Hope someone can help, When I transfer a pic from my Desire via bluetooth to my vista laptop,all i get in my pictures folder is a file. not a jpg file ( no Thumbnail pic) When i click on it, it asks what program I want to open it with. all my pics open with Windows photo gallery. Why does it not convert straight to a jpg?

I have just bought an HTC Desire but i cant make the sync with HTC sync work. After af search of approximatitely 15 seconds a popup on the phone says that it can't find HTC sync on the computer. The USB connection works fine for file sharing. In my hardware monitor (dont know the english word for the window, but that in Control Panel -> System ->??? where you can see all attached devieces) i see a deveice called "My HTC" with a yellow exclamation triangle. I suspect the problem is here, but dont know has to solve it. The HTC sync has all button disabled so i cannot access the "Repair tool" i think there is in the sync manager.
- Disable all firewall(none), antivirus (Norton) and Spyware protection (AdAware) before installing HTC sync.
- Used "Run" -> "msconfig" to disable all non-MS processes and remove all starting app. Then restarted the computer and reinstalled (suggest to HTC to another user)..........
Seems to be another Vista and sync problem: Laptop will recognise Desire in "Disc Drive" mode, but not in "Sync" mode. No response from the lappy and error flung up on the Desire ""Unable to find HTC sync on your PC ...etc"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the xpweria mini x10 and its possibly the most appaliing phone ive ever had from sony.Its not easy to use, nothing is easy and the nclear simple interface that i liked so much from sony has all gone.Worst of all it won't bluetooth. it will find other phones and pair but won't then connect.it also locks itself in about ten seconds which makes it a loain to use all the timeAnd generally its too small and messy to use the touch screen comfortably.

So I want to give the damaged one to the misses and I want to transfer everything from it to the new one. And then wipe the old one. The old one is 2.2 I don't know what the new one is, probably the one the stock version. Both are Vodafone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched from a Nokia N95 to an HTC Desire on Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't out in the Middle East yet I guess). I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts on to the Desire. On setting up the phone, it has pulled my contacts from Gmail & Facebook, which I don't really need. I will not be calling or mailing most of the people on that list. There are a 1000+ contacts on those lists and I don't need all of them on my contact list. I tried to use the Nokia Ovi Suite to sync contacts, but for some reason I was not able to transfer them onto the PC. So I copied them all onto the SIM card and then put the SIM into the Desire and exported them to the phone memory.
The problem is that on copying them onto the SIM on the N95, I have multiple entries on the list. For contacts with more than 1 number under them, there are separate entries for each number, with the same name. Is there a method to group them the same way they were earlier i.e. One contact entry with a Home, Mobile, & Business number? Do let me know. It will hugely helpful. The only other way I can think of is to sit and enter all the numbers manually!
I cannot get my Iphone 3G and DHD to sync my contacts using the "Transfer Data" function. I follow the on screen instructions on the DHD. Set the Iphone to 'discoverable' but cant get any further. Usually the Iphone doesn't even appear on the DHD Bluetooth devices list and on the odd occassion that it does, as soon as i go to connect it drops out and says i should restart both phones. I have done this numerous times to no avail. Has anyone managed to do this same transfer? And if so can they provide a little assistance?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to tidy up contacts and want to transfer all the contacts on my Desire to my PC, tidy them and send them back. I had a look at the other thread s on this but they don't seem to cover Desire.
It seems I can only transfer contacts as VCards, one at a time, via bluetooth, is this the case? That would be a pain.
So, what are the alternatives? I think I can use sync but I'm not sure how. Any other options? Using the built in mailer in Desire, I assume, since I didn't load another one, and using Thunderbird on PC, if that info is pertinent.
I have been using astro to send files via bluetooth. I noticed however, that the type of files you can send is limited. It seems I can send pics & MP3s, but not PDFs or APKs for example. If i try to 'send' them in astro, I only get the mail or gmail options. Is this normal, or can't I drive the phone properly again?

This sim seems blocked on t-moble HTC desire phone as i tried to insert into HTC desire and there is no network and menu to access the phone (say contact customer service), phone gets locked. 2nd way was via bluetooth transfer to PC. My old phone number appears to have been transferred over to my new contract this morning. So much for the text messages I was told I would receive before and after it happened. Anyway,
If I go to Settings > About > Phone Identity
It still shows my old number, how do I change it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just wondering what people find is the best way to transfer music/files onto the Micro SD? I've tried connecting the phone via USB and also placing the Micro SD into a card reader and connecting directly to the PC that way. However, with both methods I get the same fault. When I place the card back into the phone, or disconnect the USB I get the 'Preparing SD Card' message, followed by 'The SD Card is damaged' with my only option to format the card and start all over again.
