When creating a custom account and/or sync adapter, raw_contacts that belong to your custom account can be created. But it looks like that they then cannot be edited with the Contact app! Is this a known limitation, or a problem in my code?

Under the 'Accounts & Sync' settings graphical OS menu, there are listings of user-configured Google accounts. Please could someone point me in the right direction to programmatically change the sync settings associated with one of these accounts?

The problem for me is that when the grid list gets large enough to scroll off the screen the gridview and arraylist get out of sync. For instance in my case I have code that checks if an actor is of type director the text color should be red. if you scroll up and down my list enough times all the actors text in my gridview will become red. The thing is that the Gridview appearance actually looks fine its the backing data. Here is the complete class. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to re-establish or manually add the Facebook syncronization option to an existing contact in my Contacts app? I lost the Facebook sync icon in the contact information and this is inconvienent at best, and possibly is the cause of disabling the phone functionality at worse. Subsequent behavior on at least two occassions has shown that attempts to dial out using this particular contact locks up the dialer, causing multiple forces closes, and essentially disables the phone functionally both in and out of the phone for long periods time (10-20 mins) until the application can be correctly cleared and purged from memory.
I was able to successfully sync my Contacts with both my Google contact list and then all my Facebook friends. However some of the contact information was not exactly how I preferred and attempts to update that information using the Google contact list was not always successful. Not entirely sure if this is a bug or by design. I was able to successfully modify one contacts name with Facebook sync from first name first to last name first (to correct sorting to my preference). A second contact wouldn't modify no matter if I updated the name information on Google contact or on the phone itself. Finally I attempted to delete the contact and re-add it. This worked but now I lost its Facebook sync (no Facebook icon to click within the contact information). I'm not sure if this detachment is causing the dialer problems.
After syncing all my Facebook friends with my contacts (for complete-ism), I successfully deleted some Facebook friends from my contact list. But what if I want one back with Facebook sync, is that possible?
When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

I want to use my gmail account from my phone and have all emails sync on my device. But I do not want to sync my gmail contacts with my "local" contacts (local being the contacts stored on my phone). I only want to sync my emails.
I read on another web site that one guy managed to sync his Outlook contacts with his Android phone contacts, but once he started to configure his gmail account, all his local contacts were automatically saved in his gmail account, and vice versa. Is there a way to use gmail with only emails sync, and without contacts sync? I prefer to be sure that it is possible (and know how to do it) before starting to use gmail on the phone. My Outlook contacts contain lots of professional contacts that I do not want to see in my private gmail account.
Here's the situation I have.
The GMail account I have and registered to my cell phone when I got it is an account I've had since the first few weeks GMail was in beta by invitation only over 5 years ago. Needless to say, I have hundreds of contacts in that account.
When I activated my Droid, they ALL came over. What a mess. The Verizon guy emptied my contacts on the phone and uploaded my phone book from my BlackBerry.
I want to sync my Droid's address book to a second gmail account I made just for this purpose, but I can't get them to sync over. How do I delegate my phone's contacts sync with that second Gmail account?
I added it under Gmail and logged in. Under Contacts > Accounts, that account sync is ON for contacts and auto-sync & Background data is checked.
I was composing a message and the phone got stuck when I was about to select the recipients. (Wanted to group send message so that's why I was not answering directly.) After waiting for a while the phone was still not responding then I forced to shut down and turned it on again. Okay I again edited the same text and tap to choose receivers. Good grief! NO CONTACTS! EMPTY! Why? What happened?
I first tried to sync Gmail contacts back to my Sony Xperia, however when I logged in to Gmail and it was the same! NO CONTACTS!
Long story short, I finally found Myjad Android Contact Recovery which seems to be useful because I want simply the contacts. So any example of trying successfully restoring lost contacts with this program?

I've linked both my yahoo and gmail accounts to the contact app on the droid. I can get two way sync with the gmail contacts, but the contact app won't allow me to edit any Yahoo contacts!
Is there a way to get two way sync of contacts b/t yahoo mail and the droid contact app?

When I set up my new (refurb) phone with my gmail account, I had tons of contacts in my phone that I had never seen before. The girl at sprint said it imports all of my email contacts, and it looked like they had added contacts from email addresses I had only emailed once, that werent even in my contacts group on my email. They ended up wiping my contacts and transferring them over from my old hero. She said I should create a new gmail account, and use it ONLY for syncing my contacts, that way I dont get all the other email contacts in my phone also. Im wondering how I do this, because I want to set it up before 2.1 comes out for the hero, so when I upgrade to 2.1, I wont have the same issue.

My idiotic sister logged out of my account without my permission, logged into hers and left it like that. Now my facebook account wont sync with my phone contacts again. Everytime i go to my contacts, tap on options and go to 'accounts' and select my facebook from the list of accounts i've added, the 'sync now' button works but when I click on it it says 'sync disabled'.
I went onto my FB app and looked for account sync options but I couldnt find any.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.

A strange i'm having is that after the sync is over, the Android still shows the sync icon (the one with the rounded arrow) in the account activity, and that someone (i guess its the account manager) repeatedly calls the sync again and again, every 30 to 60 seconds. Now i tried all sort of things to test this issue and i have discovered something strange. In my code, i do resolver.applyBatch every 50 new rows. (each new contact i sync has about 5 rows). If i remove the applyBatch (which means i retrieve the data from the next, sort it and prepare it, but never "commit" it) - the problem goes away. The icon disappear and the account manager never calls it again on its own (I'm using Android 2.1). I must also state that no exception is being thrown in any of the cases and that all the methods finish gracefully.

He wants to sync his contacts and calendar.On my Droid, I go to accounts & sync > add account > Google > enter my address and password.i get offered to sync Calendar and/or Contacts, by clicking on the check box.On his Epic, he adds the account, but there are no options, no check boxes!
