HTC Desire :: Get Phone Numbers Off My Nokia 5800 Onto Phone?
May 22, 2010
How can I get my phone numbers off my Nokia 5800 onto my HTC Desire?
I have exported them to my PC in CSV and Text format.
I've tried to put my old Sim in but it doesn't come up with anything in the contacts list.

I'm interested in modding software and I would like to port Android to my Nokia 5800. So if there's anyone interested please give me some idea where to start, because there are many people that would like to make this idea possible. I was thinking about following:
I need to fetch Android ROM. I have chosen and downloaded v2.1 via SDK. - All of these files should be renamed to rofs3 and uda files according to Nokia firmware file names. - Correct bootloader is needed to make it running (for example OpeniBoot) - Drivers have to be extracted and edited for Android. The most important thing of all is display because its resolution is completely different than any seen Android phone. - Hardware shouldn't be a problem, it passed minimum requirements. So, is it possible to realize?

I currently on Centennial wireless, which got bought out by at&t, I was stoked about getting a NEW 4g iPhone HD or whatever its going to be called, but now I see Verizon has this incredible looking incredible. I am going this week to verizon to do some hands on, and if its what I am seeing on youtube and reviews, I will likely order one while there and drop cent/at&a and join Verizon.SO, my question is, I currently have a nokia 5800. Does anyone know the easiest way to transfer my contacts and calendar over? I use the calendar A TON. LOTS AND LOTS. So there is no way I can manually transfer them. I have 400+ contacts, with some of those contacts having 6 numbers! I don't mind manually transferring from my pc the pics, music, etc.

I have this weird problem. When I add peoples phone numbers and sync with Face book sometimes I lose the phone number or they disappear all together I save my contacts via goggle, I'm not sure if any other way would make a difference. Also, I woke up this morning and my number has disappeared, maybe my phone is trying to tell me something.

When I synced my phone's contacts with my face book contacts, I saw that some of the numbers had the +44 prefix. This didn't seem like a problem until I tried to dial a contact's number that was taken from Face book. When it dials it just plays a long beeping tone and won't connect to the contact. I can text the contact fine but not ring. Also, I can not change the number in my phone as it is from Face book. Does anyone have a way to solve this issue?

I've or rather my phone has lost the tones when dialling phone numbers
I've got it checked under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Audible touch tones (on or off) but they won't beep no matter how many times I swaer at them.
The only app I've installed at about the time they went walkabout was Batterylife, although I doubt it was connected and it's been binned but to no avail.

Some contacts have different phone numbers. And when I send group SMS, the message is sent to the first number of the contact. So is there a software that can reorganize the position of the phone numbers? So that the mobile numbers are the first in the list.

I added a contact on my PC (http://www.google.com/contacts) which then got sync'd to my phone. I pasted the phone number in from a website, which began something like this: "+44 (0)207..." When I dialed the number on the phone, a recorded message told me that voicemail settings had been changed, and to hang up and dial again in five minutes. Immediately, an SMS message arrived from ">pers", saying "Network message - please delete", followed by a load of random gibberish. Looking in the Call History, it appears that the phone ignores the brackets, and dials, "+44 0207..." which is incorrect. It ought to know that numbers in brackets after the country code are only used when dialling locally without the country code. Calling that incorrect number (I don't know if it's the specific number I called, or just that prefix) somehow connected to some aspect of the (T-mobile UK) voicemail system. I wonder what setting I've changed?Googling suggests that the SMS from ">pers" is some sort of phone-configuration message that is normally supposed to be intercepted by the phone. Anyway, bottom line is this - if you add contacts to your Google account on your PC (which is sometimes very convenient, and a great feature of the Google system), be careful to remove any unnecessary area prefixes.

Hope somebody can help with a couple of issues that are driving me mad with my HTC Desire
1. If I get a phone number sent via a text or email and it has a space in it, I cant select it to dial.
2. I get emails from people that use Infopath but not all the fields show up. I have searched the web for apps etc. but cannot find much help. Is this an Android issue? Any help would preserve my sanity.

I got my HTC Desire today, and despite spending many hours carefully updating my Google contacts, I've found that received calls and SMS messages are not displayed with the contact they're from. I believe this is because the details in my contacts list are in the format "01234 567789", whereas the incoming calls/messages are in the format "+441234 567789", and it's not realizing that the "+44" and "0" are interchangable. How can I resolve this, without going through all my contacts changing the prefix on the phone number?

Hi,
After saving my contacts to the SD card, resetting the phone, then importing them all back, the numbers are now in the form of 012-345-67891. Does anyone know how to remove the hyphens?
Thanks

I'm totally new to Android and not overly technical. I've a problem I'm hoping someone can help with (if you can help please provide an idiots guide as I've trawled the net it's all way over my head with root this and that). In relation to my work I have the need to send and receive video files via bluetooth to my workmates handsets. Never had an issue in the past with Nokia "talking" to Blackberry etc (except I-phone which is a toy as far as I'm concerned) but my X10 will not receive. I keep receiving the same message on the handset "Sorry, the application settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again".

I have my HTC Desire and the Facebook application is the worst thing it should happen. It sync all my friends phone numbers and mixes with all my other phone numbers. Can some one in clear state of mind ask Android/Facebook to give us the option to select what friends we want in our phone list? I like the Facebook app but deleted it once it messes my phone!
