Just a quick question to those who have brought the Desire from mobilephonesdirect.com on a T-mobile contract. What data allowance have you got? Have you got the standard 3Gb T-mob gives to Android phones or have you got less? I have browsed their site and under their 'unlimited mobile internet' it says 1Gb.

Is there anyone out there that has obtained a Desire direct from T-Mobile (UK) proper, rather than buying an unbranded one and sticking a T-Mobile SIM in it? If so, could one of you try popping a non-T-Mob SIM in it and see if the phone comes SIM-locked or not for me please?

irect reI am planning on getting THIS HTC Desire contract from Mobile Phones Direct, this will be my first ever contract phone and my first ever android phone, I am planning on getting this deal: I have a few questions: Are Mobile Phones D liable on a non redemption contract like this? Is this a good deal? I know that T-Mobile has recently changed its contract to say its 3GB FUP is only for its direct customers but if I got this contract and phoned them up and said I have an android what are the chances I could talk them into putting me on the 3GB FUP instead of the 1GB? and finally if the above is a no then is there any speed difference between those on the 1GB UP and those on the 3GB FUP? If you can help me with these questions then thank you very very much, this is my first contract and I don't want to mess it up.

Install Android on your HTC Windows Mobile phones - Kongtechnology.com. Google, the land of milk and honey, have smashed open the smartphone market when they released their Android platform for free to developers and in one fell swoop, gave a huge stride forward for smartphones everywhere. Traditionally, the smartphone market relied on specific operating systems such as Nokias Symbian, Palms PalmOS and Apple with their iPhone OS. Each company fights to keep their software on their own phones and the result is that a person is locked into using only phones from a particular company if they are familiar with the software. As they say, you cant have your pie and eat it.

I'm planning on building an application where audio media is going to be streamed to the mobile phone for the user to listen. The targets are smartphones: iPhone/Blackberry/Android/(J2ME ?).I see that streaming on iPhone has to be done with HTTP Live streaming, but I don't see it supported by other platforms.Should I broadcast the streams via rstp ? http ? Is there any way to use a unified solution for all the different mobile platform ? If anyone already had to go through this, help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, here's a head scratcher.
Situation: I use an iRiver S10 MP3 player (2GB) when riding. Normally if Im going on a long ride (a few days) I will need to take my notebook along if I want to change songs on the player.
So, what Im trying to work out is this. Is there a way to transfer MP3s from my Desire's SD card to the S10 via USB (maybe using a USB Data Transfer cable and the required adaptors?).
Any ideas/suggestions? Could it be possible?

I am interested in implementing an Augmented Reality application for mobile phones using Adobe Flash Platform.
Can you please let me know if any sources is available for me to find out how to start? I'm not sure what software I need to use to implement AR but as I can understand I need: ARToolKit Marker Generator to create the marker matching with the 3D image, then FLARToolKit to analyze the image from the marker and Papervision3D to create an object that shares that same space with the marker. Can you please let me know if what I wrote is correct and advise me how to start the implementation on Adobe Flash platform?

Android Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.

I was looking at the Traveler's Insurance Co. website and they have an app for iphone and blackberry but not for Android. I though this was a bit odd. They do have an m.travelers.com site, but I was hoping for an app with a little quicker and easier way to get insurance info and to help with any accidents/claims on the spot.

What did you insure? How much did you pay? Did you have to make any claims? If so, how did the claims process go, and what was the result? Have you noticed anything about Worth Ave insurance that you think may go unnoticed if not looking closely Any and all information is helpful.

I was lied to by Verizon. When I upgraded I was told that my current 6 dollar plan would cover my phone the same way my old phone was covered. Luckily I called today and found out the truth. They offer a 6 dollar plan that does indeed cover the Droid. It only will cover it for 1 Year. Outside of a year then you are not covered at all. So thinking logically I asked about the 9 dollar plan and was told it does cover you outside of the 1 year warranty. Here comes the stupid part, you are forced to purchase either one of these plans within 30 days of getting the phone even though you are technically covered under the manu warranty for 1 year. So basically you need to pay verizon 108 dollars for a years worth of coverage when your phone is technically already covered. Does anyone else see an issue with this
