I tried getting my new HTC Magic to work with my Tom Tom Sat Nav, the basics worked fine but then I got this message. Your phone needs to support Wireless Data Connection (Dun) Capabilities to use TomTom Plus Services. Can this be done soon? I need to use those services, would it be an update type download or a separate download? or if there is already a setting please let me know asap

My computer does not have a wireless card and I am wondering how do you turn your droid to do this?
I don't want to use my data plan to connect to the internet, I want my droid to act as a wireless card over wifi to receive the fios from the wireless router.
Anyone know how this can be done?
(I'm currently using PDAnet using my dataplan)
I purchased my Experia in Saudi Arabia, and i came without the Android Market application, can i down load it to my phone via wireless connection in Saudi, or must i wait until i am back in South Africa to do this.

I sometimes have an issue:
- when I click the WiFi icon on status bar to activate wireless connection it partially gets green and stays locked for about 1-2 minutes. This happens every 6 or 7 attempts to connect using wireless.

I have tried a lot of apps for finding a lost phone - Lookout, Where's My Droid, AndroidLost, Prey etc.None of them have the feature to automatically on gps and data remotely [using sms]
Only AndroidLost has this feature, but when I tried it, it didn't work. So, is there any way to turn on data connection and gps remotely, via sms?
I do know that downloading on Wi-Fi is faster than using data (or so I've read). My question is if I start a download using data connection then turn Wi-Fi on will the download see the Wi-Fi and jump on that to speed up our do I have to start on Wi-Fi for it to use Wi-Fi?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted Evo 4G currently running the latest Fresh. Also running the current Wireless Tether App 2.0.5 pre 9. I am always having a problem of the client computer just dropping connection and no longer can find the broadcasting signal. Seems like the phone just stops broadcasting randomly. Only way to fix it is to disable and then enable the wireless tethering again. This happens about every 10-15 minutes, on any computer I try. Work, home, shop, everywhere. I also tried wiping the phone completely and re-installing the app. Is there a more reliable wireless tether app out there?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy is my phone constantly giving this vocal notification out? It is constantly searching for a signal? It happens about once an hour, and I'm guessing it's the source of my battery drain issues the last day or 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust out of the blue tonight I lost my 3G. I still get 4 full bars on the signal indicator, but there is no 3G icon and I can only surf using my local wireless connection. Very strange because I was in the middle of downloading a market app when it just disappeared. Can the Verizon towers go out occasionally causing me to lose 3G or do you think something happened to my phone in some way?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having 4G lag issues since day 1 with my EVO. I made a thread about it, and have updated it as needed.
I decided to make a video detailing my 4G lag issues, and during the filming of that video, my 4G would not turn on using the Wireless Settings page. I had to use the toggle to make it turn on. I shrugged this error off as just a bug, and moved on with life.
However, I've also been planning a factory reset for some time, and finally did it Saturday. Since then, I've tried several times to turn on 4G from the Settings page, and each time, it fails.
If I go to the SwitchPro widget, and toggle 4G there, it works just fine. I can turn it OFF just fine from the Settings screen, but I can't enable it. If I enable it with the toggle, and then disable it...I can immediately go back in and re-enable it from the Settings screen. It's almost like the toggle shows the Settings screen the right way to do it...and the Settings screen is now able to turn on 4G. After a few minutes of being able to turn on 4G, it stops, and is unable to. It's very inconsistent.
So before and after my factory reset, my EVO has shown difficulty in enabling 4G from the Settings screen. Does this sound like grounds for a repair/replacement ticket from Sprint?
I was wondering if I can use the Desire as a wireless adapter for a PC. I mean to connect it through USB so the PC will detect it as a wireless adapter, just like a USB wifi adapter. I'm not talking about tethering and sharing the 3G internet with the PC.
Well, I would like to know if it's possible on any Android device in general, or at least to know if it's just impossible with Android OS.
Is it possible (is there an app) to use my desire as a wireless repeater. So my phone connects to the router and my computer connects to the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy understanding is that keeping the Wifi on when no network is available drains the battery. So, I try not to leave it on unless I need to. I am looking for a way to turn the wireless on automatically when my phone is plugged in. Is there a way to do this?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that when they turn WiFi on through the widget (either android or motorola one) it doesn't always actually turn on wireless?
I usually have to go to WiFi settings and then once I do that it connects to my router. This will keep happening until I restart the phone and then the widget will work another 1-2 times and then I'll have to go into the settings menu until I restart again.
Unrelated: Has anyone else had their 3G dropout today or is it just me? I'm in the northeast.
I would like to use an old deactivated phone as a wireless camera, not over WiFi, but something like AdHoc(I think).
Where my deactivated (old) phone can broadcast a wifi network that my other phone will be able to connect and view the cam's video.
Something like: Old Phone(No internet/service) makes a WiFi AP that Another Phone can connect to and view the video the Old Phone is streaming.
I've found tons of IP cams which use an existing wireless network, but I want the old phone to be used as the wireless router.
I've just gotten a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to go with my S3 and now that I have more than one device floating around my house, I'm wondering if there is a better way to share files and data among them than to hook each to my computer separately and then transferring stuff around by USB. I'm looking into Kies, but in the past, I've never been able to get it to work correctly, so I'm not sure if this will work any better on this attempt. Am I on the right path, or is there something different / better than Kies that I could use to have all three devices available on the network for sharing?
I guess I should probably ask if what I want is even possible... I'd really like an always on type of networking where as long as the device is online, I can push data back and forth (ie if my tablet is at home sleeping, and there is a file I want to get from it, I can access it from my phone and vis versa). In addition to that, I'd like a similar connection to exist between my two mobile devices and my computer so I can transfer files back and forth with the computer without having to take up desk space by connecting the device with USB.
I have been searching but... Cant find a simple explanation anywhere?

View 12 Replies View Relatedwhat are the settings do you have to change in order to completely stop any data connection? I have an unlimited data plan so I don't care now that there is a lot of apps using my connection, but going overseas soon, the roaming charges are really expensive. I found some settings (like sync) that I can configure not to use data connection but I am not sure if these are all.
