How long do these last for? Do they last until you discover the text, missed call or notification? Or do they stop eventually. Sometimes I seem to get them and other times they tend to expire or not flash at all.

So I got hand cent today, and I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. One tiny problem though, when I receive a text, I still receive it on the stock messaging app and also on hand cent, so I'm getting 2 notifications for the same text and having to read it in the stock messaging app to clear the notification. How do I get rid of that?

I have checked the settings and i have ticked all the options but nothing.
Am i right in thinking that the phone should alert me to any post even when i am on the home screen (i.e. not in facebook app)?
I've gone back to stock sms after a stint with handcent. I'm happy with the stock app but there are two things I'm missing.
1. The repeat audible notifications if I don't hear it the first time
2. Blue LED notification
Are there any free apps which can add these features?
Everytime I receive an email to my gmail account on my new Desire I receive two different notifications for the same email. My desire displays an envelope icon and a capital 'M' icon for the same mail and I have to go in and acknowledge both notifications to make the icons dissappear. How can I recieve only one notification for my gmail account.

I checked my settings and noticed all the ringtones were no longer listed when selecting a ringtone/alarm/notification. Using a file browser I was able to located all the missing ringtones, under /system/media/audio. This may be relevant, my phone recently was low on data and i had uninstalled some programs, although none of which as far as im aware, has anything to do with the ring tones.

The notifications are not coming through on gmail when I get a mail and when I go into the inbox it wont update manually either.
Also this morning I discovered that I cant get into google talk anymore, it simply will not even open. Everything was working fine up till yesterday.Is there a problem with google at the moment I don't know about?
I've recently installed Handcent SMS on my Desire and now find I get two notifications when SMSs arrived. The first from the phone's standard message app and another from Handcent. Does anyone know how to turn off the notification for the phone's app?

I get the normal 1 and now a another 1 saying new message(s) which will clear if i click. Also my text message ringtone plays twice also. I use SMS popup as well, but i have been using that for at least 3 months with no problems.

The notifications option is set to "Notify when items are updated" and I've tried various combinations of disabling and enabling it and rebooting the phone and still I'm not getting notifications for updates. I always got notified when I had 2.1.I've posted this a few times in the bugs thread, but it just gets lost in all the other talk, which is why I've started this thread.

View 6 Replies View RelatedDuring the day, my Desire may accumulate a number of notifications from Calendar, the Missed Call app, and from other apps. I would like to be able to clear these individually, rather than using the Clear button at the top of the notification screen, which clears all outstanding notifications in bulk. Long clicking a notification to get an option to clear it would be an ideal solution.
Is there a way of doing this, or something similar? Have I missed something obvious?
i have a HTC Desire and although i used to get them at first i am no longer getting the notifications when apps are ready for update, i have the settings clicked to alert me but i have had several apps needed updates recently and none gave me the notification, has any body else had this issue and how can it be resolved, not a majot issue but just frustrating.

When i send text messages to some contacts, the phone decides to send them not as an sms but as an email or sometime even an mms! 2. My voicemail notifications are being received under one of my Facebook contacts instead of just plain Vodafone! Very weird as my contacts list isnt set to display Facebook contacts even though its an option! Is anyone else having the same problem and been able to fix this? Im sure its just the settings that need to be changed but ive had a play and just cant seem to stop it happening!

Both from Gmail just different looking screens. I usually get the outlined envelope in my notification bar but sometimes will get that and also the solid white envelope. Both are the same email just two different notifications. Doesn't happen all the time.

When I click on the mailbox it seems to open a whole new page in white, same emails though. Also, when I receive an email I get TWO notifications and effectively have to click on both and open the email twice to delete it. It seems the gmail inbox is duplicated?

My only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.

Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
just got the phone a week ago.i'm using Google Calendar exclusively for all my date keeping. it's great to see that the default calendar apps sync with google calendar (GC)now, in GC (the web version) i set up the default reminders for new appointments to be a) email and b) sms.i noticed that, in order to get notifications on my PHONE as well, i need to add c) pop up to it. tested and that seems to work fine. will that pop up show anywhere else as well though? i never used that notification option before.and i noticed the following two annoying things:
1) default appointment notifications not set when appointment made using phone calendar application
when i make a new appointment from my PHONE, it shows up on the web version after a sync, that's all very cool. BUT then the appointment does not get assigned the default notification options (email and SMS), it only has pop up. any way to work around that? can't seem to find options for that.
2) when appointment made via application, web version of the appointment shows me as a GUEST who has confirmed that's a bit rubbish?! i.e. the experience is totally different from the appointments i set using the web version of GC.
Update:I got a app called "GMail Label Notifier"...it serves the same purpose and is really much more flexible since you can assign unique alerts to each trigger You just need to setup filters in Gmail to apply a label. I have been using it a week or so now and it seems to work great.
I have moved from a BB Tour to the HTC Incredible and really like the Android OS.
A few things I really rely on though I can't seem to replicate on Android. The most important is the "Level 1" or high importance message tagging. With BIS I could setup a filter so that any emails with a specific word or words in the subject line or from a specific email address caused a different alert on the BB when received.
Also, I can't find many options for different notifications like a specific one for emails, another for SMS, another for voice mails, etc.
