HTC Desire : Gmail Inbox Is Duplicated - Get Two Notifications Of Receiving
Aug 29, 2010
I have the gmail widget which displays my inbox (black background) with a little mailbox in the top right. When I click on the mailbox it seems to open a whole new page in white, same emails though. Also, when I receive an email I get TWO notifications and effectively have to click on both and open the email twice to delete it. It seems the gmail inbox is duplicated?

Does anyone know how to set it so that my Android phone only notifies me when I get a message in my "Priority Inbox" (the new feature Google just launched in case you don't know what it is)? With my email I receive a bunch of newsletters, so instead of being notified every time one of them arrives I'd like to be notified only when messages in my Priority Inbox arrive.Being able to be alerted to messages with certain labels only would also work.

HTC Hero by Sprint, running 2.1.6...I notice that I get my gmail updates almost instantaniously during the day, but at night I will get one and if I don't touch the phone, I won't get another until I start using the phone again. Is this some sort of "sleep" feature where you will not recieve gmail notifications while you are not using the phone (over night), or is it just my imagination?? I have noticed this numerous times over the past couple months, although I have not really been putting this theory to a controled test.

I've recently installed Handcent SMS on my Desire and now find I get two notifications when SMSs arrived. The first from the phone's standard message app and another from Handcent. Does anyone know how to turn off the notification for the phone's app?

I'm having some trouble with my gmail app. Sometimes it just does not receive email. I tell it to manually refresh but still non of my new emails appear. When this problem occurs however, the app does still display the number of new emails in brackets at the top next to 'inbox'. Strange. Even stranger is the fact that sometimes this app works fine. I have done all the obvious things (restart, task killers, wi-fi check) but I am yet to find a solution. I know I could just use the HTC mail app, but I don't like it as much.

I have had my desire for a few months now and I love it. But since yesterday I have had a problem with my gmaila nd google talk.
The notifications are not coming through on gmail when I get a mail and when I go into the inbox it wont update manually either.
Also this morning I discovered that I cant get into google talk anymore, it simply will not even open. Everything was working fine up till yesterday. Is there a problem with google at the moment I don't know about?

Googled this issue and can't seem to find the resolution. I am using the Gmail app which came pre-installed on the phone. I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.

My environment is:
1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.

Right, I'm fairly certain my GMail isn't using push to notify me of new emails arriving as I have just gone into GMail and hit the refresh button and it's fired out 3 new emails from throughout the day.I need to manually set push notifications or should it happen automatically?

I have both my hotmail and gmail accounts set up but don't seem to get notifications of new emails. I only receive them upon going into the app itself. How do I get it so that I get a number icon or whatever over the app to show I have received emails?

Why is it that sometimes when I receive emails I get two notifications for one email?? They are different formats of notifications though. Both from Gmail just different looking screens. I usually get the outlined envelope in my notification bar but sometimes will get that and also the solid white envelope. Both are the same email just two different notifications. Doesn't happen all the time.

I debranded and upgraded my Desire to Froyo last night (Woohoo!) and now the music player has duplicate entries for certain albums.
Basically, when I look through the albums in the list it shows some albums twice and when you select each one you get one entry which has all the right tracks and a second with maybe 2 duplicate tracks in. If I delete the extra tracks I lose them from the correct album entry so the files themselves don't seem to be doubled, only the entry in the media player.
Anybody else had this problem? I've tried deleting the offending albums and adding them using both Windows Media Player and by adding them into the relevant folders using Explorer but it makes no difference.

I've noticed that I'm not receiving notifications that apps I've downloaded from the Android Market have available updates. The user manual shows a little icon of an Android shopping bag in the 'Status Bar - Notification Icons' section (page 7), so I think something's wrong. For example, just today I went into the Android Market to download a new app and upon checking 'My Downloads', I noticed seven apps that had updates available. At least four of these apps had been opened and used within the last hour, and still nothing was mentioned about the update. Is anyone else noticing the same?

When I start the gmail app I would like it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox. Instead it starts with some old message displayed and I have to tap menu - Back to Inbox so I can see new messages. And it's not like it's opening the last message that I was reading either - it's some older message pretty far down in the Inbox. Is there any way to force it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox when I start the app?

I hoard emails, because I first got gmail when I had a mac which uses the mail client, so I just never deleted them.Anyway, this means that when I first synced my phone, I ended up with nearly 14,000 emails. They are all unread. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know you can adjust the gmail settings to only forward new emails to pop but I can't take off and re-sync my account.I'm on a motorola droid, in case that's necessary info.

I am running on the HTC EVO and as soon as I got my phone I set up my Gmail account through the automatic setup process. I used android market to get the Gmail widget (the one where the icon has the message coming out of the envelope and it looks like a red 'M'). That was working fine and I was getting my e-mails without any problems. The other day, I was tinkering with settings and I set up the HTC Mail widget, which I (stupidly) linked to the same Gmail account. I started to receive double notifications for my e-mails. I quickly realized I preferred the Gmail widget I was using previously, so I removed my account from the HTC Mail widget. So, my problem is that I no longer receive any notifications from the original Gmail widget when I get new e-mails. In fact, I no longer receive any notifications when I get e-mails. I have gone through all the settings I could find and all notifications are set to update automatically and alert me. The only thing I have not yet done is the account reset because this says I will have to reset my phone to factory settings and I don't want to lose everything I have on it at this point.

I am an end android user. I have Samsung Galaxy GT-I7500. A few days back I downloaded the Handcent SMS app. I am happy with the app. But I was receiving notifications both from my native app and Handcent SMS. In order to stop the notification I used Advanced Task Manager to remove the native SMS app in the name of 'SMS' instead of the disabling the notification. Instead of removing the messaging service my data usage notification SMS from my service provider has stopped. I am receiving other messages and able to send messages. I have flashed my ROM but the 'SMS' app is still not installed.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Express that has recently decided to no longer show me when I receive notifications from apps. This includes any app I have downloaded: gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.
I have tried checking the notification settings both within the apps themselves and in my phone settings.

I just got an EVO, and I'm loving everything except this one thing. I would like my gmail app to default to "all mail," instead of simply "inbox." Why? I have some messages skip my gmail inbox (like facebook notifications or weekly coupons), so I have set labels to fix that! Keeps a clean inbox. BUT I want to still be notified of Facebook emails on my phone without having to specifically look for them. Say someone tags me in an unflattering picture, and I'm away from my laptop? I'd like to know right away! I have different needs for my phone and my laptop Does anyone else have these problems? Or...solutions?

Whenever I go into Gmail (I do not have push notification on, just check it every once in a while) it will say at the top "Inbox (2)", but then says "No Conversations" in the middle of the screen where it is supposed to list all the emails in my Inbox. I know that there are two in there because they are there whenever I check Gmail on my computer.I looked for an option in the Gmail settings in case it only shows unread mail, but can't find anything. If I navigate to a different label, it will show all the emails in them, just not the Inbox. It started out OK, but I just noticed it a day or so ago doing this.My father was messing around with my phone the other day, and I'm wondering if he did something?

I've heard this happening with Gmail to other people, but I didn't believe it, now it's happening to me. I had a very very very vitally important email sent to me yesterday, and after viewing it, it just vanished. Gone for good. I can't find it. I've checked every folder, I've checked All Mail, I've checked trash, I've checked spam, drafts, everywhere. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had an email vanish in the past 3 months. Completely gone, as if it never existed, without me deleting it.Has anyone else experienced this with Gmail? I know a few people who don't use Gmail for this very reason, but I thought they were crazy, now it's happening to me. HELP! I need that email back
