General :: Can't Get Rid Of (download Failed - Insufficient Memory) Status
Sep 30, 2013
i've got a droid razr maxx running jb 4.1.2. at one point i had maxed out the storage space on both the SD card and the ~8gb of internal phone memory, so as i went to make a download i got a little error up top that said the download failed due to insufficient memory. i took care of the problem and completed the download, but ever since then that little !-in-triangle status has been up top on my status bar, always popping up atop the list of alerts that come up when i pull the top menu down. clicking on it sends me to my downloads page, so i've sorted out all of the filenames even remotely similar to that one and deleted them from the downloads page....
i can power off the phone, reboot it.... no matter what that status informing me that the download failed due to insufficient memory won't go away.....

Today I went to install google earth to m phone. It would complete the download and kept telling me I dont have sufficient storage.I'm thinking there is no way I could have used 8 gigs of internal memory already, so I go to phone storage and see that I have 6.38 GB of internal storage left. So how is it that a 22mb download wont download?

For some reason, when I try to download music to my Droid (using iMusic) the download always fails, and I get a message that there's insufficient space. I went in and deleted all my existing music files, which weren't that many to begin with, and I still get the same message. This never happened until my OS got upgraded a few days ago.

I have made a game with just one activity.. I just replace the views when I want to change screen. The game runs fine for a really long time inspite of what ever I do within the game.
But once I close the main game, by calling finish on the only activity in the application, and then when I start again, within the next 30 secs it crashes telling VM budget exceeded..
When I don't have a dispose() or a delete method in JAVA.. how the, am I supposed to remove the objects used in memory.. moreover I have android:launchMode="singleInstance" in my manifest

Any way to lock apps in memory without keeping icon in status bar? I guess I have problem with Lux auto brightness and Keep Screen On. I turned off icon of this apps in bar, and they are stopping working I guess that is because android JB is killing them when there is no icon.

After I upgraded to Android SDK 8 I started seeing geocoding failures in the emulator. However, everything was fine on a device. Now my app fails to gecode on 1.5 and 1.6 devices as well as in the emulator. I can't test on a 2.2 device. Perhaps it works OK there.

What is the preferred way of reusing a MediaPlayer when using resources? My try looks a bit ... too complicated... so maybe I should be happy to see that it didn't work. (I run the Android 1.5 SDK and emulator.)
According to this thread my problem may be a permission problem. http://groups.google.se/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread...
I get the same error. But in my case it only occurs when I use FileDescriptor!?! The use case differs however, because I use a resource stored in the bundle. I have s0.mp3 safely stored in the project /res/raw and it successfully plays when I use SoundPool or MediaPlayer.create. And the log print tells me I referenced the correct file and stay safely in my package.
I'm sure my way of getting the fd out from a package resource is the problem, I didn't find any other way... But why didn't setDataSource throw the exception instead of a printout? And why on earth is the same resource happily played one way but not the other? Seems like a design flaw rather than a security raise. Should I look in the MediaPlayer.create code to see how they get around the problem or can you help me understand how it works?
This is a test code snippet: (from onCreate of a simple Activity)
CODE:...........
And the error:
CODE;..............

Had about 30 megabytes open, and did not check on Fennec size. Install failed, due to lack of space. But, now I show 249 of 261 megs used. I not sure why, if the installed failed, how any space was used. And, did not find any apps installed under Fenenc or Mozilla. Also, when I try to update other apps, the update process starts, but never completes. How can I find what did install and delete it, or regain my free space.

My Android ICS phone has 42MB available (according to Settings->Storage). I am not able to install some new apps (e.g. O2 wifi, size 4MB) or update some existing apps (e.g. TouchPal X, size 19MB) though I have been able to install other small ones (e.g. Terminal Emulator, size 1MB and Cache Clear 5MB). I've tried using Cache Clear to clear the caches. I've tried 'pm set-install-location 2' to default the install location to external storage (currently it's 0 i.e. auto) but it's rejected it with the comment 'killed'. I've moved all the apps (that I'm allowed to move) to the sdcard. I'm not able to root the phone (ZTE V790) as I haven't found any instructions & software that works.

This problem first started after installing Lock bot, ATK and Alevel. Rebooted my phone and was greeted with an X in my signal bar and all home apps and google/android apps FC. I tried to reboot and pull battery even though the battery pull from my understanding has no effect. I've seen other threads say to do a hard reset but I didn't have a back up of my phone. I uninstall the 3 apps listed and the phone booted up fine. The next day I downloaded lock bot and level whith a reboot after each and no problems. I went back to tk because i like the 1x4 task bar it has and all was well.(No i'm not blaming ATK because too many people use it successfully) Yesterday I downloaded Safe neighborhood(My creepy neighbor looks out his window and watches the kids way too much), OS Monitor after uninstalling TK, and the Swype app I found on a thread here. As soon as I rebooted I received that X again. Uninstalled the last three apps and O.K.. I have re-installed OS Monitor and swype and phone reboots fine. I didn't download safe neighborhood again because my neighbor may be a perv but now I know he's not a convicted perv. The thing I'm noticing now is that when trying to use the market the downloads take several minutes to load or don't load at all.

I'm getting this error when I try to install or update almost every APK on my Android. SOME will install or update and I can tell you there's nothing to do with file size. The storages seem to have plenty of free space, apps install smoothly when I factory reset my phone, but after a few days I start getting this annoying error.
I'm running the latest Nightly build from CyanogemMod for LG p720h (Yea, it's not stable and I know I should expect some... erm... bugs). It's Android 4.1.2.
I know the Internal Storage is emulated and have tried many many many fixes I found in this very forum and all over the internet. I'm a game developer so I know a few things about adb shell/logcats but couldn't find/understand anything analizing those during an APK install. I can provide logs, etc.

I've downloaded a few applications so far and even though they were successful, I have a bunch of 'download complete' icons on the top status bar of my home screen. At least, that is what I think they mean. I did not find a description of them in the user manual They look like a little black 'page' with a check-mark in the middle.
Do they have any meaning (other than download complete)? How do they get cleared out? They are filling up my status bar. I bet if I reboot they will go away, but it seems like they should disappear after a short period of time (they don't).

I was trying to install Skype on my phone and got the error "insufficient storage available". I have traced the problem to the bug in Skype that doesn't delete com.skype.raider or something like that. The only way to get rid of this file is to root and delete it from /data/data which is only accessed by rooting. I don't want to root, but I need Skype. I have heard you can temporarily root your phone. Does phone automaticaly go back to stock after you restart?
