When at work I usually have mine plugged into my laptop to charge it up and today I notice that it's getting warm at the back. It's not even been used at all for the last 2 or 3 hours, it's just been sitting there on charge.

I own an EVO - when I connect it to my Dell Vostro laptop it charges without any problems whatsoever. When I attempt to charge it from my work laptop (Dell Latitude) it never charges. I am not changing any settings, just simply unplugging it from the Vostro and then plugging it into the Latitude.

It charges fine and quick when I use the adapter that came with it but doesn't work with the laptop. I have an HP Pavilion dv6 it's 2 years old if that makes a difference.

it used to charge on the plug when i would have it already plugged into my computer for a little bit. but now it doest work anymore..

View 19 Replies View RelatedGot this phone yesterday and was all good. Let the battery run out and plugged it into charger overnite. Didn't charge.Tried the usb into the pc and got the battery with the lightning bolt symbol. Plugged into wall outlet wont work. What gives? I tried taking out the battery for 5-10 mins and still nothing. The guy at support asked if I could turn the usb the other way like I was an idiot, and I explained to him that it only goes in one way. Any ideas? I plan on taking it back if I cant solve it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've heard that today's batteries' health depends on how many cycles they have gone through, and considering this it should be wise to leave the phone plugged in while fully charged and under heavy use. This way you will delay the cycle and get a "healthier" battery. This was just MY theory and I was not too sure about it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've made a nice little dock while I'm at work for keeping my phone upright and flat against a board while plugged in at my desk. This enables me to answer texts by just reaching over and tapping out my reply instead of taking the phone into my hand. What I'm after is an option, app, widget, Anything that will allow my phone to stay on while it's plugged in (sort of like a mini laptop). Right now it goes black after a minute, as it would do if it was on battery.
The only option I can find in the settings is when to turn off the display, which only offers a maximum of 30 minutes and doesn't take into consideration whether you're on battery or charging. It would be preferable if this option existed only while on charge, as I don't want my phone on all the time while on battery, obviously. For what it's worth, my Desire is running 2.2 with the Cyanogenmod 6.0.2 ROM.

The problem I am having is that when I play Robo Defense my CPU Temp goes over 50 degrees Celsius and goes to my failsafe speed of 600 MHZ. Is this normal or is my failsafe temp just too conservative? Should I just clock it down a little for gaming? That would seem kinda counter-productive, to clock down for the most demanding thing I do but I guess it might be worth it VS overheating.
Also, which should I worry about more, the CPU or battery temp? I've seen posts saying that the battery actually has a much lower safe temp range, but I'm a little worried about the keyboard soaking heat from the CPU and coming unglued. I saw a picture of that and I'm not sure if overclocking was the cause but it seems possible, my keyboard is HOT when the CPU hits 50c
Sorry if this has been asked a lot before, I did try a search but didn't come up with anything regarding overheats during games.
I have a number of podcasts in my itunes library that I'd like to put on my Desire. Is it as simple as plugging the Desire into my laptop, creating a folder called Podcasts, and copying them into there? Or is there an app I could or should use to achieve this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedBought one of those 1A car chargers from Ebay that have been much talked about on the forums. Very happy with it, until today. Tootling along with sat nav on, and Google girl robotically jibberjabbering at me, when I noticed the phone had stopped charging. Charge was about 60% so it wasn't full. Looked at the charger socket and the charging light had gone out then looked at phone and it no longer had the charging indicator on the battery.
I unplugged the charger from the phone and lo and behold the light on the socket charger came back on indicating it was ready to charge. So I plugged it back into the phone and the light went out again! Seems as if sometimes the phone wont let itself be charged? I don't the thing the charger is at fault as it has been working fine, and looks ok when I disconnect the phone from it.
I got my HTC Desire on Contract from o2 on the 24th June.ive now found today that the charger wire cant be in certain angles in order for the phone to charge. For example the phone would charge when faced down, but not charge when faced up.Im assuming its the charging socket in the phone thats going wrong.Went to o2 store, who say i need to send it off to repair because im outside of the 28 days. this could take anything up to three weeks.

Anyway, the manual that comes with it doesn't really cover that much, and the only information about that battery I can find is on the beginning where it says that it takes about 3 hours to fully charge it. However, it doesn't mention how long you should charge it on your very first usage: until the LED-light turns green, or more (like when I had to charge my old Nokia for 8 hours the first time)? If anyone would lend a helping hand, I'd really appreciate it.

Basically when i opened the box and set up the phone the battery charge level was at around 25% full. Im in the UK but i got the phone from the US over ebay, so it didnt come with a UK mains adapter however i have an ipod mains-USB charger (that the USB cable plugs into) which i thought would charge it up by using the USB cable that came with the phone and plugging it into the ipod charger.So i plugged it in and the LED light lit up orange on the phone and the animation came on showing that it was charging so i turned the phone off, but when i checked and turned it back on after a few hours of the phone being plugged in it was still at 25% battery when i unplugged it.I assumed it didnt work because i used the ipod charger so I tried charging with just the USB cable plugged into my computer with the phone turned off, a few hours later its still at 25% charge. It hasnt gained any battery charge past 25% (it did loose battery when i had it unplugged but only charged back up to 25%)Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem is, is it because of the charger im using with it being US? I just bought a UK HTC official charger from the internet so I hope that will work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEverytime I start any audio or video there seems to be a pop sound that occurs. It's louder if I happen to pause a track and then resume playing it again. It's still there even if I use my own earphones as well, so I'm thinking it's the handset. It doesn't happen with the speaker, only the 3.5mm jack. I was just wondering if it was a common issue or a problem just with my handset.
