My computer doesnt have blutooth but i think there must be some app out there where i can just browse my computers data over wifi and transfer them to my phone over wifi? is this possible? and what app would i need?

I would like to transfer pictures from my desire to laptop with usb. I can see the desire on my laptop but cannot see my pictures. I can see the pictures that came with the desire on the laptop.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have .avi movie files on my PC. I want to put them onto my desire and watch them. I don't know how to do this from start to finish, can some please explain each step and where to put the files on the phone memory, as I dont see a movie folder?
I also don't see an option in menu section for video or movie? With my samsung it was easy, as the PC studio software left you drag and drop movies in, it converted them, and then went straight into the phones movie folder. Desire seems very different?
i have htc desire phone. i have problem with bluetooth.while transferring files from my computer mp3,some files are transferred instantly while with others same mp3 format the bluetooth connection goes off and files are not transferred.i dont know why?

When I connect my phone to the computer, I want to put files on the phone and be able to access them. I have Astro File Manager, but when I go all the way to the top level of folders with that, the folders available are.

I'm on Froyo 2.2 (stock ROM) and i have some .apk files on my computer that I want to install, how should I do this since I cant seem to get HTC Sync to work?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just switched to the R8 release and after that I cannot mount the sd card to the computer to transfer files back and forth. I can get adb and odin to recognize the phone just fine and it also charges off the connection just no mounting for the card.

I'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

Already i can see that android is significantly better than Winmo 6.5 which was awful in my opinion.Is there an app that can play avi files? If not is there something that is free to use that can convert the files to a format that suits the Desire.I have searched the forums and market place but with no luck.
How do you go about checking what is stored on your phones memory and deleting content? For example I used dropbox and downloaded a 7mb photo onto my phone. Can't find it in the photos app or anywhere else. Going into SD & phone storage under settings doesn't do anything. It says I have 70mb available space under phone storage but you can't click on that to get any further info. Same goes for the SD card options.

I will upload some pictures to my personal flickr account in a bit. One I get everything configured and get over the shock of how much bigger the screen is over my Hero.

The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI always used to backup my Nokias to their PC suite on my home computer. That backuped everything on the phone if I wanted and also was excellent when I changed phones, as, as long as they were Nokia I could just restore everything to my new phone.
Is there any similar system for my HTC Desire? I need the assurance that if my phone gets stolen or needs to be replaced, as I'll backup often, I'll be able to restore everything to my new phone directly from the computer.
I would love to make my telephone switch my computer off when I go out of the house, when I leave a zone.
Is there any way of doing that? All it would need to, is send an e-mail or something.
I cant seem to transfer photos from my PC to my phone, am I being dense - I am sure it should be easy.

So I want to give the damaged one to the misses and I want to transfer everything from it to the new one. And then wipe the old one. The old one is 2.2 I don't know what the new one is, probably the one the stock version. Both are Vodafone.

1. uninstalling doubletwist
2. connecting, going back from charger only to disk drive.
3. ejecting the removable hardware and switching from charger only to disk drive and still nothing.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate this.
I would like to add songs to have a different notification for text messages to phone calls. I have seen from Tips where I need to put them but when I connect my phone to the computer I can't see a folder "sdcard". I can see various folders within the phone, eg photos but not this one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe back of my phone feels hot when I've been charging it using the USB port on my computer , but with the normal mains charger it's fine (the *#*#4636#*#* battery status thing shows the battery temperature at 30 degrees after 30 mins of charging and the back feels hot also). I checked it was cool before I plugged it in, and it feels hot across the area where it says "with HTC Sense" in capital letters. Also, I'm using the "charge only" option on the phone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just switched from a Nokia N95 to an HTC Desire on Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't out in the Middle East yet I guess). I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts on to the Desire. On setting up the phone, it has pulled my contacts from Gmail & Facebook, which I don't really need. I will not be calling or mailing most of the people on that list. There are a 1000+ contacts on those lists and I don't need all of them on my contact list. I tried to use the Nokia Ovi Suite to sync contacts, but for some reason I was not able to transfer them onto the PC. So I copied them all onto the SIM card and then put the SIM into the Desire and exported them to the phone memory.
The problem is that on copying them onto the SIM on the N95, I have multiple entries on the list. For contacts with more than 1 number under them, there are separate entries for each number, with the same name. Is there a method to group them the same way they were earlier i.e. One contact entry with a Home, Mobile, & Business number? Do let me know. It will hugely helpful. The only other way I can think of is to sit and enter all the numbers manually!
I cannot get my Iphone 3G and DHD to sync my contacts using the "Transfer Data" function. I follow the on screen instructions on the DHD. Set the Iphone to 'discoverable' but cant get any further. Usually the Iphone doesn't even appear on the DHD Bluetooth devices list and on the odd occassion that it does, as soon as i go to connect it drops out and says i should restart both phones. I have done this numerous times to no avail. Has anyone managed to do this same transfer? And if so can they provide a little assistance?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to tidy up contacts and want to transfer all the contacts on my Desire to my PC, tidy them and send them back. I had a look at the other thread s on this but they don't seem to cover Desire.
It seems I can only transfer contacts as VCards, one at a time, via bluetooth, is this the case? That would be a pain.
So, what are the alternatives? I think I can use sync but I'm not sure how. Any other options? Using the built in mailer in Desire, I assume, since I didn't load another one, and using Thunderbird on PC, if that info is pertinent.
I have been using astro to send files via bluetooth. I noticed however, that the type of files you can send is limited. It seems I can send pics & MP3s, but not PDFs or APKs for example. If i try to 'send' them in astro, I only get the mail or gmail options. Is this normal, or can't I drive the phone properly again?

This sim seems blocked on t-moble HTC desire phone as i tried to insert into HTC desire and there is no network and menu to access the phone (say contact customer service), phone gets locked. 2nd way was via bluetooth transfer to PC. My current phone is nokia 6288, i transfered contacts to PC but I cant locate them (can access only via bluetooth menu in case i want to restore them to the same phone only)
