I'm using the usb cable, and am just getting around 3 MBps for large files. It takes too long to copy movies over.Is it because of the phone or because of the class of card I have (class 2)? What speeds are you getting? Should I get a new fast card?

I wanted to write an application that makes use of the camera taking extremely slow frame-rate video and uploading it. Right now I am reading over this:

My question was in regards to the camera's use. The above article makes use of a canvas to preview the image, if one didn't want to preview the image before taking it could that be done? Is it necessary to use a preview of the camera image or can I just call takepicture to take the picture and catch the resulting callback to save it to a file?
I use DU meter but its in the notification panel...i need one in the notification bar

This is my first Android phone. I actually switched from Verizon to get it (something I never thought I'd do). So far it is absolutely awesome! Something that could make it more awesome, however, is to load it up with music and also get the test videos and pics I took off the phone to view on my PC.
That's where the problem lies. When I plug the phone into my PC (Win 7x64) and put the phone in disk mode it pops up and I can see everything that's on the phone. First I tried copying some music. It started copying at an abysmal 300-600 KB/s. It was going to take two hours to complete. I canceled it which subsequently froze Windows Explorer until I unplugged the phone from the USB port.
Next, I tried to copy the 40 MB video I took earlier. As soon as I click on the video (just select it, not open it) Explorer stops responding until I unplug the phone.
This doesn't make any sense. I realize I can remove the SD card and stick it in a card reader but that is a huge inconvenience since it is under the battery. Has anyone else had trouble with this?
I have tried three different PC's and multiple USB ports on each.
right now i am trying to transfer 2.85 gigs onto the droid, its going at 315kb/s. is it cause of the new froyo leak or is something else wrong? im using the stock cable with stock memory card in my stockings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using handcent for my sms. i think it is great, i can customize it heaps how i want it. however there is an option for changing the colour/rate of the LED blink light for when i get a text, however no matter what i pick it never changes. the little light at the top always blinks every 4-5 seconds in a green colour when i have a new message, however i would love for it to blink blue every second (as i have tried to set it) so that i can differentiate the notifications from reminders and other notifications. is this a problem with the phone not doing wat it is supposed to, or the application isnt working? or a combination, maybe the desire doesnt have any other colours for its LED light?

View 21 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my desire is quite slow on my home wifi. On speed tests I get around 600-700kbit/s, whereas on 3g i get 1800-2000kbit/s. My other devices (laptop, ps3, ipod) dont suffer from slow speeds and can get around 12mbit/s. I've tried updating the router firmware and changing the channels but its still slow, even when my desire is right next to the router! Router is a netgear dg834gt.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince about 10pm last night my dhd has become unbelievably slow. every key press (whether it's accessing a menu or typing a word) has a delay and even loading my inbox takes several seconds. the circular sync logo is displaying itself most of the time on the top right of the screen, so it could be something to do with that? i've tried rebooting the phone, going offline etc. but nothing seems to be able to fix it.anyone else had this problem with a desire or desire hd before? it worries me a little. i hate stuff like this...

I don't turn the phone off very often, but every now and then it's worth it, but it's taking far too long and I keep having to pull the battery. Anyone got any thoughts?

I am trying to download a couple of apps from the Android market (not at the same time) and they are going painfully slow, if at all. They are showing in the 'currently downloading' frame but don't appear to be doing anything. I am using wifi to download the apps and I have never had an issue before. Could anyone help?

I have not seen a live demo of the phone yet, but so far I love the Sense UI, Android OS, Size and look of the phone. My gf is getting a Iphone 4, I think it�s an awesome phone but don�t like the UI, size or look of the phone. One thing I do like though is the speed in menus and browser. So I have a few questions. I have heard alot of complaints about lag on Desire HD but that it�s been fixed with the USB debug thing. So how is the smoothness now compared to the Iphone? I've ticked the Update automatically button, in the weather settings, but when I go back to it, the settings default to not being ticked?? I didn't have this problem before. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy HTC is really slow! When I receive a new message it takes about 30seconds to even open it, then a further 30 or so to wait for the keyboard to respond. I have tried deleting the messages from my inbox and starting fresh, but am slightly cautious about just giving it a factory reset!
Also, when i am finished a phone call, as I take the phone away from my ear, it flashes on and off, meaning that I can't actually put the phone down! The only way to do it is to take the battery out of the back and start again!
Overall, I'm not very impressed with the phone, its supposed to be suitable for a businessman, but I can't even get it to work as a personal user!
We have 4 other people in the house with the same phone and none of them are experiencing these problems.
I cant seem to transfer photos from my PC to my phone, am I being dense - I am sure it should be easy.

So I want to give the damaged one to the misses and I want to transfer everything from it to the new one. And then wipe the old one. The old one is 2.2 I don't know what the new one is, probably the one the stock version. Both are Vodafone.

I just switched from a Nokia N95 to an HTC Desire on Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't out in the Middle East yet I guess). I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts on to the Desire. On setting up the phone, it has pulled my contacts from Gmail & Facebook, which I don't really need. I will not be calling or mailing most of the people on that list. There are a 1000+ contacts on those lists and I don't need all of them on my contact list. I tried to use the Nokia Ovi Suite to sync contacts, but for some reason I was not able to transfer them onto the PC. So I copied them all onto the SIM card and then put the SIM into the Desire and exported them to the phone memory.
The problem is that on copying them onto the SIM on the N95, I have multiple entries on the list. For contacts with more than 1 number under them, there are separate entries for each number, with the same name. Is there a method to group them the same way they were earlier i.e. One contact entry with a Home, Mobile, & Business number? Do let me know. It will hugely helpful. The only other way I can think of is to sit and enter all the numbers manually!
I cannot get my Iphone 3G and DHD to sync my contacts using the "Transfer Data" function. I follow the on screen instructions on the DHD. Set the Iphone to 'discoverable' but cant get any further. Usually the Iphone doesn't even appear on the DHD Bluetooth devices list and on the odd occassion that it does, as soon as i go to connect it drops out and says i should restart both phones. I have done this numerous times to no avail. Has anyone managed to do this same transfer? And if so can they provide a little assistance?
