Jan 24, 2010Is anyone aware of an app that will allow you to connect to the internet through a USB dongle attached to the phone? My reasons for wanting to do this are that in general Internet access is expensive here in SA and I am on a contract phone with no data but I do have a top up option, which gives me 100MB/month for an equivalent of 6.50/month! But I also have a USB dongle on PAY which I use for normal internet access on my computer, this costs me about 30.00 for 2GB of data, it would be quite handy if I could use the USB dongle for my phone whilst I am at home. I do not have a wireless router at home.

Apr 5, 2014 It's a Motorola Xoom running Android 4.1.2. The issue it's having is that even though the tablet is connected to the internet none of the apps (play store, YouTube, etc) will connect. They all say 'no internet connection'. The only way I know the tablet is actually connected to Wi-Fi is that the internet browser still works. This might be unrelated to the issue but every single website I go to it gives me the warning 'Security warning: There are problems with the security certificate for this site'. Sometimes I will have to hit cancel 10 times before the warning goes away.
this is something I can fix without doing a complete reset because there are pictures and stuff I don't want to lose. Since I can't connect to google play I can't back them up to am app like dropbox either.

This has also occurred in the Youtube app. I have tried changing my time manually, rebooting my device, and uninstalling updates, to no avail. I am currently unlocked and rooted, and using TWRP as my recovery.

Aug 19, 2013I got Ubislate 7C+ in last month and since then I am unable to connect any 3G USB dongle to my tablet. I have tested same dongle on other Ubislate 7C+ of my friend (which he got 3 months back) and it worked perfectly but not even detecting the dongle on my tablet.
Alcatel onetouch X230S is the dongle which is working on my friend's Ubislate 7C+ and note mine. Photon 3G is not working on both of the tablets even though it's supported according to list of supported 3g dongles.

Jun 13, 2012I have a MK802 Android PC dongle on its way. It has no on/off switch so powers up when it is given juice and is shut down by pulling the cable. This is the same as pulling the battery and is a pretty violent way of doing it.
Is there an app available that does a gentle shutdown and allows Android to clean up before it goes? BTW, apparently the device comes already rooted.

I think one or two gills, pressing from above onto the USB-Port, constructed into the case, would be enough to solve the problem. So the leverage-forces wouldn´t take effekt to the solder-spots of the USB-Port, but to the (new constructed) gills and the case of the X10.

May 21, 2014I just bought an OTG cable with micro usb male. I tried looking for one with a galaxy tab male connector so that I could use it on my tab 2, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. So I decided to buy the otg cable AND a data cable of the tab. So I'm wondering what would happen if i cut them both open then connect them to each other. Would it work?
