I've or rather my phone has lost the tones when dialling phone numbers
I've got it checked under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Audible touch tones (on or off) but they won't beep no matter how many times I swaer at them.
The only app I've installed at about the time they went walkabout was Batterylife, although I doubt it was connected and it's been binned but to no avail.

I totally love the droid. but there is one thing that has been bothering me. It synced all my goggle contacts to my phone, and but then deleted them all from g mail. luckily I had all my contacts backed up on my computer and entered them in. Once I did that all my contacts from my phone got deleted. Every contact (other than face book and g mail contacts) that I had in my phone is now gone. What do I do?!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!
View 15 Replies View RelatedHave the phone. Went through all the fun of finding my own prefered ring tone - well I made it from a song, and another ring tone for other uses.
Set them up, set the "Message" tone, set the alarm tone and all was good.
It wasn't long after that I bought a SANDISC8 gig SD card.
Coppied ALL files over and swapped the cards.
I am not sure exactly WHEN the problem started, but it still exists.
Now and then the phone is in my pocket and it starts making a sound. It isn't one I selected, so ignore it until it becomes obvious it is mine as no-one else is talking on their phone.
I look and it is a message/phone call/alarm.
They are NOT the ones I set. So I go through the process of seting them back to what I like.
Someone says it could be a dicky SD card. I shall test that soon by putting back the original one and seeing what happens. The only problem with that is that it is SO INTERMITANT that it is hard to know if it is or not really the problem.
i have a Milestone and i was wondering how can i use voice dialling on the phone? I was using it quite frequently on E71 but now i dont know how.Also for the voice to text, i would have to have an internet connection to use it?
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
I have this weird problem. When I add peoples phone numbers and sync with Face book sometimes I lose the phone number or they disappear all together I save my contacts via goggle, I'm not sure if any other way would make a difference. Also, I woke up this morning and my number has disappeared, maybe my phone is trying to tell me something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I synced my phone's contacts with my face book contacts, I saw that some of the numbers had the +44 prefix. This didn't seem like a problem until I tried to dial a contact's number that was taken from Face book. When it dials it just plays a long beeping tone and won't connect to the contact. I can text the contact fine but not ring. Also, I can not change the number in my phone as it is from Face book. Does anyone have a way to solve this issue?

Let me explain : When I go on PEOPLE I see my contacts there , if I click on them I cant see any phone number or mail nothing it just show me the contact name then under the name I see DETAILS then INFORMATION and down I can read ringtone and send to voicemail and then last Edit. Why is that? I dont think is normal and honestly makes me really depressed coz I cant call normally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI added a contact on my PC (http://www.google.com/contacts) which then got sync'd to my phone. I pasted the phone number in from a website, which began something like this: "+44 (0)207..." When I dialed the number on the phone, a recorded message told me that voicemail settings had been changed, and to hang up and dial again in five minutes. Immediately, an SMS message arrived from ">pers", saying "Network message - please delete", followed by a load of random gibberish. Looking in the Call History, it appears that the phone ignores the brackets, and dials, "+44 0207..." which is incorrect. It ought to know that numbers in brackets after the country code are only used when dialling locally without the country code. Calling that incorrect number (I don't know if it's the specific number I called, or just that prefix) somehow connected to some aspect of the (T-mobile UK) voicemail system. I wonder what setting I've changed?Googling suggests that the SMS from ">pers" is some sort of phone-configuration message that is normally supposed to be intercepted by the phone. Anyway, bottom line is this - if you add contacts to your Google account on your PC (which is sometimes very convenient, and a great feature of the Google system), be careful to remove any unnecessary area prefixes.

1. If I get a phone number sent via a text or email and it has a space in it, I cant select it to dial.
2. I get emails from people that use Infopath but not all the fields show up. I have searched the web for apps etc. but cannot find much help. Is this an Android issue? Any help would preserve my sanity.
I got my HTC Desire today, and despite spending many hours carefully updating my Google contacts, I've found that received calls and SMS messages are not displayed with the contact they're from. I believe this is because the details in my contacts list are in the format "01234 567789", whereas the incoming calls/messages are in the format "+441234 567789", and it's not realizing that the "+44" and "0" are interchangable. How can I resolve this, without going through all my contacts changing the prefix on the phone number?

After saving my contacts to the SD card, resetting the phone, then importing them all back, the numbers are now in the form of 012-345-67891. Does anyone know how to remove the hyphens?

Anyway, I want to know if there's a way to get back the apps that I had installed on it - will the marketplace recognise it's me and offer me all the ones I had installed, or do I just have to remember which ones I installed (paid and free) and go and find them again? If so, is there a list recorded anywhere in my google account? In hindsight, a kinda nice thing about the apple app store is that you get a receipt for everything you install, so that's kind of useful.

In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
Ive not long had my htc desire, I havent even rooted it yet. Its on 2.2 but anyway onto my question. Is there anyway I can use my own mp3 tones as message alert and email notification tones. Ive tried playing around with my phone but cannot find a way of doing this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm probable being very stupid but despite trawling the forum and looking though the PDF manual I can't see how to enter tones during a call. EG for menu options.
Hitting "Menu" during a call severs the call (is it supposed to do this?).
There is a grid icon on the bottm of the screen which I thought was the one I wanted.
I am able to upgrade now and im thinking about jumping ship to Android. I currently have a Blackberry Storm2, i absolutely love the S2 but unfortunately the OS is so far behind everything else on the market and its sooo buggy! A while back i did have a HTC magic but i hated it as there was so much missing from it as in features/specs. I Have a few questions about the Desire if someone wouldn't mind trying to answer (most are biased from using the magic) 1) Do you get push email (I use gmail) 2) are you able to bluetooth pictures etc between phones? 3) are there any niggles about the phone or anything missing from it as in features? 4) Are you able to change ringtone/SMS/MMS/Email/Cnectd/Messenger tones to any MP3 you want? Is there any previous Storm2 or other blackberry users which have jumped to the Desire? If so do you miss anything/how are you finding it.

Also, I don't seem to be able to install new programmes via app marketplace websites any more. I guess this is linked to the missing market app. How can I get it back?
I have transferred videos on to the phone, but the names are not there, just numbered? Is there a convention to follow to make sure I watch the correct video?

On this phone on the SIM card I could store several numbers for each contact/person.I swapped the SIM card into the Desire, and all the first number for each contact is there, but I can find no way to access the other numbers e.g. landline that I had against each contact/person.Does anyone know where I am going wrong?
