically install to SD. As you can see, the apps I have installed (obviously this excludes all the various htc stuff that comes preinstalled etc) falls far short of the supposed 148mb that i have available to install apps, so can anyone shed any light on what might be going on? I've tried clearing various caches to try and free up some spece but this has barely had any impact and this is truly starting to bug me. I've got a desire on 2.2
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been running with about 15-20mb of memory left for the last couple of months perfectly happily, haven't installed any new apps etc. This morning when I woke up the phone was suddenly reading completely full with something like 44kb of internal memory left. I went through and deleted a bunch of apps, emptied various caches and got the memory back down to 130mb of the 147mb. Now, I've had my phone on charge all afternoon, maybe 3 texts and 5 emails have come in and all of a suddenly the memory is totally full again! Most apps now force close because there's not enough memory to run them but something is obviously just filling up the memory somehow. Anybody else have this problem, or any ideas how to solve it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my Desire for about 3 week snow. I absolutely loved it at first but am becoming increasingly frustrated. Main problem is the battery needs charging so often. I have done all the things suggested, dimmed lights, changed wall paper,turned off internet etc., but after playing a few games and making a couple of calls back to the charger it goes.
Now, today I went to send an sms and it says phone is full and won't let me send a text.! What's with that? 3 weeks old and it's full? I'm in shock. I have deleted as many msgs as I can and deleted some apps I don't use but still I can't send a text or open one. I really don't know what I can delete and now think this is going to be an eternal problem. This phone has turned from a huge delight to a huge disappointment for me and I haven't even paid my first bill.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMost all the time i find the Evo lagging and check the processes with Astro's Process Manager. i see i have usually around 45mb. i free up things i am not using but usually these things are not ones that i have opened. Sprint TV, news, etc. when i free up, i see i have about 105-120mb free.. then the speeds pic up a bit. normal? of course, more memory it will increase phone speeds i know. but why is it so low?

I have a little experience using computers from late 1995 Year, and from year 2000 I am using also Linux from time to time, and very rare but it was a delight freeBSD. I have no experience on Android and MacOs.
Now, I all my family (father, mother, girlfriend and I) changed the phones on Android which is Linux based, but for ARM processors.
Anyway, I have played a little with Android 4 x86 on my laptop.From, my point of view, a Android Smartphone is just a little computer like an raspberry pi / pandaboard / beagle board.So, a mini computer with an Arm processor running a very small and tiny operating system max 8 Gb, when on my gentoo install I had been using about 30-40 Gb. I know, the size can be affected by the compiling flags but anyway.
Now, on all my system I had, from my experience I did 2 Backups, like this:
My laptop is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 1, and the External Hardisk number 1 is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 2.So, as it is a good practice to have a backup handy, I keep 2 backups in 2 different location in case of hardware failure / water flood etc. Some of the files I need are backed up in the cloud, on the internet.
I use to make IMAGES of the Operating System partition, and of the mbr , and of the partition table, with software like Acronis True Image, Paragon, DriveImage XML, Norton Ghost, Clone Zilla.
When I had to do data recovery I did an Acronis "sector-by-sector" approach image of the hardisk, and I recovered files from that image.
I assume that maybe I will need to get root on one or two phones, and one phone need's to be unlocked from the carrier.
Before doing this I would like to make a full backup of the phones.
1) How can I make a FULL backup of the android phones? In this moment my mother phone is a samsung galaxy mini2 Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 s6500 and mine is Sony Xperia L
2) a) If I will "unlock" the phone from the carrier (locked on orange, but i wish to use also Vodafone, I tim, I wind, moviestar, o2 etc)
b) If I will "root" the phone to gain administrator acces on it
After step A) and B) if I will restore the original backup, the phone will be "locked" back to Orange, and "un-rooted", or it will be "unlocked" and "un-rooted"?
3) Instead of having an hardisk like computer have, I guess the smartphone is using an "usb-stick/sd-card/ssdhdd"-like memory for storage of the operating system, so how can I see the partition table, the mbr, on the device?
I run on a desire 2.2 froyo. I have enabled apps to sd, and moved all the apps that can be moved?(dunno if i can move all the apps?)well, the problem is, my internal memory gets filled up pretty fast. So my question is:"How to move all the "crap" over to the sd-card?"

I have been having a major problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. The internal memory of the phone should be 11.25GB (even though it should be 16, but I know how these stuff actually work), Surly I have an extra external SD card, but that's not the problem. The internal memory keeps being filled with nothing.here is a picture to demonstrate the situation:
As you can see the total space is 11.25 GB and if you count the applications, pictures, videos and miscellaneous files, they constitute no more than 2GB, which means that there should be no less than 9 GB left as available in the phone's internal memory, but as you can see I have got 5.84 GB available. How did that happen?
I have rebooted the system yesterday when the internal memory was completely full (even though I have only 2GB filled). And I have a feeling that by tomorrow I will get the memory completely full without downloading or adding anything on the phone.
And don't tell me I should clean cache or whatever that thing is, because I have already done that, and it's not working.
I am fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I managed to get my Evo rooted with unrevoked and then loaded Fresh 3.3 on it a week or so later. I did a couple of back ups using titanium back up, one of the stock ROM and one with the fresh ROM. I kept these on the SD card but I think I should move them to my computer b/c they are large files. What should I have done once I installed Fresh 3.3? Is there something on the root of the SD card I should have deleted? I don't have the space to update to the fresh 3.4 right now and would like to get it updated ASAP.

So, I guess the only thing on the SD card is the pics I took.What can I move to the SD card, and how do I go about doing that? View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't work.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.
I have like 640mbs available for memory, however when I try to check my messages I am getting an error message that my phone memory is full and that I need to delete some files, but I really don't anything on there.

Had about 30 megabytes open, and did not check on Fennec size. Install failed, due to lack of space. But, now I show 249 of 261 megs used. I not sure why, if the installed failed, how any space was used. And, did not find any apps installed under Fenenc or Mozilla. Also, when I try to update other apps, the update process starts, but never completes.How can I find what did install and delete it, or regain my free space.
