I recently read that AppBrain updated their app to v5.0 but that the Fast Web Installer that pushing apps to your phone from Appbrain.com WITHOUT having to go through the Market is broken with the v5.0 update because of changes with the Market's recent update.

QUESTION: does the Fast Web Install still work with earlier versions of AppBrain?? I have kept v4.8 installed on my phone but I'm having a problem with the Fast Web Install. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing a temporary issue or if the Market update is affecting ALL versions of the Appbrain fast web push?
Where can i get Swype from? What's the latest version?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased a HTC Desire a few days ago and I think it's great. However, there is one thing that bothers me. I've been quite slow at joining the smartphone community, primarily due to all the reports/stories of high phonebills relating to internet usage. So, having got my hands on the phone its self - I thought I'd play with it for a while and stick to using my home wifi connection for downloading apps and playing with map applications etc.
The phone came pre-installed with Android 2.2 and therefore has this wireless hotspot app built in. So, to see how it worked, I enabled the feature and connected to the phone from my laptop.
My first surprise was that it worked. My laptop was connected to the phone and web pages were loading up on it. Realising that my phone was already set up to connect to my wireless router for internet access though, I figured that it was probably sharing that connection with my laptop. Well, at least that's what I was hoping...
At this point I unplugged my home modem/router and tried again. Fully expecting my laptop to complain about the lack of internet connectivity, I was quite shocked to find that web pages were loading up on my laptop and there's now a '3G' logo (with flashing up/down arrows) showing on the top status bar of the phone.
From what I've said here, my only conclusion is that my phone is transferring data over the mobile phone network, but considering that I don't have a data plan, how can this be? If I disable the hotspot feature (with my home router switched off), my phone cannot access the internet, but if I enable the wireless hotspot feature of the phone and connect to it - my laptop can.
My SIM card is from Tchibo Germany (o2 network).
What is the black box that kinda looks like a barcode on appbrain? Is there some kind of scanner that this is used with?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd like to put Appbrain on my Compaq Airlife 100, but I think their website thinks my Airlife is not an Android device as the page which I think is supposed to have the link on it says something like "Navigate here on your Android device", but of course, the Airlife *is* and Android device.
Anyway, anyone know where I can just download the APK file? There is no Marketplace on the Airlife, so I can't get it there.
It's a free application, so I'm not sure why it's so difficult to come by. I managed to get an old APK (version 2), but it crashed all the time, I'd like to try 3.2.1 and see if the issues are resolved.

Is it just me or is appbrain not working properly? I have been trying to get on for the last 2 days and its not working. Just wanted to know if anyone else was having this issue.
OK appbrain don't work it opens up than i choose to open up a menu from inside the app it loads than goes back to home page of the app so annoying i cant use it for anything?

Got another question, why is it Adobe flash player 10 will show up in appbrain but won't show up in the regular market, I had to find out about the update thru appbrain.
I have had this problem for a while now. Some apps just refuse to update. Appbrain being one of them. It says downloading then downloading failed. I even uninstalled it and installed from market still no go.I have about 5 apps that just refuse to update and now i dont even have appbrain because it wont download it. Anyone have a link to the apk to appbrian 5.11? or whatever the newest one is. When i press cancel download on the appbrain page it force closes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided to wipe the phone couple days after 2.2 update. I was experiencing severe lag time while typing. Also zooming (double-tap) in browser wouldn't work. Anyway, I cant get appbrain to sync. I installed appbrain on phone and have signed in with same account but none of my apps show up just the pre-installed ones on the phone. When I look on web all my apps still show up in My Apps.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have two email addresses, one is my fullname@gmail.com which i use for private "serious" stuff like bank account logins, personal email to freinds/family, facebook, etc. and then i have my "internet" email which is my screenname@gmail.com which i use for forum signups, craigslist entries and for fun pretty much.
question is, when i get my android phone, do i have to assign an email address to the phone? when i tried to sign up for appbrain it asked me to log into my gmail account but i wasn't sure which one i would use.
is it pretty much provide a gmail address then do whatever you want? i justdon't want my private email address to be compromised in the future.

It seems difficult sometimes because spammers run around to so many apps saying "Great, I got the full version at" and it is the exact same thing at dozens of other products.Does the market or appbrain ever monitor their sites for spammers?

I've been trying to update Dante via both Appbrain and Market but they seem to be stuck on the download process. It's been trying for at least a week but no go. I've tried cancelling download multiple times to start again which immediately leads to a FC on com.android.vending. I uninstalled Dante on my phone hoping it would clear it out but no. I tried uninstalling Appbrain for the same reason, still no. Cleared caches on both Appbrain and Market no change. Shut down phone and did a battery pull same result. I'm out of ideas at this point any one else have anything? btw, I can download, update, and install everything else i've tried so other than dante all seems well.

I signed up on the AppBrain website and down loaded the app, so i sync all my apps on there site and I thought this was great so I could see all my apps I have downloaded and now I log into the sight and I cant see my apps. On the side of the website I can see how many apps i have down loaded but I can not see my apps.
