View 1 RepliesI have a problem with my android phone. During the holidays I added my mothers and girlfriends gmail-account to my android phone (android 4.0) so they could check their email at wifi points. Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.
Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!
Okay so i have this really old phone (Samsung Captivate) with a really awesoem clock app. But its a system app and i want to install it on one of my other phones (Galaxy Nexus) as a user app.
They both are NOT running stock ROM. In fact the Cappy is on 4.2.1 and the Nexus on 4.2.2.
Not a big differnece, right? So i presume this would be possible.
Before you ask, i did do research on this and found nothing but moving one user app from one phone to another phone as a user app, etc. Nothing with moving a system app from one phone to user app on another. (My phone is dead at the moment)
Before the update I would bring my phone to work at 100% and with moderate usage, maybe some Pandora/web browsing and it would be nearly dead by the time I brought it home 8-9 hours later. Or even at night lets say it was at 100% when I went to bed, I'd wake up without it plugged in 6-8 hours later and it would be down around 50% battery. Now the difference is almost night and day. In those same time periods I'm coming home from work now with 60-70% battery when I had 10-20% before. And in stand-by the phone hardly uses any battery, at most 1-2% per hour. I am now extremely satisfied with the battery use, it's much improved from the Palm Pre I came from. Also, before the update my phone was power cycling/resetting about every 10-20 mins. I would also experience times of extreme lag when trying to either open multiple apps at once or go through the menus very fast. I even had an an appointment setup at Sprint to have them look at the phone. However, once I applied the update the phone is much faster and I haven't experienced so much as a hiccup. Anyone else experiencing these positive changes?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am a big fan of Android and the Captivate. I've been addicted since day one.
That said, I'm noticing a lot of lag for a "high end" phone with such high specs. I have two news widgets, one weather, and a live wallpaper, and that's it. But I notice sometimes I push the power button and nothing happens for a while. I swipe the lock screen and it freezes for a second. Things take time to happen on this phone. I'm not even running my favorite launcher (Launcher Pro) because when I run it, the wallpaper would freeze for a few seconds at certain times.
When I remove the the widgets and use a static wallpaper, things vastly improve. But then it's as plain and boring as an iPhone!
The widgets I'm running: Battery Indicator, Weather Bug, Engadget, News Buzz.
The wallpaper is the galaxy live wallpaper that comes with the phone.
I mean I customize the phone with a couple of widgets and a live wallpaper and I try to show it to someone, and instead of awing and shocking them with its brilliance, it turns into a crappy PowerPoint slideshow.
I have a Galaxy Nexus (purchased directly from Google) running Jelly Bean. Is there anyway to remotely enable GPS without rooting?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Seekdroid installed on my phone but if GPS is off it doesn't work - so I want to be able to send a text with a keyword that turns on, GPS (so if I lose my phone and someone turned gps off I can turn it back on).
I know this has been patched since 2.3 but is there a way to unpatch it or is there a workaround for this?

I was using my handset as a tracking device. It was working well until one day i decided to change my google password. From next moment onwards, it stopped reporting data. When checked the handset, i saw that it is asking me to enter the new password to login. How can I remotely sign-in my android device?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried a lot of apps for finding a lost phone - Lookout, Where's My Droid, AndroidLost, Prey etc.None of them have the feature to automatically on gps and data remotely [using sms]
Only AndroidLost has this feature, but when I tried it, it didn't work. So, is there any way to turn on data connection and gps remotely, via sms?
Local wifi streaming. I am looking to be able to watch something stored on my pc with my N4 away from home via mobile network. I have an unthrottled data plan, so nothing is overkill.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAndroid 2.2 allow users install the app on SDcard. Developer could set the android:installLocation ="internalOnly" to install the app to internal memory. But I found that the user could also use the "adb install -s " command to install the app on the Sdcard. Are there anyone know how to force the app installed on internal memory? Another question is: are there any API support to find the locatin where the app is installed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so i have a mac, and i am running parallels. I have connected my phone to the virtual machine, and am currently trying to install the 2.1 upgrade. It has been about 30 minutes and it still says 0% at erasing user data. Bu the dots are still moving as if it is working, just nothing has happened otherwise... I have not touched the phone or cord or anything of the like....is this normal? The phone itself just shows the HTC logo with a black background like it does on startup. Im worried. I have all my texts/pictures/apps/contacts backed up already, but should i just let it sit like this overnight or what....
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell actually I wanted to replace/ place a text file in system directory (e.g. /system/etc/) of android phone remotely which means I don't have any physical contact to that phone.
By remotely I mean via downloading or through app. or any other mean ?
- Is it possible?
- Is it necessary to have that phone rooted?
Is there any app or mothered that will allow me to remotely change text displayed on an Android tablet from another android tablet or phone?
I am planning a charity fundraising event and it would be grate if I can hang my Motorola Xoom (running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Been) up on the wall with total amount raised and be able to remotely change / add amounts as people donate with my HTC One X or HP Touchpad running Android 4.0 ICS.
FYI: All devices will be connected to same Wi-Fi network.
I was planning to make my phone (a rooted SGSII Skyrocket on AT&T running GB) accessible over SSH so I could remote-control it in the event thieves (or my parents) took it. how would I know what my phone's external IP is? Any app that can read the phone's external IP and respond with it via, say, text message?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that you would install on Tablet to run as service (and so small footprint), then you access a web page from PC or other device over internet, click a button and that takes screenshot of whatever there is on the Tablet with the server installed, downloads it and displays in a window in the browser?
So it doesn't need to stream or allow for remote control, only take screenshot of remote tablet and view it locally.Since ICS has screenshot feature built in, maybe it wouldn't even require root?
I use an MHL adaptor to connect my Android device on a HDMI screen.
This is really great but it would be perfect if I could use my PC keyboard and PC mouse to control it.
I tried VNC servers and TeamViewer QuickSupport but the main problem is that I don't see the mouse pointer on my device so it's very difficult to use a mouse when you don't see the pointer ^^
Any way to remotely access an Android device from a computer and be able to see this mouse pointer on the device?
I want to use my android device (4G Systems One Tab) to remotely execute a batch file on my PC via WIFI-Connection.
I want to have an Icon on my homescreen and when its clicked the batch-file on the desktop computer is executed. (no feedback or output needed, this is all done by the batch).
I have a EditText in android in which i want the user to enter the text and checks for the condition "BYE"
Code sample..
How can i make user to enter the text? The UI should wait for the text to be entered(something like we have InputStreamReader in java applications).
I use Exchange Server for accessing email, calendar, etc, on my current iPhone. As a result, if my phone is lost or stolen, I can remotely wipe out all the data if I want to. I am about to replace all of our iPhones with EVO's and would like to know if I can do the same thing with those.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a Linux N wireless router, and a desktop with a wifi card running Windows 7 (Home Premium x64). I have a HTC Magic running the 4.2 version of CyanogenMod (Android version 1.6). What I basically, want to do is in the title. I want to have an app that allows me to view my PC screen on my phone. Gmote and similar apps come close, but they are useless as I cannot view my screen. I have looked at a number of "VNC" apps, but for one reason or another it just doesn't work. I have gotten VLC Remote and TunesRemote to work, which means that I am able to connect my phone to the computer, but beside that nothing works. I managed to get TunesRemote to work by opening certain ports in Windows 7. However, I tried to do a similar thing with a number of VNC applications and none of them worked. I have been trying to port forward for the last three years and no matter what I do, it just doesn't work. I am unsure if it is my Windows 7 firewall or the router, but either way nothing seems to be working.
View 34 Replies View RelatedI've been messing around with controlling my computer with my Droid remotely, using Wake On Lan to turn it on over the internet and Torrent-Fu/AndroidVNC to interact with it. The only thing I can't seem to figure out, however, is remote shutdown. Can anyone recommend me an app that will do this? I thought AndroidVNC would have a menu option for it or something, but no such luck.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to be able to control an SGS remotely via a PC, as you can now do with the HTC Desire HD using htcsense.com ? I guess what we are looking for is a way to allow you to get the phone to ring for those times that my wife cant remember where she put it, or to lock it or erase all the data if it gets stolen/lost etc. I presume that this isn't a standard feature on the SGS (unless we have missed it) and so I don't know if there are any apps out there that allow you to do this?

Unrooted droid
Stuck in a fc loop of launcher2 and I cant get to the settings to uninstall it.
I'm creating an Android application to send commands from a smartphone to a pc via Bluetooth. I'm using Phonegap framework (which uses HTML, Javascript and CSS) to develop the app. So far, I can theoretically connect the two devices and data can be exchanged between them. But I couldn't figure out how to launch applications inside the pc and then run them remotely. I've tried to use ActiveX controls, but they are not supported by Phonegap, unlike IE which does support them.
1- Launching the programs.
2- Interacting with them.
