HTC Desire :: Set Mobile Numbers As First Phone Number For Contact?

Sep 27, 2010

Some contacts have different phone numbers. And when I send group SMS, the message is sent to the first number of the contact. So is there a software that can reorganize the position of the phone numbers? So that the mobile numbers are the first in the list.

HTC Droid Eris :: OTA 2.1 Contact Number Defaulting To Facebook Home Numbers When Linked

May 26, 2010

I am not sure if this came up in one of the topics, but I may have missed it.

For the past week, I noticed some of my contact priority number was defaulting to the number I least call. This morning, while trying to figure how to make priority changes, I noticed it was due to linking it to facebook.

I linked my wife's info with her facebook and the priority number (mobile) pushed it to her home number information she has on her facebook account. So instead of me just going to click on my wife's name or say a command to call wife, I have to scroll to find the number I want to call.

I there a fix for this to let us set the priorities?

HTC Desire :: Add Phone Number To Facebook Contact?

Jun 12, 2010

I just got my Desire a few days ago, and so far i am very pleased with it (coming from a Nokia N95 8GB). I do find the contact handling somewhat counter intuitive however. For example , i have some contacts from facebook for which i have no other contacts created, but i need to add additional information (in particular phone numbers). I do not seem to be able to add information to a facebook contact. Do i really need to manually create another contact, then manually give it the same name and then link it to the facebook profile in order to have a place to add the phone number?

HTC Desire :: Can't Save A Phone / Google Contact Number / Way To Fix?

Jul 14, 2010

I just purchased my new HTC desire and i have a problem : 1) Adding a new contact number to either phone or Google account. Name/surname are saved but the phone number doesn't get saved; so when editing the contact, no phone number appears. Then, when gonig under Phone and typing the letters of the name just added, i can find it in the drop list of "guessed names" with the number right under the name. I want to be able to view my contact and see the phone number from the application People; and that's impossible now because of this problem.

General :: SMS App Showing Mobile / Work Contact Number Information

Mar 24, 2014

When using my sms app, I am looking for a way to display which phone number of my contact is used (mobile, work, home, ...)

The only thing showed is the contact name and his phone number.

With all the sms apps I've tried (stock, hangouts, hello sms, 8sms, evolvesms, chomp, handcent), I didn't find a way to display this information. I always have to do an extra action (clik on contact photo, or title bar) to check if the phone number concerned is 'work' or 'mobile'.

Any tip or a new app to show this info ?

HTC Desire :: Contacts Multiple Mobile Numbers

May 28, 2010

I don't understand. In symbian it was possible to add more than one "mobile" number, and even with a custom label. In android i can't do that. I have friends that use 2 or 3 mobiles, for work, personal use etc, that besides the work number from the location.

Is there a workaround or a program i can use? I don't want my contacts staying on the gmail servers.
I guess the question is, how can i modify the labels? there's got to be a way...

If i use the "linked" option, when i view the contact details it just shows me 3 different numbers, it doesn't show me the linked contact's name so i can't now wich number i want to call: work, personal etc.

Custom labels would have been genius. I could add to Andy for example:
1. mobile xxx
2. mobile work xxx
3. boss xxx

And when he would call me from one of this numbers, it would have been nice to look like this:
Andy mobile xxx or Andy mobile work xxx.

HTC Desire :: Adding Two Different Numbers From Same Contact In Group?

Jul 15, 2010

Today I set up a group on my desire so that I can send a group text or email to the parents of the kids football team that I help to run. It seem that it uses the primary number that's selected in the persons contact info. Some parents have given me both their mobile numbers and sometimes two email addresses so I want to include them all in the same group. Does anyone know how I can do this? On my previous blackberry curve 8900 I could select multiple numbers/email addresses from the same contact to go into the group.

HTC Desire :: Copying Contacts From SIM - Multiple Numbers Per Contact

Jul 13, 2010

I've just got my Desire (loving it already!) and have copied over my contacts from my SIM to Google. On both my SIM view, and when copied over, however, only 1 number is showing per contact when for some of my contacts I have 2 numbers (e.g. home and mobile). These showed up as SIM contacts on my old phone (Nokia) and have definitely not been left behind so they must be on the SIM somewhere. Anyone know how to access these on the Desire and copy them over?

HTC Desire :: Outlook Contact W/multiple Numbers Sync

Sep 3, 2010

I am currently a newbie in the andriod market, jumped over from N900 to this phone hoping it would be easy but doesn't look like.

I tried to sync my Outlook contacts to the new HTC Desire, using HTC sync, (running Android 2.2) and it copied over the contact but only with their primary numbers and not all the numbers, emails or addresses.

I haven't tried anything else yet but surely I won't be the only one with this teething issue, can some of you guys give me an updates on this?

HTC Desire :: Each Contact Has Every Number Twice

Jul 23, 2010

First off, I have to say this phone is amazing and by far the best handset I've ever had.ight, my problem. I use Outlook contacts at work and had a Windows mobile before this one. The contacts appeared to sync into Desire no problem with HTC Sync and I was using phone with no issues. I then decided to see if I could have mail sent to phone like a Blackberry. I went to 'accounts & sync' and set up my work domain etc. The email side of it works fine. since then I noticed that my contacts in 'People' are normal. When I go to send a text, everything from a contact is listed twice. I use Handcent, but it happens in HTC message app as well. Each contact has 'linked' in top right corner and if i tap it the two contacts for the same person are 'Phone' and 'Exchange'. Any ideas how I can remove one of these?
Is HTC Sync, syncing with Outlook and the Desire sync settings are syncing with the Exchange? Any help on how best to set this up is appreciated. I do want to have Outlook contacts as they are full of notes about customers.

I've put the SIM card in the new handset and it seems to have recognized some of the numbers but as far as I can see its only showing one number per contact whereas my W995 let me save a few different numbers for each contact (work, home, mobile etc) - is there any way to get the HTC to recognize this without keying them all in again?

Android :: Accessing Contact Phone Numbers - Corresponding ID

Oct 30, 2009

I'm trying to adapt my application (Personalytics) for the brand new Android 2.0, however I'm facing an issue while accessing contacts' phone numbers. What I need to do is to retrieve the name associated to a stored contact based on his/her phone number. At present I'm doing this in two steps:
1) from a phone number I get the corresponding ID of the stored contact (if present)
2) I retrieve the contact's name based on that ID

I managed to use the correct CONTENT_URI for reading contacts by using reflection to be fully compatible with Android 2.0 (ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI) and the previous versions (People.CONTENT_URI). Now I'm trying to do the same for Phones.CONTENT_URI (Android <= 1.6) and ContactsContract.PhoneLookup.CONTENT_FILTER_URI (Android = 2.0) which is needed by step 2) mentioned above. But as soon as I try to get a contentResolver by using ContactsContract.PhoneLookup.CONTENT_FILTER_URI I get the following exception:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown URL content://com.android.contacts/phone_lookup

This looks really strange to me, since it should be correct (it is part of the official API)! Moreover, I tried to look at the "API Demos" project, in particular to the classes:
com.example.android.apis.view.List2 com.example.android.apis.view.List3
which are still using the deprecated People.CONTENT_URI and Phones.CONTENT_URI and thus no data (i.e. contacts) is loaded (of course I have sample contacts in the emulator). Is there another approach I can use to get the name of a contact based on one of his/her numbers? (This must work on all versions of Android).

HTC Incredible :: Messages Contact List - Only Phone Numbers?

Apr 29, 2010

Just got my Incredible and it is rocking. Damn this thing is fast! I notice that when I try to compose an sms message, the contact search list contains ALL of my contacts (phone + Google). This is super annoying, as I literally have thousands of Google contacts and some people have numerous accounts, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through and is honestly the first thing I have seen the phone start to choke on. The 'People' widget has a 'View' setting that allows me to limit by just phone contacts, but I can't seem to find any sort of filter in the search when I'm composing a message. I can type each name individually and select, but having a big list would be nice. Again, I'd like to be able to select message recipients from a list containing only phone contacts.

Android : Having Duplicate Contact Phone Numbers In Handcent SMS

Oct 11, 2010

I think this is a Handcent issue because I'm not really seeing it in the default app. For some reason I get multiple numbers for a contact when sending a SMS- the same number! I have one contact that when I select to send an SMS to, I get 7 options to choose to send to, and guess what, all 7 are the same phone number. And its not a format issue, it still duplicates if the number has brackets over the area code or just dashes. Not sure what to do and when I go into the individual contact (using People) the number is only listed once.

HTC Desire :: Contact Number Changed When Synced To Facebook / Fix It?

Apr 23, 2010

Ive looked all through Desire threads and cant find anyone thats had this problem yet so lucky me i guess!

Whenever i sync a contact to Facebook, for some odd reason it changes the number for that contact. The number i have for the contact matches that of the number on their Facebook account.

I.E. 07890123456 on my phone, 07890123456 on their Facebook account( fake number, don't be silly ).

However, as soon as i sync the account to my contact on my Desire, the number changes to 447890123456.

try to call the contact and says numbers wrong, clearly because its suppose to be +44, not just 44.

have tried to edit number but still says 07890123456, and still wont work when i change it to +447890123456.

Anyone able to help?
