View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 4GB SD card and it thinks that it has a total of 200MB on there (Its empty). I have tried formatting it using my Mac & via the phone itself but it continues to believe that its a 200MB MiniSD card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to flash a new ROM that requires a partitioned SD for apps2SD. When I try to partition from ext2 to ext3, this is what I get: Error : Run 'fs ext3' via adb! Anyone know what is going on here? I am coming from CELBFroyo. Edit: I forgot to actually partition first. I tried to hit ext2 to ext3 first.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI developed a cramfs rom for the np7 after user dochoppy found root for the nextbook premium 7 tablet, but he then converted to ext3 which because its packed with features will be more popular. So I am trying to edit his ext3 rom in Ubuntu 11.10 and here is what I do:
1. Copy and paste system.img to desktop
2. Create a folder called system on desktop
3. In command prompt:
cd ~/Desktop
Sudo mount -t ext3 -o loop system.img system
(Asks for pw)
4. Doc said something about only being able to edit as root, so after some Googling I find out how to create a program that grants root.
5. (Open "run as" program) then I type "nautilus /home"
(Asks for pw)
6. Navigate to mounted system and I have read/write privileges (but only in this window)
7. View the system mount properties, and it says I have 14.2 mb free space on device
8. Delete files throughout the system folder to make room (but when I refresh properties, free space increase doesn't show)
9. Try to add my own files after deleting some others, ans rather than using the increased space, it just fills the fourteen megs before telling me "device is out of memory "
why is the system not physically making the proper system increase and decreases.
I've followed the HOW TO: Root Your Desire Easily (Method #2)guide and the app reported 'Done'the phone boots back up fine etc but how do I know it it actually worked? Not trying any customs roms yet but I have tried to install Titanium backup and that failed after I gave it super-user permissions. Is the a setting on the on the HBOOT menu that tells me I'm rooted ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes this just check for messages whenever you are connected to 3G/Wireless? Or are there some settings to tell it how often to check?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm with VF, luckily I didn't get the dreaded OTA last week. My phone is totally unbranded, so I'm wondering if it will let me install 2.2 manually without the need for a goldcard and all the messing about. is there an easy way to check ? I don't want to attempt an install for it to screw up and brick the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a new Desire S. But after update to 2.3.5 , all the keyboards removed. So I took it to the guarantee servise and they told me that they will install a new original (stock) rom on my phone and everything will be solved.
Now they say it is done and I must go to get my phone.
How can I check if they have rooted the phone or not? Also, how can I check if the installed ROM is stock or not.
What number do people have configured for the 'Call forwarding settings' in Menu -> Settings -> Call -> Call forwarding? It takes 10 secs to "read settings" then shows a random number I don't recognise under busy / unanswered and unreachable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a notification today about the Froyo update being available (yay!) but was in the middle of something so hit cancel, thinking I could get it later. But I can't work out how to!
It did say that the phone would check again at the next scheduled time so I can download it then if need be - but does anyone know how to make the phone check before then?
Yesterday I made some modifications to my old HTC Desire HD. I removed the battery and instead soldered a fixed power adapter to the phone (at + and - where the battery usually is). It worked well, I could reboot it, turn it off and on as usual. But then I desided to flash another ROM (an unofficial CM 4.4 port), and now the phone is shutting down as soon as it enters the launcher. It says I need to connect the charger.
I can successfully boot the phone if I start the phone with the charger plugged in (which probobly isn't healthy for the phone but whatever). Then I can unplug the charger with no problem.
So, i've tried deleting the batterystats.bin file, replaced it with an empty file with no r/w permissions at all, but it will still be replaced by the system at reboot.
How can i skip the battery check att boot, or how can i lock it to 100% forever?
I've looked through the other SMTP threads on here also, but didn't see anything that seemed to fit. I have a Desire and I use it over a WiFi link in my home, fine for surfing and reading mail, but when I try to set up an outgoing mail account on my 'usual' mail account I run into a problem. Because I travel a lot I use a service called authsmtp to provide me with an smtp address wherever I am, works fine, annual fee is low (not a recommendation, works for me).
However, in order to work it needs an SMTP address of the form mail.authsmtp.com and a password. I can enter the mail.authsmtp.com ok but it always says it cannot check the account. Is this 'cos it cannot check the smtp or is it something else? All the other data seems to be ok.
I thank HTC for trying to take Blackberry's notification LED and implementing on our Desire
However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?
I've got the following row xml file which consists of CheckboxView and TextView;
CODE:............
When the app run, i'm unable to "tick" any of the check boxes...
Check for system updates doesn't check.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMenu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites
It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"
When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"
So, the question is, should this be enabled?
I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.
I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.
So, to check or not to check?
I got my phone yesterday and been playing with it since. Good bits-going on the net is quick, clear and very smooth. Customizing is very good. Bad bits-would have thought it would come with a video player that could play any type of format. I can't put apps onto mem card, thought the hole point of being able to put a large size mem card into the phone was so you could put all the extras onto the card. This is the main let down for me, got some apps on the phone last night then the phone said it had run out memory. I've seen that rooting can change this but don't fancy voiding my warranty. Wonder if a future update would cover this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my desire for one week now and have been playing around with apps etc (first android phone)I got a message today saying my phone memory was low (at one point i couldn't install an app. I have always uninstalled apps that i do not want and i have also moved as many as will allow to the SD card. Now i o dont think i have many apps installed (13 that wont allow me to move to the SD card) and yet i seem to be at my limit. Is this normal and is there a way around it. I was expecting to be able to install a lot more than this or is it a limitation of the desire? Currently my phone is showing 25.00MB of space left but i have just had to unistall afew as it was showing 17MB previously.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMy memory is getting very low.I know about all the move to SD methods; I want to try and get rid of some unused data first.I always see posts about clear data and clear cache.Yes, this frees up space but do the apps actually need this data? What is the difference between data and cache? e.g.If I clear data from my contacts app, will all my contacts be deleted? What am I safe to clean up? Is there a way of cleaning up everything at once? Is there an equivalent to defrag and disc clean up? Any advice on getting some memory back without moving apps would be great.
View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday I had 70 Mb of internal memory left, today it's only 55! I haven't installed any apps, and even if I have, not 15 Mb!
So where's the memory being used up? I have seen that if you go into a contact's card, you are able to see his facebook photos in one of the tabs. These are downloaded to the internal memory then?
Does android automatically clear these things?
I have literally had this phone for 5 days and its saying low internal memory. I have no idea where the hell it all went. right now it says 15.7mb internal memory. I have moved most of my apps to sd card aswel. I had an HTC hero with virtually the same apps, and not once did it say low on memory so is my desire faulty ?
