View 1 RepliesIs anyone aware of any voice dialing apps that speak back, ala blackberry, instead of giving you a visual list that you must then interact with, negating the benefits of voice dialing, like when driving and not able to look at the phone?

I don't want my contacts and my calendar to be synched with google online. i would like to them to live solely on my phone (and one of my computers if necessary).
Secondly, it would be great if there were an all-inclusive app that drew on your contacts to post, say, a contact's birthday directly to your calendar, and also allowed you to use that contact's information to dial them up on the phone, msg them, email them, etc.
Does anyone know of such an application(s) for the android operating system that does not require you to post your personal contact and calendar information out on the internet?
I have access to both windows xp and mac os x v 4.11, if a computer is required to sync with.
I was messing with the Evo last night & did a call "Jill' at home while pressing some button. I cant figure out how I did it. Where is the voice dial for the Evo?

However, I cannot click the phone number. Is there a way of having a PDF reader that recognizes phone numbers (and email addresses) and allows you to click those features in order to dial (or send an email)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have pretty bad lag when i dial phone numbers, also when i hit call and end call. my phone is rooted and has fresh 1.1, however, it was doing this before. Just want to know if anyone else has this, or has noticed it.
View 30 Replies View RelatedAm I missing a setting here or something, the last few phones I have had, Palm and WinMo, would allow you to dial a phone number from within a text or calendar event by taping on it, any string of 7 numbers or more if you clicked on it it would ask if you wanted to dial, this is really helpful of someone texts you a phone # and you want to call it

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having an awful time with my Eris when it comes to picking up calls and an even worse time dialing out. Everything is delayed after pressing keys. This morning I went to dial someone and when it didn't dial I set the phone down to use my office phone and then out of the corner of my eye I see it was calling the person. Once I had the person on the phone w/in a minute my cheek (I'm assuming) ended the call.
So the screen was in the call history list so I pressed his name again to call and it called the next person below on the list. It was probably adding his name to the call history and moved the list but because it was delayed it dialed the wrong person. I love this phone except for phone Calls. I'm going into Verizon today to complain. They will be able to tell from my call history how frequently I'm missing calls because the phone doesn't pick up and then I redial back. 5 calls back and forth for a 2 minute conversations!
I have seen threads of people having problems getting the voice dialer to work on the X10....and now that I have bought a bluetooth handsfree kit the problems are even more obvious. There is a button on the handsfree unit (Jabra BT2080) that activates voice dialing but it does nothing on my phone! How do I get it to activate the voice dialing on my phone?

I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. The lag id horrible compared to typing with the vibrate off

View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else have a Blueant q1 paired with their incredible? I seem to be having some issues with mine. For some reason it is not dialing any of the speeddials correctly. It seems to just do a redial whenever I attempt to dial any of the favorites.
View 3 Replies View Relatednoticed something weird with KitKat, and confirmed this on two different phones (Nexus 5 and Moto G but running latest KitKat 4.4.2). On occasion (not every time) the phone seems to auto dial someone after you've ended a call with someone else.
My wife reported the problem first with her Moto G. At first I thought she might just be accidentally hitting a button after calling someone (this is her first smart phone and first touch screen phone) but it's happened several times for her. Final catch was today when I clearly had it happen to me (it also appears it may have happened before once or twice on my phone). I had called someone using my bluetooth in my car, at the end of the call I pushed the hangup button on the steering wheel, and the call ended. Then my wife picked up the phone to call another person and we both noticed it was calling some other friend of ours (that I had txt'd with maybe 2 hours before). It had just started calling this person for no reason. We quickly ended the call (hopefully it didn't bug them), but wow is that annoying.
It seems to happen every once in a while right after hanging up with another call. It seems to call someone in either your recent call or txt history. I'm not sure what might trigger it as it doesn't happen every time, and I'm not sure what number it chooses to call (though it does appear to be someone you recently called or txt'd).
Background; I am in the process of writing an Android messaging application that needs to know the current user's phone number. This is then used to connect to other users using the application. My application relies on looking up the user's number from Android's Settings -> About Phone -> Phone identity -> Phone number (this can at times be blank.. but that is a separate problem). I am assuming that the above Phone number contains the user's full number. ie, my UK Android phone shows my number as: +447832xxxxxxxx, where 44 is the UK's international dialing code and 7832 is the operator. Is it safe to assume that all Androids phones would include the international dialing code, which starts with +? I would be indebted if any Android users could have a quick look at their Android settings and confirm whether Phone number is displayed as +international code+operator+number, i.e. US Android sets start with +1xxxxxx.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Voice Dialing program in the phone is a total joke.. You have to have the phone in your hand, activate the voice dialing, speak your request, then manually confirm your request on the phone its self.. I thought the whole purpose of the voice dialing feature was for hands free capabilities.. The way this program currently works renders it utterly useless. I have a Cardo Q2 setup for my motorcycle helmet.. which has a bluetooth phone link setup in it.. Its basically a bluetooth headset thats integrated into the helmet. Everything works fine with the G1 phone except the voice dialing. Does anyone know of a Voice Dialing app that basically revamps the factory program so that you can use voice dialing w/ your headset? I searched and searched but couldn't find any real answer to this question.
View 22 Replies View RelatedAfter watching many news clips about the new iPhone I figured out my inability to disconnect a call was caused by the way I was holding the phone and that is what the proximity sensor is all about. Rather poed that neither Verizon or Motorola knew what I was talking about. According to TV News this is a problem with almost every new smart phone. I now have an interconnected problem. I am having trouble voice dialing a call. Apparently many others are as well. What is the significance of the different NAME fields in "Contacts"? Which one will the Voice Dialer look in? Any help about other Voice Dialers for the Motorola Android 2? Any suggestions as to how to better use the built in voice dialer(s)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is what I want the end result to be. I have the screen to left of my home screen clear. What I NEED for this screen is to have 8 one touch phone contacts that I can clearly tell the difference between. The 8 would consist of 4 people, my 4 supervisors with both of their phone numbers (office & cell). I tried 2 folders, one for office and one for cell. I don't like it that way. Using these, in some cases will need to be quick, and the folder doesn't stay open when you move away from the screen. If I put them directly on the screen neither the icon nor the title show the difference between the office and the cell. Then I created groups for cell and office in Google contact.s I added the HTC People widget (the tall one) for both. The widgets, of course, stay open, but when I touch the button it only takes me to the contact card. An app, thoughts, suggestions?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a dial app with two basic features
- After entering a number always dial to a fixed number being the number of an Asterisk (communication toolkit/open source PBX) PBX
- After the PBX picks up the phone send the number entered as dtmf tones to the PBX, so the PBX can set up a call to this number and
bridge the two legs. (from android phone to pbx/from pbx to entered number) so the desired connection is set up.With this app available it would be quite easy to integrate mobile phones into the internal communication infra structure and keep the presence info up to date even when someone is not available because he is making a phonecall with his/her mobile android phone.
My application has an emergency button which dials 911 when clicked on. Every thing on the app is working fine. But I just discovered that whenever I try to add another call when I am in a call, it promps me to complete the action using. 1. my app 2. The normal phone And when I click on my app, it just opens my app. I do not understand what is causing this and do not want my app to be shown in that list.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded iSkoot, the Skype application for Android. Made an overseas Android to computer call, which was a bit choppy over wi-fi, and then tried calling an overseas landline. To my surprise, iSkoot dialed a 1877 number which, using Skype credit, routed my call over the net to the end number. I wonder why is iSkoot dialing when I call a landline? In effect this is no different than, say, a Net2Phone card. Did T-Mobile restrict it? And then I thought it was a bit hypocritical of T-Mobile to get worked up about VoIP apps when it markets the HotSpot@Home service, which does the same to you landline carrier.
