I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 (self-built) on my Samsung I9300 Int., but I assume the question applies to every android version (I'm new to android development and flashing custom firmwares to my phone, but I have thorough experience with other embedded devices and gnu/linux):
I'm currently modifying a system apk (specifically LockClock.apk), which comes with CM10.1. From time to time, I "adb push" a modified version of the apk to my /system/app. (When the app works), it works without problems until the phone is restartet. After the reboot, the application does no longer appear to be installed (though the modified apk is still present in /system/app). I have to "adb push" the apk again, to make it work again. Is there a way to make the app permanently installed after an "adb push"?
I am a budding developer in Android platform..while I have developed some small tools on Android, the project which I am on now demands a unique requirement.. I want to keep the phone running my application always on and must boot up automatically when a charger cable is plugged in. I know this question has been asked many times and there are many threads for this. But to no real answers..
I had managed to do the auto boot on power insert by editing a script called "battery-charging" in /system/bin in a version of Android I used earlier.
I managed to get the same effect in another device (a Samsung phone) by editing /system/bin/chargemon
Forum rule says I cannot post the external link ... this is how I did achieve what I wanted earlier...
Code:
echo "echo skipping chargemon" > chargemon.script
adb pull /system/bin/chargemon chargemon.backup
adb push chargemon.script /sqlite_stmt_journals
adb shell
$ cd /sqlite_stmt_journals
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
# cat chargemon.script > /system/bin/chargemon
# chmod 755 /system/bin/chargemon
# reboot -p
'
But I have been handed over a phone running Android 2.2.1 where I could not find both "chargemon" or any file regarding battery charging status in the /system/bin or in any other path.
I just have to edit the script which executes the battery charging animation graphics when the phone is switched off but is powered up to allow the phone to reboot.
which file to edit to make the phone reboot instead of just showing battery being charged..
Seems there might be a trend towards phones coming with non-removeable batteries.
Is there a definite way of rebooting one of these phones if it crashes or freezes on the odd occasion?
How do I do a system reboot for my Droid Eris? People cant hear me on the other line so I was told to reboot, but I don't know how.

Problem: I have two batteries, default one and Mugen one. Every time I change a battery the phone system time resets.
What I have tried to do: Set "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone" on - No luck. Restar after set on -
Install different NTP server synchronizing app. I am in china, so it could not connect to the server and I get error every time, even after change to chinese NTP server - Still no luck...
Install different GPS synchonizing app, sometimes it work sometimes not and it takes too long to synchronize.
I got the upgrade to Froyo yesterday AM.Twice during the day it unlocked and I had a msg "Loading" while my icons loaded. Then this morning it did the same thing, but it didn't have the name of the program under the icon, plus my buttons for "Phone" weren't there. So I pulled the battery and it was back to normal.I've never really had these issues prior to the upgrade, but if rebooting is a part of the process then I'm curious if there is a way to reboot without having to pull off the case, separate the back door and pull the battery out. Anyone know?

Often at night before I go to bed I'll plug it in to the charger, and the 'charging' icon doesn't appear. I left it overnight, and sure enough, it didn't charge.
I powered off, rebooted, and it is now showing the 'charging' icon. This has happened before.
So I was out on my motorcycle and had about 60% battery left on my Vibrant.Figuring I wasn't going to need the phone for a few hours I powered the phone off, calling myself saving battery. When I turned the phone back on I was totally surprised that the battery was down to 38% immediately following powering up.This happens every time I power the phone down-I lose about 20% consistently. It also happens when google maps shits itself and either freezes the phone (necessitating a battery pull reset) or causes a spontaneous reboot. Is this normal? I've had my phone for a bit over two weeks (so out of my remorse period) and my besides this my battery works and lasts rather well, considering how much this phone has going on.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to show the Battery Info activity in my app, which shows things such as the exact level, battery health, etc.I'm not sure how I can get it, though a few applications such as Power Manager, Any Cut, etc. show this screen as well. I found in the source code of Settings this intent in a file called testing_settings.xml,But I don't know how to use it. I would guess from the fact that Any Cut has a list of activities, that a list of said activities exists somewhere, and therefore an easy way to access them exists, but I haven't found it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new battery for my Droid, and the battery came 60% charged. So I did the battery drain until it powered off. I then put it on the dock to do a full charge, and now the phone is in a constant boot loop. It reboots up to the home screen and mounts the SD card. It stays on for about 5 seconds after mounting the card, and then reboots. I tried just plugging it into the charger w/o the dock, and still does the same thing. I have also tried pulling the battery, putting it back in and charge. Same. I have even tried doing a power down from the home screen within the 5-10 seconds the home screen stays on, but no luck. It turns off before it completes the shutdown and reboots again.

Are there any decent system/battery monitors out there? Preferably ones that don't take up so much memory and that don't drain the battery.
Also, are there any apps that would let me know what apps use up the most power and memory?
What is wrong with my phone?

View 2 Replies View Relatedon average what % battery is your android system using. mine usually uses from 20%-60%. On average its 40%, pretty much after normal use at any given time mine is at 40%. seem normal or a bit high? i have system panel and no app seems to be hogging or anything like that.edit: after some tweaks my android system is anywhere from 10%-40% tops.

View 20 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone notice that 'Android System' battery usage is very high?
I ran a test where i displayed just a photo
Battery Indicator
3G Watchdog
Photos
Advanced Task Killer Free
within 20 minutes the results on the battery are the following:
Android System: 63%
Display: 24%
Cell standby 13%
Any thoughts on to what might be causing Android System to be so high, only them programs are running. Does this happen to your system? I notice with web browsing its about the same usage as well, with wifi and internet taking up small amounts.
I'm having problems with my Droid Incredible battery not lasting a full day; even when I don't think I'm doing a lot. Maybe its the K9 Mail applications or my stock monitor, or some other application that is using a lot of power.
I got the System Panel application to help, but it doesn't see to give me a view of what application is using up the power.
I just wanted to know if that was normal if I'm not really using my phone. I read on another post that the Android system shouldn't be using that much battery or am I wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Android phone ever (long time Apple fanboy), and it is great. Except one thing: Battery life. It SUCKS (quite literally)
"Android System" is using 91% battery. I've disabled location services, backup and so forth, but the problem persists. I've tried flashing various ROMs, including stock sense, stock GE and Android Revolution HD 21. The problem is there with all of them.
Been having problems lately with my battery performance. im finding that the battery is being used by the android system (96%) even when the phone is on standby through the night. before it used to change to phone idle and cell standby having a high percentage with the android system staying very low, but now the battery is being eaten alive by the android system and the battery is draining rapidly.. i used to get 2 days out of my battery before it needed charging but now im lucky to get just over a day..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my droid x about 2 days ago, and I've gone through about 2 full cycles. So far I haven't been able to squeeze more than 6 hrs of use on it, so I installed spare parts to see if the GPS bug was affecting it.
Going through some usage information, I found that the "Android System" sensor usage was huge! Since 1hr 29min unplugged the Sensor has been on for 1hr 36min...weird.
Checking the total time since boot the sensor has been on 19 hrs. I have autobrightness turned off and I haven't come across any other posts that explain what uses the sensor.
How does one use Autokiller correctly? I want to make sure I'm optimizing my system to get even more battery than I am. Typically I pull over 24 hours on a charge. Want to see if I can get over two days. Thanks in advance Nitsuj17 and Saps =P
