I finally took the leap and installed a custom rom (Defrost 4.9). Before I did, I took a full android backup and a full Titanium backup.I suspect I missed something, but I can't seem to get my SMS messages back.Would anyone have any suggestions? It's not the end of the world if I have to restore the android backup to recover them, but I would rather not obviously.

I was wondering if there is any way to back up my text messages from my HTC Desire onto my laptop? I installed the back-up disk I got with my phone but it only lets you back up pictures.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just did the stock undervolted a couple days ago, everything went smoothly, then today while texting my battery died. After plugging it back in and powering up, all the text messages and emails I've received since the install are now gone. The emails I easily retrieved, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a solution to get the text messages back or stop it from happening again. My text messages are important for work.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid yesterday and installed the 2.1 rom. I am not happy with the lack of keyboard backlighting and it seems quite buggy to me. I want to know how to go back to 2.0.1 Do I just replace the file in my nandroid folder with my original backup? One other thing I am wondering is, will having my phone rooted mess up any ota updates of 2.1 that Verizon releases?

SD Card, Hotspot, Charging, WiFi, Bluetooth doesn't work. I have no clue what options are left for me to install a new ROM. It doesn't recognize my SD card. Odin doesn't recognize the phone. (drivers and everything for pc is fine, other phones work). I didn't make a backup or anything.
Installed Handcent and was wondering if there is a way to disable the native messages application as double messages is starting to become annoying
View 8 Replies View RelatedI gave the update a chance, for something like a week. Finally put Panda back. I had hoped that the update might make it worth it.
I have no idea what the update was really supposed to do in terms of performance but it's been a zero sum game. I don't give a flaming politician about live wallpaper or exploding gallery icons.
I like Panda's pull-outs that go across all desktops and the alphabetical pull-up. The stock phone is really lacking in terms of app organization. Photo organization too.
I downloaded the 2.1 zip to sd card, and cleaned all off of sd card, EXCEPT the zip file. Put the other 1.5 files on another sd card Installed 2.1, no issues at all. Runs great. Do I need to put those misc files back on, or are they included in 2.1.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed a custom ROM on my Samsung vibrant. after the installation was complete the phone restarted, but it would freeze on "vibrant" and it wont start up. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in. I was able to get the phone back to recovery mode. I can reinstall the same update.zip file, but the phone would still not start up. is there a way to access the phone memory to replace the update.zip file so the phone would work again? Or anything else I can do ?

Anyways, I started having a few problems so I was going to take it to stock and redo everything.
I have the stock 2.1 sbf file and I put it back to my phone using RSD lite.
It installed fine except it changed my PRL number to some weird higher number and now I can't get my phone to activate because it has the roaming triangle and is roaming on US Cellular.
I reinstalled my custom rom and used rom manager to restore the image I had saved before I recovered and all is well except I cannot activate my phone because I can't see a verizon network.
I even went into the programming menu and replaced the SID, MDN and MIN with all the settings in my Droid X but no dice.
I have found a way to write a new PRL but I can't get the HW virtual port app to work. So basically I am stuck.
I installed fresh .3 now my front camera works but but rear camera just shows like a pink white noise type fuzziness anyone heard of or seen this?

When I try to text here it lags like crazy (I assume because it has all the messages on that page). Like, it will not respond and i have to wait like 15 seconds before i can type between messages sometimes.. very annoying. Anyways, I can't seem to find any way to back these up?

Is there a way to set a custom ringtone for text messages? I see in the music app to set a song as a ringtone but it doesn't let me set it as a text tone. I also made a song a ringtone but it was not available to the text app. Someone mentioned Handscent but I was hoping to use the stock app. The Droids stock app apparently does allow music for ringtones as I just confirmed from my brother in law.

I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail. I dont know how that happened or what I can do to associate them to Gmail. Ideally I would like to perform a back up for personal use instead of on google, and restore when ever I need it.
- How can I convert existing contacts from phone to Gmail status.
- How can I perform a back up and restore, independent of Gmail syncing.
- I used a back up tool to send my text messages as mail to Gmail. I am ok with that but would ideally want to restore the messages back to my phone too. Is it possible.
Weird issue here but very very frustrating. When I'm scrolling up through a conversion to view old texts in a thread once I take my finger off the screen it immediately just snaps back to the bottom (newest texts) so I can't scroll up past like 6 previous texts. I tried a battery pull and still does it.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I send text messages which are longer than one line but less than 100 characters, sometimes the other person texts back that all they see is an empty box. At first I thought it was the other persons phone but several people are telling me the same thing. This does not always happen, but often. One liners seem to have no problems. I called Rogers tech support and they give me the same aswers all the time for different problems.
1. reset the phone to factory settings(which I already did, and same thing happened)
2. If you would like we can send a replacement phone since the problem seems to be hardware related.( I doubt this, since I can send texts and other person receives them, except the times they receive an empty box)
So the charging port broke on my old hero, and i got a replacement. And i downloaded sms backup to take all my texts and turn them into an xml file on the sd card. On the new hero, i downloaded the same program but it does not seem to want to restore the texts back.
Any ideas on how to take that XML file and turn them back into text messages?
