I have a new desire. The new Telstra 3G sim mangles the contacts on getting them out of the old Nokia. I can sync the nokia to windows 7 contacts. It would appear that htc sync only looks for the old outlook express windows address book. Is there a fix for this as I can't get the contacts from 1 phone to the other.

I'm just about to take the plunge and move over to a Droid device and wanted to know if there is a process that I can move my contacts from my Windows Phone7.5 device over to a new Android phone. I'm looking at moving from an HTC Arrive up to a Note2. I know my contacts and such are on my Windows Skydrive and I also know that there is a Skydrive app for Android but I don't know if there's a way to allow it to sync over like it does on my WP.

I have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?
I'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy last phone melted and I have to hold my hands up to say I never backed it up or synced it to an external source so when it screwed up I lost a lot of my contacts, not something I want to happen again.
Firstly do I want to save them to my sim or my phone, I would normally guess Sim card but cant they be saved to the SD card ? This would seem to be the best option ? When entering a new contact there is the option to save them to the gmail account that I set up so I could use the android market ? I don?t use gmail as I already have my own domain email accounts that I have had for years and I host through hotmail. As I have the account I am happy to use it as a dumping ground if there is the option of syncing all of my contacts to it ?
Then when I connect to HTC sense it wants to sync my contacts ..... Where is it trying to syc them to? Outlook ? I don?t use outlook but again if it will keep my contacts safe then I can use it for safety. Looking at my contacts there is the option to export to SD card, is this exporting from the sim ? Or from the phone?
My Desire needs to go back for repair and i need to copy my contacts on to my Sim card so i can use the Sim in another phone. i have tried a few apps but they all keep telling me the Sim card is either full or locked (its got no contacts on it. Does anyone know of a free way to do this, i have found a program but it was about �20, don't really want to spend that if i can help it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy "phone contacts" have simply been wiped out all of a sudden. My Google, SIM and Facebook contacts are there but all 97 of my phone contacts are simply gone! It now shows phone (0). I thought I could sync back from Google but it appears all along they weren't even being synced even though my Google contacts sync was turned on, so I'm still left with nothing.This is one of the most frustrating and ridiculous problems I've ever encountered on any phone. I rely almost entirely on my phone contacts, and I sure as hell do not want to start copying from my SIM all over again because I'd have to filter out so many unused contacts.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot manage to add and save new contacts on my phone. When I add a new contact and fill in all the info, I hit "save", a message says "contact saved". Right after this the new contact shows in the list of all contacts, but if I go out of the list, go to home or do something else with the phone then go back to the contacts' list, the new contact has gone. I tried several times, and the new contact always disappears even though it was previously saved.

But even I unselect the "SIM" in the People application's view option, the Phone dialer's list (left) still has both SIM contacts and google contacts, they are double. However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs.Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. View 6 Replies View RelatedI wounder if anyone else has had this problem. I had a blown pixel on my Desire so i got a new one form T-Mobile. I had backed up my contacts on the SD card and when I reinstalled them to the phone all the numbers have gone into a US style format, for example the number 01345 456732 has become 013-454-56732. These are number copied to the phone and not form the sim.Has this happended to anyone else? I sthere a way of sorting this out without redoing each one?
