Ive just discovered that using a wii remote with emulators wont work if you have htc sense, which i was gutted about, but if i flash to a new rom without sense what will i be missing, basically what parts are sense and what aren't?

I have used Lambrospowers (XDA Forum) Rosie patch to enable drag n drop when in helicopter (leap) view. It works flawlessly on my rooted stock Froyo Desire. If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI managed to turn off my defaults in htc sense, and i cant seem to set up the defaults again settings/manage applications/htc sense. i was reading a post about turning off sense, and having the option of having the nexus one default screens, but it didn't quite work out the way i wanted, so i want to have the sense defaults set back on. the button is currently greyed out, and stuff like my phone screen, wont auto rotate, when viewing web pages.

The main culprit seems to be the HTC News widget as it most often seems to occur whilst I am reading my news each morning.Anyone else experienced this or know the solution?

But I like HTC Sense- I also like the Stock Androids 3D (Star Wars style) app menu and the cool fading animations between applications/programs and the home screen/s.
So...... What would be perfect is an app that let the normal HTC sense (7 panel +Leap view) home screen run, but with the stock android animations and app menu...
Does such a thing exist?
I guess that a few relatively simple adaptations to the 'Stock Android Launcher' could provide what I'm looking for.
My desire is in a death loop whereby the phone is unusable. It's not rooted btw.When I start the phone I get a screen pop. The application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.There is an option to force close, which when selected just brings the phone back around to the above screen pop.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI installed 2.2 the ligit way, searched for updates and asked if I wanted to download 2.2 so I did. Now HTC Sense will not even start when I switch on the phone. The phone starts and then says "loading..." and while it's loading it shows that lovely application error, normally you just click "force close" but application that's breaking is actually HTC Sense and the "force close" button is grayed out, then the phone restarts with the white screen and green HTC logo and then gets to the "loading..." part and then HTC Sense breaks again and the phone is stuck in an infinite loop.

View 49 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I finally decided to root my phone and flash an android 2.2 'with Sense' ROM. I followed this guide: How To: Install Froyo On An HTC Desire | I Can Has Pi?
I used the 2.2 Sense ROM recommended by the guide. Everything was going really well, but once the proses was over I saw some things that instantly made me wish I had never bothered rooting:
-I have a VERY low internal memory; no room for half my backed-up apps, no room for SMS, no room to take a low resolution photo(let alone 720p video!), and not even room to browse my photos or music(I know-weird...)!
-Some apps (like the HTC MOD keyboard with voice input) simply don't work.
-Slow boot and load HTC Sense.
-Programs force-close very often, as dose HTC Sense.
There are some good things in this ROM (like a slight increase in performance) but really, the bad outweighs the good- especially with the low storage, considering that the main reason I rooted was to get more space for apps!
I don't know what to do now. Is there a solution within the ROM I'm using at the moment? Or did I just use a crappy ROM. Which can you recommend (Froyo w/Sense)? Unrooting seems quite easy, or is that dumb now that I've gone through the trouble of rooting? I can't be without receiving SMS for much longer!
I got sick of waiting for HTC to get 2.2 out for the Desire and I have no intention of waiting for the weeks of rumours and "delays" on those rumours.
I've rooted my Desire and installed Modaco's Android 2.2+Sense UI ROM and frankly I'm glad I did. It's stable, has all the features of 2.2 and is a LOT more responsive than the 2.1 stock ROM.
This was super easy thanks to Unrevoked. The principles should in fact work on any new HTC device. I can highly recommend it and you can check out the details of how I did it here:

I am wondering what actually happens with all the apps and widgets that come with Sense UI. I assume none of them will work anymore once the Desire is rooted? Or will they stay and still be useable? Can you download them somewhere again from HTC for example and install on a rooted device?
I heard of custom Roms that will let you root the device and still use some HTC apps. Is that correct or is there no such thing?
Finally, a question that might be a bit of speculation currently. With HTC introducing the new www.htcsense.com website with features such as SMS backup for life, contact editing, app shop, etc.... some of the stuff like the SMS backup sound very interesting but now I am wondering if these features will be available for rooted devices. Anybody has any ideas about that?
Would be kind of unfair if rooted devices could not use this HTC service.
Is there a way to have a LauncherPro style dock but still using Sense?I like the way LauncherPro has Web/Phone/Text etc icons along the bottom which frees up screen space. Sense only gives 3 of which the '+' button is pointless as it is just the same as a long press. Would rather avoid changing altogether to LP if at all possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried sync-ing my contact book for my facebook contact updates but it showed no updates even after a few days, but my contacts do have updates on actual Facebook.So I thought I'd try to delete off my account from Accounts&Sync and re-add my account again after a few minutes.After re-adding the account, my friend stream works fine, sync-ed as per normal but when I click on my contacts book/people and tried to link my contacts to their facebook, it showed a blank list and words in the middle showing "No matches found", in other words, I don't have friends?I waited for a hours and tried to re-add and sync again but still can't link my contacts to their facebook because it doesn't show up any facebook link for me to link to my contacts no matter how I try.I resetted my phone back to factory defaults and tried again but it's still the same.

Anyway, I uninstalled it and now HTC sense is force closing all the time and I am unable to get to the app settings to see what the problem is. get me to a place where I can sort this out. Will I have to do some form of hard reboot?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Facebook for HTC Sense setup in my "Accounts & Sync" section. When I hit the SYNC NOW button there, it seems to sync ok.
However, when I open the PEOPLE program, and select the ONLINE DIRECTORIES and then select FACEBOOK (I assume this is the HTC Sense facebook integration), it says connection error.
Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?
I think I've read on the thread about the Froyo 2.2 release, that a rom has been leaked that will work with Sense on the Desire? Has anyone got any links/guides to getting this to work?
Secondly, I've currently got my phone debranded but this has led to my wifi being disabled since the last firmware update, I know I'll have to root my phone to install the 2.2 rom but will this then mean I will have to input the network code as that's what I was told would need to happen if I was to reflash my phone with the unbranded rom again.
I have logged on to HTC Sense on line & now cant do it thru the phone, does the phone & pc need to be connected for this? Also when I go to HTC Sense on the phone it just says it syncing. But so far the two have not synced. What am I doing wrong?
View 2 Replies View RelatedALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?

View 49 Replies View RelatedI use a car stand to hold my phone and would like to have the Sense displays rotated.When the keyboard is open, the Sense screens rotate horizontally.I've looked at the settings and whiles apps rotate when Horizontal with the keyboard is closed, Sense won't rotate unless the keyboard is open.Is there any way to get the Sense displays to rotate with the keyboard closed?

It worked and the phone now syncs fine. But, I now have duplicates of all facebook events in all my calendars. Can I safely delete the data in settings/applications/manage applications/Facebook for HTC Sense? do you think if I did that that it would sort the problem? Would this cause issues with my contacts, as some are linked to Facebook friends, or would this sort its self out when it re-synced?
