Nov 23, 2010I installed the bluetooth file transfer app from the market and it worked fine for a couple of goes, then my 6 yr old got hold of my phone and i am not sure if he altered some sort of setting and it is now not sending out files (it says on the recieving phone, - connection dropped- ) it is also now not connecting to other phones.

I've transferred a few file by ftp from my machine (running linux debian) to the mobile. Everything seemed ok, except that after a while the file disappeared.
I've ftped to the mobile with nautilus. Do I need to "cleanly" close the ftp connection on nautilus to avoid this issue?

Apr 20, 2014I have a samsung galaxy s4 and i need to get some files off it, saved photos, possibly contacts etc. however, i smashed the screen and digitiser pretty good so there is no touch recognition. the phone itself is recognised on my macbook however i stupidly made it to be recognised in photo capture not MTP. How to simply send all my data across directly from my phone to the laptop. I also dont have a spare samsung lying about for the motherboard switch.

Mar 5, 2013I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 player running gingerbread. I'm trying to access files on it from my WinXP box via wifi. This seems like it should be a very common thing to do, but I simply can't find it. If I plug it into a usb port, I can access the drives. Can this be done via wifi?
Again, I want to access the android from the PC. Not the other way around.

Nov 8, 2013I love the native music player that comes stock on android (via google music). I also use a mac, and I'm in Canada (so I can't take full advantage of the google music service, I.E. storing music in the cloud and managing it that way. In order to put music on my android phone i simply select the songs in my itunes and and drag them into the music folder in Android File Transfer. This works, however, there is one problem: the songs aren't organized into folders, which makes it extremely difficult to organize / delete music from my phone when I want to, as the songs are organized as 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 02 02 02 02 02 03 03 03 03 etc. I tried to right click the music folder and say new folder but it won't create that folder in the music folder. I tried moving the songs into that folder then dragging it into the music folder but that won't work.
I really don't want to use double twist, because I have in the past, and I don't really like it all that much. I just want my files to be organized into folders so that when I can delete them later when I want to.

Dec 29, 2013i flashed a rom on my gt-s6802 now it doesnt show my internal sd card, which is 2gb, mounted. because of this i am unable to transfer old working rom onto my sd card and flash it. external sd card works fine when put in but cant flash from it.
i have also tried to flash some stock rom using odin but it enters boot loop.

Jan 27, 2014Using AdAway v2.8 but end up getting stuck on the final step to enabling ad blocking, "Applying hosts file".
If you are trying to enable AdAway but are stuck on "Applying hosts file" as seen in the screenshot below:
1. Download a root explorer. I prefer using Root Explorer because I think its the best file explorer on the android market. If you have problems with purchasing apps you can always use the free version Explorer, or if you prefer using another file explorer that's fine, just make sure it has root access enabled.
2. Once you have a file explorer installed that has root access enabled, navigate to "system/etc" and find the file labeled "hosts" as seen in the screenshot below.
3. Hold down/select the file labeled "hosts" and select "permissions" from the selection as seen in the screenshot below.
4. After selecting permissions a window should have popped up where you can change the permissions of the file as seen in the screenshot below.
5. Change the permissions of the hosts file to "rw-rw-rw" just like in the screenshot below. Hit "OK" to apply the permission changes and close the file explorer completely and head back over to AdAway.
6. Once you have AdAway back open, click "Download files and apply ad blocking" and try again. Depending on your internet connection it shouldn't take very long, but you should see something like this, hit "Yes".
7. After your phone has rebooted, open AdAway again and you should see something like this saying newest hosts files enabled.
AdAway is now working and ad blocking is enabled!

Jul 13, 2010I was chatting with someone on MSN the other day, who was using an older Sony Ericsson mobile (no android). This person could snap pictures with the mobile, and send them directly to me over MSN, and also send other files, like mp3s and such.As far as I know, Meebo and Ebuddy can't do this. They can't even recieve the files. Surely my $500 Desire must be able to do this somehow? Which IM apps are able to do this, while also storing logs?Would it really be that hard for Microsoft to do an android version of MSN, just like it works on a computer? I mean why storing logs on Meebo's server, when they could be stored on your SD ?

We are hiking in and I won't be bringing my clunky large laptop.I have a GPS that will store 5 days of data to synch with a camera, but need to dump the data somewhere every 5 days or it becomes useless from that point on. Is there an app for the Droid that will allow me to connect directly to this device via the USB interface (SIMA GPS, has a USB out/in) that I can transfer and store the data file from the GPS, then dump onto my PC when I return home?

It was a choice between this and the HTC and as the 620 has a keyboard it wins (for me). so got a free 8gb SD HC card, which the phone sees and saves photos etc to. but if I connect the phone via USB to my laptop (Dell Mini 10, XP SP3) it sees the memory card but wont let me access it (says please insert disk). Thats if I have it in mass storage mode. If I turn mass storage off the PC doesnt see the card at all.

Quite honestly I had never used bluetooth before, but since this phone has it I am playing around with it.I tried Astro and ES File explorer, but those work only if I need to transfer files between phones.I then found out Bluetooth File Transfer which lets me share files between my phone and my laptop. That app is very nice, and also by the same developer Dual File Manager.both free from the market.But I supposed file transfer via bluetooth between a laptop or other devices and the phone was a given.Is an extra app absolutely necessary or did I miss something? What other File Managers with bluetooth support do you know of?
