View 5 Replies View RelatedMy music application constantly plays music in the background, however I'd like to be able to detect when another application starts playing audio (such as the YouTube app) so I can pause/mute/stop the audio in my application. This will allow a user to continue browsing the web whilst listening to music, but then if they wish to watch a video at any point, they can do so without audio conflict.
One solution might be to listen for a broadcast which states when an application begins using the AudioManager. Does such an Intent Action exist? Edit: As in the answer provided below, there appears to be a method of detecting the loss of audio focus in 2.2 with AudioManager.OnAudioFocusChangeListener.
It'll just start playing a song (always the same one) out of nowhere. At 4 am this morning it brought my wife and I out of dead sleep, can't have that. Also, while the song is playing, it isn't shown in the music player at all; it's like a ghost song and we can't figure out how to stop it without turning off phone. If we let the song play out, no other song follows. We just use the music player that came with the phone and get some of the music from Droid Tunes. I just downloaded a song using the Droid tunes and as soon as it was done, this ghost song played. We use AVG free virus on the phone and it doesn't catch anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I receive a text message while on an active call, it plays the message tone at full volume - making it rather hard to hear the other person! Granted, this only happens occasionally ... but when it does it can be quite annoying. I've searched other threads and had a (what I consider to be ) a thorough look through the phones' settings, but I can't seem to find a way to stop it. Is this just an omission on the developers behalf? Or is there something I could change?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems after only a fortnight or so from getting my new Desire (unlocked and unrooted) I've already run into a problem I can't seem to fix. I was running a game (I believe it was Asphalt HD) while on the charger when my screen went completely black and I found myself at the boot screen. It finished booting but then got stuck on a frozen "loading" screen. I restarted it and it worked fine, I assumed it was the app and tried another one. About ten minutes in I got another black screen and the phone started booting again. Only this time it would do the animated logo, then crash and try to reboot again, over and over until I pulled the battery. Only now it wont boot at all, it will simply sit on the initial HTC boot screen indefinitely. It won't turn off the screen or anything, just sit there in a frozen state.
So far I've tried removing the SD and even SIM cards, leaving it off to charge the battery, doing a factory reset from the boot screen, etc. But every single time, whether I turn it on normally or use the bootloader, all I get is the single "switched on" vibration and the HTC screen, and it just freezes there. I already spent quite a while waiting for this phone to arrive, I REALLY don't want to send it back to the store because it was bought through an importer and I'm worried it will take a very long time for any repairs/replacements. I will if I'm forced to but I would much rather find more methods I could try.
Over the last couple of days I have noticed that some applications have started going straight to SD? I have not followed the procedure favored on here for forcing applications to SD (yet). So why are they doing it? Its not a problem as I was going to move them anyway.

I rebooted the phone and it was fine for about 30 seconds and then did the same. Second reboot and it appears to be ok. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? All software is as standard the phone has not been rooted (yet).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an unbranded unaltered HTC Desire Android Version 2.2 baseband Version 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 Kernel Version 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1 Build number 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys Software number 2.09.405.8 Where do I start, bought it from CPW in May, no issues, no problems no reboots. Upgraded to Froyo last week and its doing my head in. I use the Google Navigation a lot, problem is now it keeps rebooting. Today I entered an address and it gained then lost GPS reception, took ages to get it back, then when it did it only lasted a few minutes then rebooted the Desire. I restarted navigation and it may pick up GPS then few seconds later reboot itself again, drove me nuts, to the point where I gave up and used OVI maps on my Nokia. On the way home 120 mile journey, entered the address and navigation was ok for about 20 minutes then it kept rebooting. Occasionally it would navigate for a couple of minutes then reboot itself, this again drove me nuts.
I then tried to eliminate possibilities and drove 1 hour with the Desire and Google maps on, but not navigating i.e just showing my movement on the road, I kept scrolling the screen to make sure the arrow was always shown, it worked faultless, no reboots data was downloading ok to form the route maps. I then put the navigation back on, and low and behold started rebooting and loosing GPS reception. This is driving me mad, as I need the navigation, everything else works ok with no issues. Is anyone else having any problems? HTC deny there is any known faults on the Desire, I am not going to put up with this, it is not fit for purpose. I think it must be software not hardware, but I am not sure, any help advice gratefully received.
About a month ago my HTC Desire started overheating and shutting off after about 5 minutes of web browsing. I've rooted it and all but I dont have a backup of the original recovery and unrooted stock ROM (for telus). Today it felt like it was going to catch on fire while it was in my pocket (it wasnt being used as I was in the middle of a class). I figure that I cant wait any longer for Telus to release an update that would allow me to unroot my phone so can anyone who has a stock telus desire please send me a backup of their stock ROM!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is 2010. I refuse to believe that you can only play movies/video files that have .avi, .mp4, .mpg, .mkv file formats by converting. I remember Sony was slow on the uptake when they started the media server streaming which I use on a daily basis at home now.Is there a program that will decode the files as you stream them? Any codecs to install on the Droid X? I have thousands of video files and "converting" is time consuming not to mention creating two video files instead of one to play on devices. Converting is BS and whoever thought "Let's just have the users convert the video files" needs to take a long walk off a short pier.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to play an audio file on a voice call as following:
The application initiates a call from device X to device Y
When Y replies application on device X should inject an audio file in the stream of the call so device Y hears this audio file.
I am also getting the same error while playing the media file
E/MemoryHeapBase(31): mmap(fd=20, size=233472) failed (Invalid argument) E/VideoMIO( 31): Error creating frame buffer heap.
I plan to have a 3gp video file that will come with the installation package, it will be placed in /files/ subdirectory, and I would like to ask the native Android media player to play it when I want that.
Here is what I have planned to do/code:
Intent intent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
Uri data = Uri.parse("BattlestarGalactica.3gp"); intent.setDataAndType(data,"video/3gpp"); startActivity(intent);
However, when I try to launch the lines above, I get the following error:
CODE:.............
And the video can not be played.
What am I doing wrong that is not applicable to Android platform?
I am having issues with playing videos on my X10. I have used Media Go to convert .avi to .mp4 before and they have worked fine but now I can only get 1 file to work out of 10. I have played the converted files in Mediscape and now they dont want to work.
So......
I have tried several different conversion programs (Smart C, Double Twist and some others I cant remember) and I have also tried a couple of different players as well (Rock Player, YxFlash, Real Player) and nothing works.
YxFlash used to let me play .avi and I believe that Rock Player is supposed to be able to support .avi as well. Now, nothing.
I dont mind converting the files, IF THEY WORK.
I want to play an audio file so that the person i am calling can hear it.Not through the speaker though because it will decrease the sound quality.
I tried to open the audio file while calling (with default sound player and google music) but although it openes the app it says "unable to play during call".I also tried in handsfree mode but didnt worked.
I use sg s3 mini with android 4.1.2.
When trying to play a local mp3 file included in the APK, nothing happens. However, if I pull an mp3 from the web it works.
e.g.
< a u d i o src="[URL]..." > WORKS
< a u d i o src="01.mp3" > DOES NOT WORK
I tried looking through logs for clues and found this line. I'm not sure if it's relevant or not.
PlayerDriver::isProtectedFile(file:///android_asset/www/01.mp3)
I'm new to Android development, so I can only guess that the file is somehow inaccessible for streaming.
I'd love to get this figured out though. Having to pull the files remotely every time is not a desirable solution.
Some additional info. Either solution works when tested in the browser. The local file problem only arises when I convert it to an app. I'm using PhoneGap build to create the APK.
When I synced my phone to my PC it did it fine but all my music saved some how on the tab called "other" even though on my phone I have NO music files but it says according to the computer that 30gb is being used up is there a way of deleting the file from my phone if so how?

Just loaded up CyanogenMod6 RC3 last night and since then my phone has frozen twice. I'm on the 2.xx radio not the 2.15. Should I up the radio? Or is the freezing a known issue with CM6?
