View 1 RepliesI just got my HTC Desire yesterday (my 1st smartphone) but I can't read Chinese SMS. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance.
I already checked with HTC support and below it's their reply:
"I can understand the frustration with not having the Chinese be compatible with Chinese. Unfortunately, this version with Telus is an English/French only device. If you want Chinese on the device you will need to search for a 3rd Party Application on the Market. We do not get trained in the Applications so we do not support them and you will need to do some research for them. You can Google the Chinese Language Pack as well, but again we cannot support this 3rd Party Programming and I advise to research before downloading to your device."
I'm playing Simcity Deluxe on my HTC Desire HD. The app isn't officially compatible with the phone so I'm getting a bug where it recognizes my phone as a tablet and displays the tablet UI instead of the phone UI, which makes the buttons much smaller and more difficult to tap.
Is there a way to force the app to recognize my phone as a phone?
As I had a Nokia N85 laying around, containing a 8GB micro SDHC class 6 memory card, I was planning on using this on my desire, since that only came with a 4gb card. However, I formatted the 8GB card in windows, (to fat 32). (I've might have formatted the partitions and everything as well). But either the Desire or PC cant find my SD card at this point. When I put the 8gb card into my N85 and then connect the N85 to my PC, the computer finds it. My N85 has no problem locating the SD card either. What to I have to do to the SD card to be able to use it with my Desire?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, this is what I did - fiddled around with the phone a bit before finally deciding to install HTC Sync.Downloaded the latest version (3.x) from HTC's website. The software and drivers installed without a problem. The device, however, was not recognized by Sync. Try as I might.Tinkered with the settings in the handset, too - eg. prompt to choose function (I don't even get a prompt when I connect the USB!), checked debugger mode, et al.The phone continues to charge; and that's the only thing that happens.I am running Windows XP (32 bit), SP3. (While downloading the software from HTC's website, I had chosen the option 'Asia no use.I went a step further - by trying to install the older version (2.0.28). Found it on the internet.

Anyone else have this problem? I like the extra time but not being able to charge in anything except the wall isn't that great. Guess i'll just use them as backup batteries.
View 6 Replies View Relatedso i had been having problems with the whole random rebooting issue that some people on the droid x have been having, so i called tech support and i had tried everything that they had suggested except the factory data reset. i was hesitant to do that because it just seems like doing something like that would never let me get my phone to working the way that it used to work. you know the way i had everything set up. well after the phone kept rebooting on its own i decided i would give it a shot. sure enough the phone just doesnt seem to be running the same as it did before. the phone seems to lag more, i am having to touch icons several times at times to make them work. task killer isnt running the way that it should. it just seems like the factory data reset made everything on the phone work just a little bit worse. has anyone else had this experience?

It had all the chinese apps, but I removed them, and flashed gapps, and everything is working great, except the gps.It just cant get a lock on anything. After waiting a few minutes, it just found 2 sattelites, but didnt lock on them. It's rooted, and I already tried changing "gps.conf" file, but it didn't work. I attached the screen I get, when I am using GPS Status.
I dont know what the second icon from the left side in the status bar means.as there are probably no custom roms for this device?

Yesterday, i decided to factory reset my phone to wipe all data and i done that this way: Settings - Backup and Reset - Factory Reset. After this, my phone reboot and now the operative system does not launch. The screen lights on but doesn't do nothing, neather the logo appears. I've tried to pull out the battery, full charged it and some other things and remains the same.
I've tried to go to Recovery mode but i don't know how to access it in this chinese phone. I've tried Vol Down + Power Button, Vol Up + Power Button, Home + Power Button...doesn't do nothing, only black light screen.
I found https://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thre but I cannot respond to that thread anymore (perhaps they expire?). I've tried with both the 1.5 SDK and the 1.6 SDK. I have tried all the suggestions in the aforementioned thread. I can mount the device just fine, but adb does not work whether it is mounted or not. I've tried it both as root and as myself and with it in $PATH as well as using. In the dir. Adb appears to "work" as it tells me "List of devices attached". At some point right after I installed 1.5, I remember setting something up to make the USB connection easier, but I don't remember what that was. My hypothesis at this point is that is somehow interfering, but any help you can give either way would be much appreciated.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis morning I started seeing errors about the SD card not being available. I checked under setting and sure enough it wasn't available. It worked perfectly yesterday. The first thing I thought of was that the card went bad since I bought a 16GB one off eBay. So I shut down and replaced the SD card with the 8GB one it came with. No change. The phone just doesn't recognize an SD card anymore.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFirst post. so here goes.
I've searched around the forum and couldn't find anything.
So heres the issue. I've been dying to get myself an android phone for a while now, but no carriers in my country (Ireland) have any affordable ones. So I've been shopping around online. I've found a faulty one on ebay. Its fine except it keeps saying "No Sim Card"
So I was wondering, has anyone had this issue before? And is it something I could repair, or should I keep looking?
I have recently purchased a smartphone from ebay some copycat brand model named q9000 and I am trying to mount a SD card (ADATA 16GB UHS-1), but when I put the card into the phone the card its just not recognized by the phone and Its just keep saying insert card for mounting.
