As of 11/07, I began having problems with Yahoo Mail through IMAP setup on my DINC. I no longer receive any new messages. I've restarted the phone. Deleted the account and set it up again. Not sure what happened.

I am trying to get my verizon yahoo mail account connected with my dinc, but I can't figure out how. I tried typing in my email and password when prompted by the mail icon on the home screen and it says it fails. I also had an issue with certiain links on the web not responding when clicked anyone have any ideas why?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Later after hours and Hours of Googling i found out these Steps to get it working with default Mail app.
Incoming:
Protocol IMAP
Server: htc.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: SSL
Port: 993
Outgoing
Server: htc.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type: SSL
Port: 465
Note: Yahoo mail App is available in market. It works just fine, but i feel ICS Mail app is lot better than Yahoo mail app.
Note: As my device is HTC, i have added htc.imap etc etc in server, if you are using different make. Remove HTC and give a try..
Pro's/cons of either setup via the HTC client? I currently have it set up using IMAP, but then I can't access email via WiFi. Yahoo doesn't support IMAP Idle, so it can't simulate push mail. Therefore you need to set a frequency for it to poll.
I was thinking of switching to SMTP so that I could use it at home via WiFi. I already have the IMAP poll frequency set to 1 hour, and could do the same with SMTP. Is there a good reason to stick with IMAP rather than SMTP?
I configured a couple of yahoo email accounts I have... got them setup no problem, did the manual setup, and selected IMAP... entered all the IMAP settings for incoming and outgoing servers... got it connected and receiving emails...
Problem is! NO PUSH? There's even an interval setting in the options, that asks how frequently to check, but NO PUSH...
I could have sworn when I had my first Nexus a few weeks back that my yahoo emails were getting push'ed but now I'm not so sure...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the option if I want to convert my main mail account to an Exchange account or keep it as an IMAP account. So far I have the phone setup with my IMAP and it's pretty decent, messages appear as unread if I've read them on another computer, I can switch to different folders I've setup, etc. The only thing is that it checks mail every 15 minutes (i could change it to 10 but the polling technique is still used). Is Exchange ActiveSync any better in Android or is it buggy? I'll switch if the push email really is instant and non buggy.

1. Why did HTC not include IMAP IDLE (push) as an option in their mail client?
2. Does K-9 Mail drain your battery faster if set to IMAP IDLE (push) ? I have heard varying opinions on this.
3. I considered just forwarding all email to gmail since it does use IMAP IDLE but I was wondering if I reply to an email that is forwarded to gmail will it send it from my gmail address or can I have it sent from the original forwarded address?
I have enjoyed being able to check all my e-mail accounts in one place, so despite having the Yahoo! Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedNot got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.
Is there a certain way that you have to setup yahoo email? Everytime I go to set it up says thatthe username and pw is incorrect and I know I'm putting it in right.

I remember getting this with handcent and default text program but easily shut that off. Can't seem to figure it out with mail. Any ideas how to disable the default mail notifications without deleting the account in the default mail app?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, Yahoo released its own mail and messenger apps today. I tried it out for about 5 minutes. It seems like a slimmer version of their Yahoo Go! that they used to have for Blackberry. So far, not impressed. But at least its a step in the right direction for them. They should just allow mail setup using IMAP or convert to exchange servers. That way Yahoo folks can have their calendars and contacts all synced up.

I have a gmail account which I never use, and my main Yahoo account. I set up the mail icon on the homescreen to take me to Yahoo mail, and it synchs to that account fine. However, when I try to compose an email, the only contacts it has are the 4 from my gmail account. When I send the email, though, it does come from my @yahoo.com address. Is there any way to get it to give me my contacts from Yahoo? I saw that there is a Yahoo app, but the reveiws looked pretty bad so I was hoping to just use the standard mail feature.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have adjusted the Outgoing server settings from the standard Incredible settings for Yahoo IMAP to ones that are posted for the Motorola Droid, which is the same as (i believe) K-9 and my sent messages do not make it to Yahoo mail.Neither SMTP server setting within HTC mail syncs my sent mail. I am only looking for 1-way (device to server) sync. I don't expect 2-way sync.Both K-9 Mail and ROID mail are able to sync sent messages.

I got the low space warning three days after the update, so I deleted the HTC Mail accounts to start over since it had gotten to over 100MB. It loaded my msn just fine, but said that it couldn't authenticate my yahoo. I thought my PW was wrong, so I used the laptop to get a new PW, and confirmed it by logging into it on the laptop and again at work on the desktop. I went to add the new yahoo mail account to the phone, and I'm still getting the authentication failure message. Can someone please help! Yes, I still use yahoo for less important mail/notifications.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've seen various threads about IMAP settings to use for Yahoo email, but it wasn't clear from most of the posts I read whether it was referring to free Yahoo email or a Yahoo-based account associated with home high speed internet. Some gave parameters not using SSL encryption, and I know that would not work for me, but some used very similar setup to what I currently use on my Palm Pre (which uses an IMAP server with "palm" at the beginning of the name, so I don't know if there's a "secret handshake" between the Pre and the server that disallows access via other devices).
I have AT&T DSL (swbell domain email) and am strongly considering dumping my Pre for an EVO, but IMAP access to my swbell account is a must-have. I have a gmail account, but I'm pretty well-established with the swbell account, and don't want to deal with auto-forwarding. So has anyone successfully set up IMAP access to an AT&T/Yahoo email account? I tried using an IMAP server and parameters I found here through Windows Live Mail, but I keep getting some sort of certificate error claiming my system doesn't support something the server is expecting. I have tried in the past with Thunderbird as well using the palm IMAP server, and never succeeded with that either. So I'm a little hesitant to take the plunge until I have a high level of confidence it'll work. Plus I'm waiting for the Android version of HanDBase anyway, since I use that via Classic on my Pre. I don't mind buying an email client if the standard android client doesn't support it. I may do that anyway if there are better ones out there.
Does anyone know how to just receive regular emails instead of everything, like bulk and spam emails?

"Unable to send mail."
"The account setting is incorrect (Yahoo)."
I press on the actual Notification, and it automatically prompts me to change account settings.

I re-entered my yahoo password to see if that's problem, and now get a warning message saying, "Authentication failed. Please verify username/password" but that's my correct username and password for Yahoo.
I'm a iPhone user switching over to the Incredible. Does the software allow instant push email notification with yahoo mail? I know it does for Gmail. I have Yahoo Plus ~ so that may help.Also, within the Mail application how many accounts can you have?
