Media :: Cannot Download Music - Insufficient Space
May 19, 2010
For some reason, when I try to download music to my Droid (using iMusic) the download always fails, and I get a message that there's insufficient space. I went in and deleted all my existing music files, which weren't that many to begin with, and I still get the same message. This never happened until my OS got upgraded a few days ago.

I'm getting a little desperate about the popup I'm getting every day: insufficient storage available. After trying many things and cleaning up my droid, I've started uninstalling apps, but nothing solves it. I have:
1. Rooted my phone and moved almost all apps to my external SD card using link2sd;
2. Cleaned cache, checked out residual files and other data using ES file explorer and SD maid;
3. Uninstalled many apps but instead I'm getting the warning at 60MB left free whereas I used to only get it at 10MB, it seems that uninstalling apps only makes it worse...
Here's the screenshot of my storage space. Notice that my internal memory is only around 300MB used (now it's even less since I've uninstalled many apps) - so two thirds of it are supposed to be free as it shows...?

My Droid is stock 2.1, rooted with P3 1000 kernel. I have had the issues with stock kernel as well.
Basically, some apps keep telling me I have insufficient space available when I try to update them. The main culprits are Shopper, Space Physics, and NESoid. Sometimes, uninstalling/reinstalling works, but the latest updates of Space Physics and Shopper keep telling me insufficient space. Settings, Memory says I have 91.54 MB of internal space left. Also, uninstalling and doing Titanium restores dont seem to work either...but just for those apps.

I have set the install location of my phone to external. Even though I am installing apps to ad directly, I can't install apps higher than the internal free space left.

I have an eMoto, with Android 4.1.1 Jellybean.
I can download any app under 10mb, but anything over 10mb such as Facebook, gives me this error. I have enough space on my SD card and internal memory. Considering I can download any app under 10mb just fine. I have tried tons of apps and games over 10mb and none work, ONLY ones under 10mb.
Is there a way to update android on my phone, which could possibly eliminate this issue? Because I didn't have this problem on 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on another phone.

How do the makers of music download apps that allow you to get the songs for free get away with it. Is it O.K for them but illegal for us? Wasn't the law changed a while back?

i've got a droid razr maxx running jb 4.1.2. at one point i had maxed out the storage space on both the SD card and the ~8gb of internal phone memory, so as i went to make a download i got a little error up top that said the download failed due to insufficient memory. i took care of the problem and completed the download, but ever since then that little !-in-triangle status has been up top on my status bar, always popping up atop the list of alerts that come up when i pull the top menu down. clicking on it sends me to my downloads page, so i've sorted out all of the filenames even remotely similar to that one and deleted them from the downloads page....
i can power off the phone, reboot it.... no matter what that status informing me that the download failed due to insufficient memory won't go away.....

Sync Music to Nexus One using itunes and Windows Media Player. This process automatically creates a Music folder at the root level of the SD card. Hopefully some of you find this useful, especially coming from using iTunes Read more

How To: Properly Sync Music To Android With MediaMonkey | RickyCadden.com from the site: Mount your phone in USB Mode to your computer, and note the drive letter that it is associated Open this drive in Windows Explorer and create the appropriate folders where you want your music stored. I have one called Music and one called Playlists, but you can do this however you want. Now launch MediaMonkey, and make sure it shows your phones memory card in the left sidebar (separately from the MyComputer option) In MediaMonkey, click on Tools up top, then choose Options and go down to Portable/Audio Devices Uncheck *all* of the plug-ins except d_USBMass1.dll Highlight d_USBMass1.dll and click on the Configure button to the right Choose the Device Configuration tab in the dialog box that popped up In the middle of this tab, youll see a box called Device Name, which is where youll type the name of your phone (mine is NexusOne)Below this, choose the appropriate drive letter from the drop-down Below this, enter a Drive Label (again, mine is NexusOne)Leave the USB Device ID box empty and dont click the Find Device button While you have this dialog box open, you can tinker with the other tabs, if you want. This is where you can specify a folder hierarchy and adjust your sync settings. I would recommend creating a small playlist (~15-20 tracks from various artists/genres/albums) to test with you dont want to do a full sync only to realize you dont like your sync settings. This guide is better because it allows for the use of smart playlists and has much fewer steps than if you use winamp.

After hours of hit and miss using programs like Double Twist etc. I found that the easiest way to sync music to the iHTC Music player is to use Windows Media Player and buy Album Art Grabber to load the album art. Once you have done the initial sync with WMP you can go back and load individual albums simply by dragging them to the sync area. Connect your phone to the PC and unmount the SD card Open WMP and click the sync tab. Click the drive that represents your SD card (mine was H You will be prompted to sync everything for either this session or all sessions. (I always click this session only). Works great and all I will need in the future!

I've got a ton of music on my SD card in my phone, approx. 6.5GB worth on an 8GB card. The problem is, the music players in Android (I've used the default, RockOn and MixZing, though I want to stay with MixZing) only recognize about 80% of the music, in their libraries. The thing is, the music is there! If I browse to the folder and launch the file it will play, but there's no artist/title data, even though all the files are properly tagged (mp3s), plus, it opens in a weird verion of the default music player that will stop playing if it loses focus.
This has been a issue ever since I got this phone. It's a brand new SD card (my previous one, in addition to this problem, had major corruption issues; I originally thought it was the card but I guess that's not the case). Also, I've gone through two different ROMs (one when I first got the phone, and a second that I upgraded to about a month ago), so I don't think that's the issue. It seems to affect random folders (albums) at different times, whenever the library is refreshed, but I can't refresh the library manually (that I've found) to see if it's just not scanning those files, or if it's a more underlying issue. I'm stumped

My phone is telling me that I have low space, but according to my computer, I have well over 3GB on my SD, which leads me to believe that text messages and applications are stored in another part on the phone or on some server. Is there a way to transfer any of these to the SD card or send them to a Gmail account? I can't even read text messages that I already received because of this and I've deleted well over 100 text messages and still can't read them.

I've been using the standard media player on my Nexus one since I've gotten it, only loaded music once using simple copy and paste method on the folder level. Problem is I've gotten new music (alot) and I can no longer fit it all on my nexus one.
Before someone mentions it, I've tried using DoubleTwist and I'm not a fan, I've had issues with slow syncing, duplicates, and as a music manager I can't determine the total size of the media I want to sync, can't choose more than all or selected playlists, no artist selections, I can't edit the file tags within the application, and some music isn't removed when I try to remove it from my library (not move to trash)... Overall I'm very unsatisfied.
Needless to say I'm looking for something else to use, something that allows me to rate my music both on the desktop and on my nexus one...and that those ratings actually sync on... this will allow me to determine what I Listen to and thus only transfer that over to my N1.

The standard Samsung music player crashes whenever I select 'artists'. The program just boots me to the desktop and I get a message in the task bar stating 'Not Enough Space in Music Database'. I have about 20GB of music stored between the internal and external cards. Both cards have several GB free. The program works perfectly when I choose All, Playlists or Albums. It just doesn't like Artists.

I've just downloaded my mp3 library to the phone (using the mass storage usb connection method) and when I try to select "artists" as the way to select music to play I get this error "Not enough space in the Music database" in the header of the phone and the player shuts down. Any thoughts on what I can do about this? There's 9.5 GB of space on the internal sd card and 2.2 GB of space free on the external 16 GB card.

I just got a free HTC Magic at the Google I/O conference and am liking it so far. I'm trying to set it up as a day-to-day replacement for my iPod, and right now I'm using BeyondPod for podcasts and have tried several different music players. My plan was to keep the two separate - Podcast software for podcasts and a music player for music. There's just one problem that is driving me nuts: I can't figure out how to keep "non-music" MP3s (namely, podcasts) out of the music library. The music players all seem to scan for every audio file on my SD card, and can't be forced to use just the Music folder. So I end up with a music library littered with podcasts.
I'd put them in separate playlists, but the files are constantly changing, and it wouldn't be worth trying to keep up with them. Am I missing something? I've googled the heck out of this and can't seem to find anyone else who's bothered by this. Is there any way to have a music player only play files from a certain folder?

I'm new to the forum and wanted to see if somebody could help me out. I recently got a Motorola Droid and I really like it. I'm going to be traveling this week and wanted to put some movies on it. I have a bunch of Blu-Ray movies that come with free digital downloads. I downloaded a few movies in both formats that are available, mp4 and wma. Neither format will play on the droid, I tried viewing in both the gallery and some video playback apps.
