View 1 Repliesso, in an attempt to root my phone, i somehow deleted my OS. I dont kno how i did it nd there are no restore points. Phone won't load at all, i tried the bootloader mode nd tried wiping the cache and data several times but changes nothing....the phone connects to the computer to charge but wont come up as a storage device or a cell phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm loving my Nexus 5, my first Android phone. I use Pattern Lock. I want to disable Pattern Lock when I'm at my home wifi. I did some research and it looks like apps can only turn off Pattern Lock when the phone is rooted. Is this true? I don't want to root my phone and I'd rather not have to enter Pattern Lock a hundred times a day.

First..you will need to unlock the Nexus Ones bootloader (doing this voids the warranty) Guide here:
How To: Root the Nexus One (Updated 01.11.10) | The Unlockr
Disable any kind of adblocker so the how-to video comes up (it loads in the black window at top) For me..I had to disable adblockplus on Firefox.
Then once that is done, you then can save a recovery file to your N1/load your custom rom.
Guide here:
How To: Load a Custom ROM on the Nexus One (Updated 1.11.10) | The Unlockr
You will need your computer to be able to recognize the Nexus One for all this to work..
You can either do it this way (which I believe just installs the USB drivers)
Getting Nexus One ADB/USB Mount working (Driver) - xda-developers
Or you can download the Android SDK

Once installed, I clicked on "download ALL updates" so I would recommend doing that just to be safe.
I've been real happy so far with Stock N1 and universal androot. I love the root apps.
Now that the update is out (2.2.1. frg83) I wanted to update and still have root access on stock. I was not able to update because I had deleted stock apps like amazon, twitter, etc., with titanium. I had to flash a stock ROM and then update to 2.2.1 worked, but no root access.
I even unlocked the bootloader to see if that would give me instant root but it didn't.
How can I go about getting root access on my n1 with 2.2.1.? I want to run a stock ROM and use rooted apps like titanium. Also to get future updates like gingerbread OTA. I do not want a custom ROM like cyanogen. Just stock 2.2.1. with root access. Whats the easiest way to achieve this? I tried installing amon ra, and it still wouldn't give me root access, couldn't install superuser, busybox, etc.
(I'm mainly posting this here for people who don't regularly use XDA-Forums and might not have seen this).

The boot loader must ensure not be enabled and it works well with FRF91, VF, Korean, etc.

I am back to having the Nexus gallery that cannot rotate from port to land mode since I rooted my phone. I used the same .apk that I did when I had an Eris on 2.1v3 and it worked fine on that phone. Is there something special I have to do now that I am on 2.1 root?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm a Nexus One user so already using froyo and of course stoked with it.Given that the phone is already superfast and tethering works, is there any real benefit to root, and / or custom ROMs?Previous to froyo the main motivation for custom rom would have been tethering but thats now moot. I am happy with stock android UI and wouldn't bother for just ui tweaks. I am interested however in possibility of getting better battery life, but am leery of losing the comfortable convenience of OTA stock updates. One of the reasons I picked an N1 at the time was that I knew I'd be getting 2.1 and 2.2 before any other model also side question, when you go custom rom and do a backup before flashing, does restoring the backup literally restore everything (apps, data, settings etc.) completely? i.e. everything remains in exactly the right place, your apps are all 100% intact, gmail/contacts/exchange/sms etc. all there etc.

The device hardware is pretty awesome for the price, but I have problems
installing gApps as they are blocked on the phone.
I have attempted to root using Unlock Root "its supported?" but unsuccessful.
I have Novo 7 Elf ICS 4.0.3, adb is root, but when i try to SU in shell or use Root Check app on the device i got "permission denied", and all root application don't work (root explorer, etc ...).
Superuser is installed and running, but it seems that su doesn't launch Superuser at all. it just wait for 15 s and then "permission denied"
I've used Tasselhof-RootScript.
what i can do?
I've tried change su user/group and Superuser apk with no success.
How do you get rid of the stock apps when you are rooted but are still running the stock ROM 2.2.1? I have tried using Titanium Backup but I when I load it it comes up with a error message "can't gain root access". Check you're rooted (which I am) and are running a ROM with Busy Box (which I'm probably not)" Is Busy Box something that can be added onto the stock ROM or is their another option to remove these apps?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a rooted N1 off of ebay. I plugged my SIM in and everything worked fine all day yesterday. I went to sleep on my bed, with the N1 in my pocket, and when I woke up the phone was indicating that there was no SIM card in the phone. I rebooted the phone, and factory reset it, yet it still indicated that there was no SIM inside the phone. I put my SIM card in my wife's iPhone and the phone worked fine.
1) Could sleeping with it in my pocket have done this?
2) Did I just buy a dud off of Ebay? And if so, how is this possible because it worked all day yesterday?
I received a new N1 after I swapped over by warranty but I don't remember is the camera flash was working on this new one before I put Desire and Cyanogenmod and on both the camera flash doesn't work, installed FlashApp and a couple of other apps that manipulates the flash but it still doesn't turns on.
