HTC Desire : Way To Transfer Music Onto Micro SD?
Jun 27, 2010
I'm just wondering what people find is the best way to transfer music/files onto the Micro SD? I've tried connecting the phone via USB and also placing the Micro SD into a card reader and connecting directly to the PC that way. However, with both methods I get the same fault. When I place the card back into the phone, or disconnect the USB I get the 'Preparing SD Card' message, followed by 'The SD Card is damaged' with my only option to format the card and start all over again.

Thinking of buying a new micro SD card for my phone. As in can I drag and drop copy the entire contents of my old micro SD card into my computer, then drag and drop copy the entire contents into a new micro SD card, and the applications will still work fine? I worry because google might have implemented something to prevent this as a piracy protection measure.

I am trying to transfer some music over to my phone through the usb with mass storage selected and the transfer rate is only about 2MB/s. Does this seem about average? Just seems like 3.4GB taking 24~28 minutes is a little slow

From what I was told, the Inc supports 32gb microsd card. So I ordered a Sandisk one...class 4. I got it and tested it out. It seems like it can transfer/read small files....but anything big it wouldn't read properly. It's funny cuz a movie file would transfer and play...but if I delete it and transfer the same exact file over, it wouldn't play. Or if I transfer music, some files play and some wouldnt. And some even would merge into one file. Like one song would play and then all sudden another song would POP up like what a DJ does when they mix songs together.
I know I might have a defected one but this is a legit Sandisk card. So what else could be the problem? Should I transfer the file one or slower so the card can read it....is there a way or procedure to using a 32gb MicroSd card? Lol. I mean I have a 16gb right now and it reads and transfers fine. With the 16gb I can literally drag a folder of 10 movies and it would be fine.

I just picked up a 16GB Micro-SD card for <$60 at Office Depot on sale... beating the nearest online price by $7.00 (according to the Shopper App). The question is, what am I going to fill all that memory goodness with?
Music?
Photos?
Videos?
What else?
What are YOU planning on filling your 16 or 32 Micro-SD card with?

Does the Incredible allow you to play music through the Micro USB port or can you only do it through the 3.5mm port? I'm looking at car docks and I've always heard that the USB ports give out better quality audio than the 3.5mm ports. Can anyone confirm this and if the Incredible has a dock for the USB port. I'm looking for an FM transmitter by the way...

I have purchased a 23gb sdhc micro sd card. On my computer and phone the total memory is recognized. When connected to the computer I can transfer my selected music across to the phone (htc legend). No issues and no errors.
Everytime I dismount the phone and then check these files the phone only see 4-5gb of the music (9gb orignally added). If I then try and reconnect to my computer only the 4-5gb is present the rest has been erased! This is happened with 2 micro sd cards. Really confused - can anyone help?

Do you have to put music on the micro SD card or can you put it directly on the phone? Also, if I want to change to a custom ringtone, does that have to be stored on my micro SD card?

Love my Eris, except for its music playback. With the SD card that came with it I have about 5gb of music. The music UI is choppy as can be, borderline unplayable at times, the lag is really bad. I've read other posts about faster cards improving performance on the player, but none really elaborating on the music playback.

Most of the specs for tablets which have a micro SD media slot do not give any details about it. I'm generally wondering if a slot labelled "microSD" will accept a micro SDHC card (as opposed to a micro SD card). I know, for example, that some older memory card readers won't read the SDHC cards, even if they have an SD slot. I'm not sure about the tablets however.
Example of some of the tablets that I'd be interested in knowing this about are: Acer Iconia A700 or A210, and Toshiba Excite.

I don't really understand the difference, except one is cheaper than the other. I assume the Desire takes both, but does it really matter. I know my laptop can read both, but my desktop can't read the sdhc ones, i guess it's too old!

When I charge with a non HTC USB cable the phone wont charge. I've had it on for the last 16 hours and although the light goes orange and the little battery animates as though it's charging it hasn't budged since I put it on... I haven't tried it with the official cable yet but does anyone know of any reason why a non-HTC USB cable wouldn't do the same as a HTC branded one?

What do you use to transfer music to your android device?
Also, what is your favorite music player on the android? (the default one is just ok)
I manage my music collection with foobar2000 and my directories look like: 01 title.mp3...folder.jpg
So, android can't figure out the album art right now, has anyone had any experience solving this problem?
Also, I don't know if this is specific to my phone (galaxy with galaxo), but it does not recognize songs with chinese id3 tags (it shows up as ?).

This may sound like a stupid question, but how does one transfer MP3s to the device? I thought, I connect the device in "disc mode" and then copy the files over, but when I did so I only got an error message that this device contains an unknown file system and needs to be formatted before it can be used.
Should I do that? Will it then work in "disk mode"? I would have guessed, that Android uses some *ix-like file system.

So I have an iPod and, as such, all of my music is in iTunes. But I'm wondering what the easiest way to transfer music to my Evo is. When I connected my phone to my desktop and looked around in the Music folder, I noticed that all the sample songs were organized as such:
SD Card>Music>Name of Artist>Name of Song
Now, if iTunes organized all it's music that way, this would be as simple as ctrl+c and ctrl+v. But it doesn't. It's all like:
Music>Artist>Album>Song
The Evo doesn't recognize songs organized that way. So, without making new folders for every artist and copy pasting each song into them, what's the easiest way to transfer music to the phone?
Sorry, didn't realize I was in the Support and Troubleshooting forum. I guess it still kinda fits, though.
