HTC Desire :: 2.10.405.2 Updated - Facebook Won't Login
Sep 17, 2010Did the latest update and ever since I cannot log Into Facebook whilst connected to mobile data. IF I try via WiFi it works fine. Even if I use the browser instead of the app it reports that I'm trying to connect with an ip address that's associated with 'abuse'.

Jan 16, 2010I hear that there was an update for facebook yesterday? so what is the latest version? is it still 1.1.2? the reason i ask is because im wondering if there is a way i can get facebook notifications to appear on my droids notification bar? I want to know if i need to download the other facebook clients like blabber or not. I saw something on Droudforums.net about checking a box for android for facebook under notification settings on the facebook main page, but that didnt help me at all.!

Mar 25, 2010The Facebook downright sucks. It's a poor implementation... often get errors when trying to post a comment. And having pics and notification links just link you to the web version is quite lame. WHEN can we expect a refresh of the Facebook app?

Aug 4, 2010I turned my phone on right around 7AM this morning with 100% battery. Got the notice that an update was available for the Facebook app, installed that and did nothing else with my phone. Screen off and in my pocket.
Got to work, next time I turned my screen on around 8:15 I saw that my battery was already at 81%! Checked status and my up time and awake time were the same.
Only change I made was the Facebook app, so went to my accounts and synch settings. There were two FB listings in there, one normal and one for Sense. The Sense one had options to change synch, the plain FB didn't have any options to change.
Deleted Facebook and everything is working fine now, phones going to sleep when it should. So looks like something is messed up with the Facebook app newest update.

Aug 12, 2010Could someone explain to me how exactly facebook contacts are updated under "People"? By that I mean the picture and the status updates. Is it Friendstream? I am not using friendstream for live feeds. I only have sync contacts checked. I am using the actual facebook app. Let me explain..I have been playing around trying to get optimal battery. I am using the facebook app widget to view status updates. I have the facebook refresh interval at 30 minutes and all notifcations off (since they dont work)Under "people" I have all the facebook options checked. Since there are 2, I dont know which one is for facebook app and which is for friendstream. I want to make sure my phone is not trying to sync contacts twice. Also, anyone else having trouble with no twitter contacts showing up under "people"? Neither friendstream or the twitter app do it.

Dec 29, 2009For contacts that I have linked to their respective Facebook accounts, I had the phone import their Facebook default picture to use as their contact card photo.
However, once they change their default picture on Facebook, my phone never gets updated. It remains the initial picture that was imported, even if I go to the contact and tell it to update (which then gives me the option to use Birthday and Photo). The photo never gets updated though.
But... If I remove the Facebook link from that contact, and then link it again, their new Facebook picture shows up.
So my question... Is there any way this can be done automatically, without me having to do it this way? I'd like my contact photos to be updated automatically whenever they are changed (or at least have a set interval to check, like maybe once a day or so).

1- I have Desire with Froyo. So, technically whenever I install an app, I should be given an option to install it on SD card. But so far, haven't seen it yet, consequently today I got a message that phone memory is running low. So, please help me out.
2- Secondly, last night due to some reason I opened navigation first time and there came two pop-ups asking me for some settings. I ticked them and then a satellite logo appeared on top bar. Does it consume a lot of battery?
3- So far I have set many applications on automatic updates but I have observed that I have to always update them manually. They don't get updated automatically.

Nov 4, 2010My 'accounts & sync' settings have always had 'facebook' turned off for syncing, and I have never turned it on. Yet this morning i was playing around with the bit in 'people' to try and see if the facebook bit in there worked and i would be able to link a contact in there with their facebook account. It asked me to log into facebook (after which incidentally it could not then find the contact in facebook lol). After that i went to the calendar and it now shows ALL 2500 facebook contacts birthdays!!
Please tell me there is a way to undo this. at no point did i ever select auto facebook syncing, or choose to import facebook calendar. Obviously now the calendar is pretty unusable as there are multiple bithdays on every day.

I debranded my own desire with the goldcard method, and then using the unrevoked method i rooted my phone.
Hubby updated his Desire over the air to 2.2
Has an easy method to root this 2.2 update been created yet.
Didn't mind taking a chance with my phone, but not with someone elses!

Jun 22, 2010My HTC Desire's Facebook directory lists 205 friends for my Facebook, while in reality I have 207 (and Facebook for Android app of course shows them all, too)I'm not quite sure why or how 2 of them have gone missing, but I think one went when I messed a bit up, merged 2 contacts on my phone and started removing information from that contact, so it in the end had only 1 number and 1 facebook friend linked to it. Ever since I haven't been able to see the friend whose contact/link I removed in Facebook directory.I've tried uninstalling Facebook for Android to access Facebook for HTC Sense, but apparently it can't be completely uninstalled - only the update(s) for it, and the cache/data can be uninstalled for what I can tell.
So I've uninstalled it's updates, I've cleared it data/cache - and I've cleared all the cache/data from Facebook for HTC Sense too.I've removed my phone-linked Facebook account, too, with no luck.No matter how many times I try re-syncing or refreshing, the 2 contacts are still missing.One new contact that I added as my friend today appeared normally, though.Any ideas how to fix this? It's annoying when I can't link 1 contact to her Facebook, when I have pretty much everyone else linked to theirs.

Aug 9, 2010I updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.

Jul 20, 2010There's a new version of Facebook available on the Market, but because the Desire comes with the official Facebook app already installed it doesn't prompt you to update it.When you click to install the version on the Market, the phone is clever enough detect the preinstalled one and applies it as an update, so you don't end up with two Facebook apps in the phone menu or Manage Apps menu. After installing it the Manage Apps option changes from 'Clear data' to 'Uninstall updates' and the version has gone from 114 to 121. You'll also notice that the 'Take photo' tile has now been replaced with 'Inbox'. There's still no option to tag people in images.

Aug 4, 2010Installed the new updated 1.3 version of Facebook for Android this morning. when i checked my phone just now i noticed battery is lower than it should be. a look at the Battery Graph (separate app) shows that it's draining constantly... so i checked the PARTIAL WAKE USE via the Spare Parts app. and voila: the new facebook up stays awake constantly. that's despite having any connectivity turned off (via the network connection switch; i only turn on when i need it to save battery).
