I have been looking for a good deal on the Hero. I found the website mobilephonesdirect.co.uk, and they are offering the Hero at �25 for 24 months on Vodafone with 100 mins and 500 txts and unlimited internet. The phone is free and it looks like a great deal. Does anyone have any experience of comments on dealing with these guys?

irect reI am planning on getting THIS HTC Desire contract from Mobile Phones Direct, this will be my first ever contract phone and my first ever android phone, I am planning on getting this deal: I have a few questions: Are Mobile Phones D liable on a non redemption contract like this? Is this a good deal? I know that T-Mobile has recently changed its contract to say its 3GB FUP is only for its direct customers but if I got this contract and phoned them up and said I have an android what are the chances I could talk them into putting me on the 3GB FUP instead of the 1GB? and finally if the above is a no then is there any speed difference between those on the 1GB UP and those on the 3GB FUP? If you can help me with these questions then thank you very very much, this is my first contract and I don't want to mess it up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I first plugged in my ear phones into my first Hero phone after a while (5 min) the songs shuttled and turned itself off. I tried to listen to some music again but the phone didn?t recognise that the ear phones were plugged in after that. I sent that phone back and got a new phone. I was going to wait until 2.1 OS came out but when I heard that it wasn?t coming out till March I thought I might try this new phone out been as though I have had it for a couple of months without listening to any music (expected the same though). And the same happen again. It sounds like its the 1.5 OS or the ROM not updated yet because I had already set up all the phone before I realised I had to do this. So thats why I decided to wait until 2.1 and get it all over with and hope it solves the problem.

I'm wondering if I should wait for the GSM moto droid or a GSM htc passion. Or just get the hero now. The benifits of waiting for me personally is faster hardware, and better screen/resolution. The downfalls of waiting is I could be waiting a long time for a GSM version of those phones. 2) The biggest thing that concerns me is about buying the hero is performance. I have a iphone 2g and what pisses me off about it is the performance, and that it has no multitasking. If I get the hero I don't want the performance to bother me. I have no issues if I need taskiller to close a few apps every now and then to keep the performance good. I'd like to know if performance is a real problem, or just a minor annoyance. 3) Is the "jump to letter" feature in the music player? for example can I jump to the music artists that begin with Y, instead of scrolling from the top all the way down? 4) Is there a button to show your currently running apps? or your most recent apps? If so, which is it? running or recent? Can you launch apps from that screen? 5) Is the warranty on the European GSM hero valid in the United States? Is the warranty card that comes with the phone used for anything? do you need it to have a warranty on your phone? What does it say on it?
