I just got my HTC Desire on Friday and I have been having trouble setting up the POP3/IMAP mail program. I have several email addresses and wanted to put them all on this but so far have only managed to get 1 to work.The address I got to work was a @hotmail.com address.

I have a new Desire with T Mobile and I have gone through the automated email set up via my "POP3" account with Ntlworld. Problem is, whilst I receive my emails, I cannot send emails. To be honest, this is not an area that I am very good at, so I might be missing something daft. Does anyone know of something obvious I can do, or can they help me to check my settings.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get my Shaw mail on my Sony X10 using the Mail app that came on my phone, I know it works I have done it once before, but I had to send my phone in and get a replacement due to some issues, anyways I can get the incoming server to work witch is pop.shaw.ca but the outgoing one is where I am having problems, I have tried everything, but keep getting the same dead end.

View 12 Replies View RelatedNew user and new Droid owner here. As a previous BB Curve owner, I was pretty excited to drop the clunky BB OS in favor of a more user friendly device. I am trying to get my email set up on my Droid. I have my personal email through my webhost (Dreamhost.com) which allows us to have either IMAP or POP3 email access. I have attempted to set up each on my phone and still have similar issues.
1. Emails constantly show up dated 12/31/1969 - typically these are auto generated emails from eBay or CRON based emails from some applications I have developed. Is there an known issue with the way the OS reads auto-generated time stamps?
2. Multiple notifications received on same emails. Once again tied back to my additional POP3/IMAP account, but I receive the notification icon of new emails after I have read them - and even sometimes deleted them from my Droid.
3. Not so much an email issue, but a general question. Is there a way to "unlock" the phone other than sliding the screen up or pressing the top botton?
For some reason, my inbox for my IMAP connection to the office email decided to empty itself on my Desire (2.1).An email arrived and I opened the inbox (not the email) and my inbox was empty.I have just popped in to the office (day off - typical!) and all my email is still there so it's not a total loss, just a little confusing since everything was working sweetly.The email server is based on an OS X 10.6.4 server in the office (not that this should have anything to do with it really).I've been through checking the settings and they're all OK. Only thing I haven't tried is removing the account and putting it back on. Might give that a try later on.

I can't even find an app that supports multiple exchange accounts and the apps that do support exchange (touchdown) don't support pop3/imap.

I am having some very annoying email problems that I have fought with for almost a week, researched and tried multiple programs, and followed about every tutorial on this and similar sites to make work. My school system's email provider is junk, but since I'm a traveling teacher (I bounce between schools) it is very important that I be able to receive and reply to emails from administrators and other teachers. I'm coming from five years of Blackberry email, where all it took was inputting my address and password in the BIS email page and never having to give it a second thought.
So far, here's a rundown on what's happened and what I've tried:
1. Using My Accounts and the stock email program, my email address has been added. It will not connect when set up as a POP3 account; I must set it as an IMAP account to retrieve any emails. No matter what port setting I use (25 or 587), I cannot send or reply to email.
2. Using K-9 email, I am able to download email as POP3 with standard settings (port 110). As with the built-in client, I am unable to reply to or send emails.
3. Before you ask, 587 never worked. I've tried.
4. The email address is configured in accordance with our service provider's instructions..
5. This issue has occurred in the same manner on both 2.1 and 2.2.
I tried to set up my pop3 e-mail on my phone last night and I keep getting a "username or password is incorrect" error message on my incoming email. I am able to send e-mail from the phone.The funny thing is that if I check my email from my PC and empty any e-mail's that are in my inbox, then try to check for new e-mail's with my DroidX (knowing that there are none) I do not get any errors.The errors only occur when there are e-mails in my inbox.Didn't have any problems with this setup with the incredible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have setup and tested my personal email on my new HTC Desire and all seems fine, then when I get home and manually check my email on my Outlook client I seem to have received about 4 emails but none to my phone. When I go into my settings on my phone, the SMTP server settings for mail have changed. For example when I set it up it should be say:
POP Server: mail.neilsdomain.com
POP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@ispname.co.uk
I test this and all works wonderfully and mail flows into my phone. Then for some unknown reason when I come out and go back in the SMTP settings have changed by themselves to:
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com. Why would the SMTP Username change?
I am using a Pop3 mail account and can send and receive with no problem. But other than on the phone, I don't seem to get a copy of sent emails back on to the server. Is this the way Pop3 works, able to sync deleted mail with the server but not sent items?

I have my hotmail synced up but it only picks up a select few emails as new and when I go and delete the things they reappear during the next refresh cycle.Basically it does nothing but let me read the few mails it chose to display.Also, an unrelated note, when using the enter keybon the keyboard it sometimes works as intended to "submit" something say in the google search bar on the webpage.However sometimes instead of submitting, it acts as a tab button and skips to the next text field. This is best reproduced at google's site. When I type in the top search box (there are two on their mobile site) it tabs to the bottom box and I lose what I just typed.It happens on some websites to.Is there any way to set it to always submit?
View 5 Replies View RelatedGot my desire yesterday, having defected from Windows Mobile and spent all yesterday and today getting very frustrated! I successfully set up my various email accounts - except one which requires a SSL outgoing SMTP server on port 465. When I put the correct settings into the setup wizard it simply fails to complete the account setup. If I change any of the fields to an incorrect parameter, it gives an error but at least lets me save the settings and exit the wizard.
With the correct settings in place - it communicates with the server stating: "Verifying account information" and then promptly does nothing (it doesn't hang up, it just returns to the SMTP screen). The only way I can get out of the wizard is to enter an incorrect setting. This means that whilst receiving emails on this account is no problem, I am unable to reply to them or send any emails from this account. I know there is nothing wrong with my ISP (T-mobile uk) because I am using the same SIM from my Touch-pro where this account worked fine for the previous 18 months.
I have a pop 3 email account set up. When I delete and email it goes into the delete folder. Fine I get that. But is there a way to delete the contents of the delete folder? Is there a way to select multiple emails to delete at one time instead of doing 1 by 1?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find a good email set up on my Droid. When I got my droid I set up my email for POP3 since I have Yahoo Mail Plus. I do not want to use imap for many reasons. It set up no problem, put it constantly pulls old messages from the server or ones that I deleted off the phone (not the server) days earlier. So then, I switched to having gmail pull my yahoo mail via pop3. That solved the old message issues, but if anyone know about gmail, you can't set the frequency by which it pulls from the server. I would always get my email anywhere from 30 minutes to and hour and half after it was actually received. So today I tried the new imap set up. It works except I have a computer at home that's pulling the message via POP3. When it does that, it marks them as read on the server. Because of that I don't get notified of new messages. When the Droid syncs with yahoo, it shows that the message is already read.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got off the phone with Verizon Tech Support because my POP3 e-mail was being deleted from the mail server. I have the "Delete mail from server" off and I have performed the Factory Reset. The Tech Rep told me that it is a "known issue" and that a software update will be coming out to fix this issue. The Rep did not know when, but it's in the works.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was under whelmed with the email client which handles POP3 (hotmail, yahoo, verizon, etc.) accounts, and was looking for an "Outlook Mobile" type client, coming from my Moto Q. The stock client just seems to limited, aside from having some issues. Looking around, I came across the K9 Mail client and found that it was available in the Android Market. Its only been installed for a few minutes but in checking the settings/features, its much more robust than the stock client. Many more check intervals, options to set default number of messages, delete from server on delete option. The only caveat on install stated that it may have issues with Hotmail (i.e. Plus or paid accounts may have connection issues) but my basic free Hotmail came thru fine.
Text is much easier to read with the white background, black text and 2 line info display. You can also manage identities, and has more features I don't understand, and probably wont use. With my check interval at 3 hours, I sent a test message from my comcast account (not involved with DROID) just now and got some certificate error message from the program (has its own mail folder for errors), when I performed a manual check/sync. I just ran it again and the message came through. I think it may have been SMTP setting issues, but they seem resolved. Based on the the interface and options alone, I think I'll work with this app.

However, I was disappointed with its e-mail capabilities (or lack thereof) and quickly got rid of it.Due to the nature of my work, I use several different e-mail accounts and I need to be able to access them using imap so that when I move or delete an e-mail locally, it gets updated on the server. Can the G1 accommodate this? For each e-mail account, can you specify things like imap and smtp server?I use a gmail account, a google apps account and three other accounts with other e-mail providers.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have the option if I want to convert my main mail account to an Exchange account or keep it as an IMAP account. So far I have the phone setup with my IMAP and it's pretty decent, messages appear as unread if I've read them on another computer, I can switch to different folders I've setup, etc. The only thing is that it checks mail every 15 minutes (i could change it to 10 but the polling technique is still used). Is Exchange ActiveSync any better in Android or is it buggy? I'll switch if the push email really is instant and non buggy.

3. I considered just forwarding all email to gmail since it does use IMAP IDLE but I was wondering if I reply to an email that is forwarded to gmail will it send it from my gmail address or can I have it sent from the original forwarded address?
Attempting to setup my work email on my Evo.The incoming settings are correct and it connects no problem. However I am having some problems with the outbound settings.We do no require login for the outgoing server. So I removed the check mark but then the next button is grayed out.I am receiving email but am currently unable to send any messages.

Sometime my emails would arrive hours after they were sent, which in business is unacceptable. Multiple pop3 accounts and gmail through activesync worked so smooth on my windows mobile Omnia i910. I am now trying to use mail fetcher integrated in gmail. I like it ok, and it's polling interval is getting shorter all the time (since google automatically calculates how often it should do it). I setup the pop3 accounts to get Labeled as the email account they come in on and auto Archive. I Archive the mail because I do not like a common inbox. Call me old school or whatever but I like to keep my buisness and pleasure separated. Here is my question:
My real question is now on my phone how can I automatically tell when a new email arrives from one of those other accounts (since it auto archives under it's label and hence doesn't show up in my inbox). If I can get this working my phone will be everything I always wanted.
I can access my AOL, Comcast and obviously Gmail with no problems on my Droid. However I want to be able to access my companies email I have set up through powweb.com (they host my website). Anyway I keep getting error messages that it could not finish set up or sometimes it says Error: check user and password details. I triple checked and made sure I was putting in the right info and then I even went on the powweb website and made sure I was putting in the correct settings and even contacted someone there and they gave me some info to try and help and I am still getting error messages. I have tried POP and IMAP. The exchange account, is a fee based account.
