View 4 RepliesI am using 2.3.4 and facing critical memory outage (in my galaxy S plus), reason being most of those applications I install keep on running in the background, when i kill them using some (Task Killer) they automatically kicks off and restart themselves again.
Is there anything like services (the way we have in windows) which i need to stop to restrict them to run automatically and at startups. I am new to Android.
i have samsung galexy grand i9082, when i start it's stop on startup logo, then using vol up+home+power i'm wipe data. then using odin i'm flash with stock rom i9082ODDBNB1. flash done with success but on mobile it's say can't mount
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome backround on this post. I own 2 android devices, a Samsung Galaxy i9003 and since yesterday, a Nexus 7.
I have ditched my Galaxy as a phone and gone to Blackberry due to battery issues, and apps on my Samsung draining the battery from full to empty in the space of a few hours, so I am now very careful about what I install. Since removing almost all the apps (and the SIM card) from the galaxy, I now have a battery live measured in days (including watching video) rather than hours just sitting doing nothing...
I understand the use of apps auto-starting themselves to provide notifications, such as Facebook, Twitter & Accuweather, but even though I do use these apps for what they are, I do not need them running all the time to provide a notification: The added "work" in starting the app to check updates is worth the extra battery life I get, as if I leave things alone to be automatically managed, my battery life is divided by 10... and having to flip the phone in and out of flight mode is a pain... (especially when you forget to activate it in the afternoon after charging and at 3 AM in the morning you have no battery left to call a taxi...)
So, what I would like to understand is this: Where does android store the information on autostarting applications? Even if I use a task killer, some apps will restart later on. Android must have some sort of task scheduler to restart registered apps after a certain amount of time has passed or on certain events.
how Android manages this list - and more importantly, how to change it, and also if there is any way to override the registered permissions of an app once it has been installed?
I want to send a photo to a certain somebody, however, dropbox doesn't allow to send pictures to this certain application and I have no idea how to go into my gallery instead of dropbox.
How do I use my gallery instead of dropbox?
how to define a service that launch automatically at startup and / or when installation without having to go through "activity". I look beautiful everywhere, I do found that the functions and BindService but StartService which requires action outside.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis behaviour started some 2-3 weeks ago. I tried to analize what have I installed and only thing that looked like doing this was Wavesecure so I unistalled it (I had it blocked via autostarts anyway). But it didn't stop.
I'm actually not sure if it really sends any SMS. When I power on the phone and enter the PIN it shows me a "bubble" popup saying "Sending". None of my contacts reported receiving any SMS. I even tried to block "Messaging" from running at startup. Now it stoped but as soon as I start Handcent it shows the "Sedning" again. I tried to find any drafts that I may have left behind but I couldn't find any. Is there any solution to this? Handcent isn't the problem since I had it for almost 2 months without any issues.
I'm running II5, rooted.
I would like to know if there is a way to lock (prevent) an application from starting. And i also would like to know if there is a way to prevent a service(application) from starting at boot of the device.i would like to know because i would like to create an anti-malware app.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am searching an application that allows me to backup the .apk files of both user and system applications like AppWererabbit (http:url...). The problem is that i need this app to be compatible with android versions below 4.0, i.e. android 2.3.X.
I have already installed titanium backup on my phone, but i miss the ability to set an automatic .apk backup when each system/user app is updated. I think that to keep .apk files of older versions of the same app could be usefull.
Has anyone found a good, reliable application that will allow me to stop other applications from starting with the phone? And yes, I've already looked to see if there are options in some of these that prevent this, but no, there's not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use the bluetooth audio in my truck on my drive to and from every work every day with Iheartradio on. Every time I receive a call when I hang up my phone automatically starts the music player and just starts playing songs. It's extremely annoying. I even deleted all my music off the phone hoping this would stop it, and now it just plays ring tones. I've used an app killer, etc. and it still does it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a enable and disable button. When this button is enable, user can launch my application normally. But when the button is in disable state, I don't want to start the application, that is the launcher activity should not start, but the icon for application will be there. When we click on the icon for application to launch it should not start.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo sometimes I'll go into my contacts and notice that some of them have the green ball lit up telling me that they are online in gtalk. Now I am not signed onto gtalk... but yet somehow I see that in my running services that GTalkService is running.
I can only assume that its eating away battery trying to see how is online and not. I certainly don't need this info unless I wish to go online myself... in which case I would actually go into the gtalk app.
ANyways, obviously i've been killing it in the running services, but it just comes back all on its own. ANy idea why or how to stop it?
I rooted my phone to uninstall some bloatware system apps several months ago. Now, I need to perform a factory data reset just to remove the Google account associated with it. Is it safe to do so or will I lose any further system apps or worse, brick my phone? I have the apk's of the system apps that I removed, but for some reason I am not able to restore/install all of them. I used ES File Explorer back then to remove those apps. [My phone is Samsung GT-I5801 running Android 2.2]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had to program some applications that require large amounts of timed tasks to occur. However, I'm afraid to create so many timers because I haven't been able to figure out how they are handled by Java. Is there a problem with starting large quantities of scheduled tasks? If so, what is the better alternative?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the kill app program, but that doesn't work automatically. The best way is to kill the unnecessary apps that load when the phone starts and persistently load themselves at intervals. Is there a way or an apk to download to select the apps that we allow to auto-run? All without rooting, if at all possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a x10 mini pro this week and the same day the phone arrived i updated to 2.1 with SE PC Companion software.
I didnīt noticed if this happens to 1.6 duo to the short usage of this droid version.
Every time i starts the camera application or any application that uses the camera (like Google goggles for example), the phone aparently crashes and suddenly reboot. After the reboot, the camera used to work for the first times but about aprox 30 min. or less that the phone has been rebooted, when i try to start the camera, the phone crashes and restarts again.
Iīve tried to Repair the phone in pc Companion software and the issue continues the same.
I am not sure what is going on here. I posted about my battery going down quickly. I think I found out why. Applications are STARTING without my input. I did Advance Task Killer-killed all Apps-I pick the phone up 5 minutes later and nearly all of my applications are running. I did NOT start them-some of them are like BBC News, Fox News ETC. I do not want them to be running like that. Not sure why they are starting up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan anybody tell me the system startup sequence of Android? When the services are starting? When and how the application packages (.apk) are getting installed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start my phone it seems that every program in the app catalog starts up. Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I tap "Stop All" in System Panel it opens an application or program, sometimes it has opened GoogleEarth, Barcode scanner, mostly it opens the Phone page. How can I avoid this so it goes to home when I stop all? I've tried going to Home before stopping, that doesn't work, when it opened Google Earth I hadn't used that for days.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have this game, which is almost done. It has 1 critical bug. When the app exits and restarts, the phone goes in to super slow mode and eventually restarts. I am at a loss as to how to debug it.
It seems like something is happening to make the program run super slowly. The ND time the program exits it takes a very long time to exit and when the phone returns to the main screen the program is almost totally unresponsive. The phone will eventually restart itself.
I'm able to get a list of installed packages using the package manager, but this includes various system packages . Are there any filters i can apply on this list to only show the apps that would show up when bringing up the application list from the home screen?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to move a few apps (such as Terminal Emulator and OSMonitor) to the /system/app folder. I'm able to get them moved, then chmod them to 644, but upon trying to launch them, they force close. Am I missing something?
View 19 Replies View RelatedOK maybe I'm being paranoid and behind the rest of the world who has already done this: I'm afraid of adding my credit card to my Google Checkout account! My main concern being a super intelligent user of my Android phone who will buy a million apps (potentially!) - my 5 year old son
I used to have a credit card on my account - but that's expired
Knowing that the card had expired, I thought I would test out the buying of an app
I was surprised that it only took a few pages of my clicking yes to buy the app
(The purchase didn't go through - I got an email saying this because my credit card couldn't be charged)
Question: is there a secure pass code system to buy applications?
Like needing to input a code at the last step of buying
(I think this is how iPhone works - I say this not having owned one)
I don't think there is a secure pass system - I've played around with my phone loads and have never come across anything. BUT, EVEN if there was such a pass system: there's still something wrong!
I've bought my phone. Not made any changes. Just started using. I would imagine that's what everyone does - as opposed to buying and then customising and making secure (and maybe optimizing the use of energy so that it doesn't die within a few hours of use)
Buying an application: you can cancel within 24 hours (I think that's the time limit) Over the weekend, I let go of business life and only pick up on Monday - so if my son purchased and installed an application on Friday evening, I wouldn't find out until some time later - because I don't look at my phone OR my emails over the weekend! (+ Say if an application was purchased that I then managed to cancel - I then lose the right to buy again and trial with the right to cancel - a small point, but valid regardless I think)
Would be interested to hear what others say - maybe I'm missing something and maybe I'm using incorrectly.
How can I stop Google from restoring the apps I had installed? I wipe my phone and try to start from scratch, but Google keeps re-installing the apps I had installed. I do not check the option during setup to sync that data and I even went as far as uninstalling them all before I did a wipe but they were still reinstalled! How can I stop this from happening?
