I'm searching for android phones that can use video out to the tv for a research project. I'm considering the HTC Touch Pro.
Is there anything I have to do specifically to get the video out to work (for displaying my app on the tv)? or will the phone just display a running app on the tv without extra work?

This might be a dumb question but how can I copy or move a contact that is from my work email over to my gmail account on my phone? I could have sworn I did this before but now don't see how to do it. I have a samsung moment with the 2.1 update. I searched here and on the web and didn't see anything.

I'm trying to get an html5 demo page working on Android 2.1, have tried both droid and nexus one with 2.1 but they only display the poster image, and do not play the video. Pressing on the video does not do anything. Resolved with the onclick handler on the video tag. Is it possible to use html5 video in the android 2.1 browser at this time? My demo page is working for both the iphone and the ipad.
The mp4 video: avc1, 29.97 fps, 380 kbps, 480 x 370
Audio: mp4a, 44 kHz, 64 kbps
Here's how the page is written:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html><head><title>html5 test</title></head><body>
<video id="movie" width="480" height="370" poster="http://example.com/still.jpg" controls>
<source src="http://example.com/video.mp4" type="video/mp4">
Your browser does not support html5 video.
</video>
</body></html>

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting subtitles to work in any video player on Android so far.
I though that I may be lucky after converting an MKV with embedded subs to an MP4 and playing in Meridian with no luck. After having a look over the Meridian FAQ/Tutorial I can see they are supported, though only as an additional SRT. Having a had a look around it appears extracting SRTs from MKV is not nearly as easy as you'd think (I've so far been unsuccessful) so I thought I'd see if anyone else has had more luck.

I know Android uses two email clients but I assume the Gmail client has the best integration and functionality (please correct me if I'm wrong). My school uses an email system that's based off of Gmail with my address being example@fiu.edu. The calendar is also the same. Here's a link of what the log-in looks like:
https://www.google.com/a/fiu.edu/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&co ntinue=https://mail.google.com/a/fiu.edu/&bsv=zpwhtygjntrz&ss=1<mpl=default<mplcache=2& hl=en
Would this work seamlessly with the stock Android Gmail client?

Is there any information on extending the GMail application? Or better yet, I for one am relatively irritated that I can't email or upload non-picture/video files that I might have on my SD card, so I'd like to create a provider of some sort to enable the ability to upload or email any arbitrary file. Any ideas?

My friend sent me a video that she recorded using her iPhone via email. I couldn't open the attachment through the stock gmail app. I went on the browser to access the desktop version of gmail and when I went to download the video a message came up saying I didn't have a program to march the video. Is there an app out there so that I can view videos on my evo sent through email....especially watch videos from iPhone users. Let me know.

I've seen a LOT of apps crashing since I got this phone. In the 2 years I had my blackberry, I never saw a program crash. It seems to be common place with android. A few of my apps crash at random, but lately, my gmail app is crashing consistently, even when I'm not using it. This is unacceptable; it's a google phone for crying out loud! It just crashed about 15 times in a row just 5 minutes ago no joke. Crash...force close...crash...force close.Then it says "Err1" on top of the gmail app icon.

On a Nexus One (for example), the camera application is able to capture H.264 video at 720x480 (the "High" quality setting). However, when using the MediaRecorder API, it always seems to capture at a fixed frame size of 320x240.
I would expect the setVideoSize() method to control the frame size (as in the prepare fragment below), but it appears to have no effect (using Froyo 2.2 Android SDK).code...
Discussions on the android developers list seem to indicate this is a long standing issue. Can anyone advise how the frame size can be controlled, or if it is possible at all with the current API?

I'm not on the 2.2 update yet, but some videos I've recorded don't have a thumbnail in the gallery, nor do they play back. I've copied them onto my computer, they have the correct file size but I think something has been corrupted when saving the videos on the phone. Any idea if there is an app that could fix the issue?

Yes I did read all the other posts about this. None of those suggestions made a difference.So to test I sent myself an email and had the GMAIL app open on the ERIS.It sometimes give me a conversation notice but does not actually download the email to the app for a long time. And then only if I force a refresh.I have full 3G where I am so that can't be it. Also, I do no have a task killer and I keep mobile on all the time.The ERIS doeseverything else very well with the exception of e-mail.

This is my first andorid phone and as such i am a complete noob so please forgive my silly questions. My current issue is i am trying to use both gmail and my work email in one button(the email accounts stock app ALMOST does this but it will not allow me to use gmail labels which i must have!). Even if i could live without the labels functionality it seems the gmail app is not only my gmail email but myh contacts/calender sync and perhaps even my app ordering account? Does anyone have any ideas for combining my work email with my gmail app while not losing any gmail functionality as well as garenteeing i dont doubel download/sync with the current gmail stock app?
I also have the GPS issue that most people are haveing... are there really people who do NOT have this issue? or are those without the issue not checking? It would seem that if some people dont have this issue it must be a hardware issue? I am quite concerned with this issue... i ave tried the fixes and some work untill i reboot a couple times then i return to an unsable state(settings have not changed)

I have read through many similar stories on here, but none are resolved. I restored an old backup from rom manager and now my gmail doesn't work properly. It wont send mail, it won't properly archive mail, the notifications don't work, and on. Did this happen because I restored an old version? Does gmail update itself or can I push a new update?

I tried to send a video using gmail, I couldn't do it, it said file to big or something like that. It was only like 20 seconds long. I really like this phone but it seems to be really limited when it comes to MMS or sending video's whether its email or MMS. My sister has verizon (and I do to) when she sends me text or MMS and adds a smiley face it modifies the msg and she gets a msg back saying my phone dont support enhanced msg. wtf? My razr really did better when it came to mms. There has to be something not adjusted right on this phone.

Just have a new htc desire on orange.I can't believe it doesn't even have the option to use the LED light when using the videocam.This is such a great feature when you are out in a bar, pub, or club or just outside at night. I have an old sony and nokia and they both have the feature and I have loads of great vids because of it.I have spent hours searching for apps that might make the LED light next to the camera work but there doesn't seem to be one. This means if you are using the phone as a light you have to use the screen like a numpty and not the powerful led. Should have gone for the xperia as my friend has it and it has this feature.

I update my Desire to 2.2 last week and was excited to try out 720p video recording. I slid out the panel on the screen and chose video, it switches to video but then the camera app just quits and I can't use the video camera. This happens every time I switch to video and I've tried turning my phone off and on again many times and it hasn't fixed the issue. I've searched on line and no one seems to be having this issue. Any ideas?

the gmail app on the DINC does not support video and pic sharing? m I missing something here. When you take a vid and go to share, gmail comes up as one of your options. If you proceed down this route, you don't get an error, but the vid never gets attached and delivered. The only way to do this is through the HTC Mail app. On this same note, another gripe I have is why Android lists the sharing options if you can't actually use them to share. You can't share a video over Handcent/Messaging Apps...so why show them as options for sharing? You can't upload to facebook directly, so why list them as an option. Seems like a glaring issue that will confuse newbies (my wife) and may ultimately affect their adoption of the platform. I'm all for the customization and openness of Android, but they need to work out these little quirks if they want to capture any respectable market share.

My issue is that i can NOT get any videos from my gmail to play at all. Either while using Video Player or Movies when I am first asked to pick one. I pick both after one doesnt work and I can NOT get any video to play at all...I believe that this is due to 2.2 .. i have not flashed back to 2.1 to find out if that is true but eversince 2.2 video playback from gmail has shut down. even if i save the vids and play from gallery.. i have a blank spot where the video should be..
