Just got my new desire. Love it. Trying to watch some video on it. The videos came from get_iplayer (if that matters) and are 640x360 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. I've tried several players, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, PlaysVideo, Media Player, built in player and I get audio but no video. Is it the video codec or are the dimensions too great and need to be scaled down a bit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen playing music or watching video using the headphones that came with it, there is a lot of crackling and hissing. If you go back to the home screen, there is a high pitched whistling sound (almost as if you've placed a microphone next to a speaker and are getting feedback as a result.) I can't seem to get any FM radio stations either. I've tried three different sets of headphones as well as the set bundled with the Desire and all have the same problem. Is this a known issue or should I phone O2 and get it replaced.

The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)

I suppose that if I manually take it off the SD card, it will be the same extension. How do I deal with these files? VLC, QuickTime did not play it. Windows Movie Maker did not open it either. On a Mac it worked fine and flawlessly.

I already know that it will play MPEG-4 videos without a problem (you can use the RealPlayer Video Downloader to download HQ/HD videos from places like Youtube and it automatically saves them to MPEG-4 format).
However, I want to transfer some files like music videos onto my HTC Hero and having tried several times, using the RealPlayer Converter, to convert the .mpg files to .wmv, I can't watch them on the Hero.
However, I recently looked at one of the threads (I think on a different forum) and he said that he could watch videos in WMV format using 750kbps on resolution 480x320. But RealPlayer only allows for 768kbps and resolution as 480p HD as the nearest possible (which was the setting I ordinarily chose).
The other strange thing is that when I go onto the Albums part of the phone to see if I can view any videos, it shows a thumbnail image of the music video (a preview image of the video) and when I play it, I can hear the music, but the video itself fails to appear.
I've downloaded a few videos on my computer and they are mp4 format. I pulled them from my computer onto my phone however when I go to open them up from astro as a video there is only audio. They play fine on my computer as mp4s.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem for a while, and my boyfriend has too. I have the moto droid and he has droid eris. When certain people send me picture messages and I touch them to open and view it plays as a video, the picture will play for a second and then go to black screen and then back to the messaging screen. It wasn't sent as a video message by the person so why is it "playing " instead of just letting me open it in the gallery and view it like most? I've searched google and other forums for an answer but still nothing.. its not a huge deal but I would like to fix it if possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been pretty disappointed to know that the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 have no 16:9 aspect ratios, which means that widescreen videos will have black bars displaying on the top.
Currently, on my iPhone 4S and 3rd generation iPad, I can double tap and "crop" the video, and this makes the video fill up the entire screen and videos looks really nice. However, on a Galaxy Note and a Galaxy S III, I've tried doing the same thing but they refuse to crop.
Is there something that I am missing or is there no double tap to zoom at all?
Is there any way to disable the touchscreen while a video is playing so there is no possibility to stop the video accidentally touching the screen?
Example: I put a video for a small child and I wont the child could modify the video by tapping the screen
I have code that will bring up a Youtube video on their webpage and the user has to then tap the play option to play it:

This works fine but what I would really like is to have the video come up in the player on the phone immediately without the user ending up on the webpage and having to tap the play option.
