So in the google voice app I've found you can copy the body of a text message easily by holding down on the message and select copy. But in the HTC messaging app I've not found a way. Am I missing something?

I dont know if its something I did or not but...when I try to forward emails from my Droid Gmail account I get a message that says "Send this message without text in the body". If I continue then it forwards but nothing comes with it.

I assumed that there would be an easy way to copy the number from my contacts and paste it into a text message. However I couldn't work it out and had to go down the traditional route of writing it on a piece of paper then sending the text! Hardly a good advert for the new 'uberphone' that the desire is billed as! So, is there a way to do it?

For example- I work in music, and people frequently call or text asking for the phone numbers of cellists and violinists I know so they can hire them for recording sessions. "Sure," I reply, "I'll text the numbers to you." Then, I have to look up the numbers in my People app, write them down on a piece of paper (or on a notepad on my computer), and then write the names and numbers into a text message. That works for home, but when I'm on the road it really screws the process. Can I start the text message and then import the names and numbers as text? I really want to be able to add more than contact to the text message (I'm not talking about recipients here, I mean sending a text that is a list of names and phone numbers).

We prefer to keep our mobile numbers private, so we need to block our caller id on a per call basis. It wouldn't work for us to block caller id on all calls. On my BB, I would copy and paste the number and then add *67 as a prefix.
On the Hero I can't find a way to edit the phone number from the text message. I can delete it, but can't add to it. Most of these numbers I would not want to add to my address book. I had my office text the number with *67 as a prefix, but the Hero doesn't recognize the *. It just copies the digits. What workaround options do I have?

If I use the full screen widget on one of my screens, it will display message body for some emails, and not for others.
I've had my Desire for a couple of months now, love it, and very little I can complain about (except the occassional SD card problem!) However, I went to text today, and in the "To" field, I started typing, attempting the special "just press the number, and we'll guess the corresponding letter" approach, which I've used throughout my time with the phone. However, it didn't work: instead, it's just offering me T9 or normal ABC - it's not doing the clever guessing thing. For example, if I wanted to text my mum, stored as "mum" in my phone book, I'd usually type "686", however, now, that's simply coming up with "mtm". I don't think I switched any option, but if I inadvertently did, I can't find where to undo it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

This should be worked in away that once a page get loaded into the browser, this JavaScript executes & the replacements take place & finally the page with replaced text is visible in the browser.

Anyone else had the issue where if you send an MMS it's sent twice? I've only tested by sending to myself so far but each time I get two examples of the same photo, but within the same MMS if you see what I mean i.e. I don't get two separate messages. Very odd and bloody annoying if I'm getting charged 40p each time instead of 20p! (O2)

Anywho, one pressing issue I haven't been able to find a solution to is regarding email.
1. How do I copy text from an email? I know if I first reply to an email then I can copy text, but is there a way to do so without having to first hitting the reply button?
2. How do I move emails from one folder to the next?
I'm currently just using the stock email client that came on my Captivate, are there others that are more powerful (not sure you can really call it 'powerful' to be able to copy text and move emails around).
I may be missing something obvious, but is there a way to select and copy text from within an email? For example I just got a message sent to my gmail account with a friends new home address, but while I can read the email obviously, scrolling through the message I cant actually select any text within it to copy out his address and then paste it into my contacts.

I loaded a new custom ICS rom on my Samsung Galaxy sIII i747 and noticed that every time I tried to copy text in the Chrome Browser address bar, Chrome would force close. I am posting in general since this fix may work for any ICS running on any device.

Summary:
Fix requires root.
1. boot recovery (CWM) > wipe cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer/ES File Browser > delete /data/clipboard/* (everything in this directory)
3. reboot recovery again > advanced > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > Copy/Paste should now word (worked for me)
Just got my new Captivate (replacing iPhone) and am trying to figure out how to copy / paste text from an email I have received. I have searched the forum and tried everything I can think of.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFiddling around with the new version of the gmail client at lunch time I found something that I've been desperate for in the past! When you're viewing an email, press the Menu hardkey, select More and choose "Select text". Then simply drag your finger over the block of text you want to copy. It's rudimentary but it works. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the quoted text area when you are replying to an email, but hey, it's a definite improvement on going to the webmail client.
