Android : When Click On GDE And Click The Home Button - Switches Back To Stock Home Screen
Dec 19, 2009When I DL'd the GDE app, I accidentally set my stock droid "HOME" screen as the default screen when the popup box came up asking me to choose between stock Home and GDE. Now when I click on GDE and click the home button, it switches back to the stock Home screen. How to I switch the settings now to set the GDE app as the new home screen?

Jun 6, 2010Right now, when I press the button on my headphones, the stock music app plays/pauses. Double-click dials voicemail, rather than skipping to the next song. Is there any way to fix this? I tried TuneWiki, which is nice, but it crashed on me a couple of times. It behaves properly, but I'd obviously like it to keep playing.I realize I might be nit-picking with this one, but I screwed up my shoulder and will be in a sling riding the metro to work tomorrow. I'd like to keep the music playing and be able to change tracks using my one good hand, especially since it's likely that I'll be standing up.

Feb 21, 2012Is there any way to make the browser or any browser to be able to double click a web page. My work website requires double click but double tapping obviously changes the focus in android. Yes, the work website is a joke but that's besides the point.
Someone was able to write a program for iphone to do this but they won't for android. They are fanbois so no dice.
Android :: Click To Expand List -and- Click On A Button?
May 31, 2010I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView).In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

Well I've had alot of people messaging me about converters for music, video, photos etc and I decided to just post up a thread for people to ask questions if they need to. Anyways, the best converter that I could reccomend, HANDS DOWN for any needs whether they be for your phone or not is the SUPERC converter which can be found here
With it you can convert virtually any media type into any other media type. For starters here are some steps...
1. Drag your file to be converted into the que.
2. Double click on it to bring up the detailed info.
3. Select the output you want from the drag down menu at the top left
4. Match up the info for the video and audio (if applicable) to the details you brought up about the clip. Yes this is a bit techy, but its really simple, just read and click on the buttons. If your framerate or bitrate doesnt match up, always pick the lower one. I.E: If you have a framrate of 96, and the options are 108 and 90, always pick the lowest of the two.
5. Just click convert! and wait until it gives you an output file size!
Yes it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but its great to be able to convert anything into, well, anything. I use it for all my converting needs, and even if your not a techy person, even if you dont know what a bitrate is (shame on you! haha jk) its still a great program which is easy to use, whether you have circuit boards instead of brains or not.

The way the company sets up my work calender is when I want to see what the schedule is I have to double click to open it. On a regular browser double clicking is no problem but on the EVO all it does is zoom in.

Jul 16, 2010I just got my first android phone, the droid x yesterday. Loving it so far but I've got a minor issue that drives me insane (even though it really is a non issue). I've got the volume keys on the right, and then the home and back keys at the bottom front. Whenever I click home or back, they do the home and back function, but also do volume up and volume down with every click. Its painfully annoying, because it vibrates and pops up the volume window over the top of everything, every time. And obviously, the home and back keys are two of the most clicked buttons on the phone, so its constantly going up n down. I think this also adds to battery drainage as its double functioning/working twice as much. Does anyone know of a way to disable the home lkey and back key from controlling my volume as well?

Mar 2, 2012Is there a possible way to completely terminate app on home button press? Because everytime my friends use my phone they didn't realize there is a back button.. So they just presses the home button like they were using idevices.. This would hog the memory with the running apps and i have to constantly close them everytime they finish playing.. ICS does have this feature but im running GB atm..

May 3, 2012I recently purchased a used Le Pan 970 that was running Beta 4 of the CM7 Gingerbread. I was having trouble maintaining a Wifi connection so I upgraded to the Beta 5 version of CM7. It fixed my Wifi problem but now I have a new problem.
After the install the large Home button on the side of the tablet doesn't work anymore. The other large buttons (back, search and menu) still work. The smaller home button on the bottom still works. All buttons used to work before Beta 5 was installed.
Is this part of the Beta 5 update or have I accidentally turned off a setting somewhere?
I believe this should be in the development thread but I don't have the post count to participate over there. Searching wasn't of much assistance as Beta 5 has only been out for a few weeks.

Android :: How To Control Activity Flow - Back Button Versus Home Button
Sep 2, 2010I have 3 activities in my app: Activity1 -> Activity2 -> Activity3. Inside Activity3, if the user presses Back, I would like to return to Activity2. In Activity3's onPause event, I added a finish() statement. That's probably not even necessary, but I wanted to make sure this Activity gets cleaned up. This works fine.
However, while in Activity3, if the user presses Home or starts a new app (through notification bar or some other means), I want both Activity3 and Activity2 to finish. If the user returns to this app, he should resume with Activity1.
I have figured out how to do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to handle both cases, if it's even possible. Can I trap the "Back" button in Activity3 and send a message back to Activity2 telling it not to finish()? It seems like the Activities follow the same lifecycle flow (Pause, Stop) regardless of what you do to send them to the background. Just to answer the question of why I want this behavior, imagine that Activity1 is a login screen, Activity2 is a selection screen, and Activity3 is a content screen. If I press Back from the content page, I want to be able to make a new selection. If I exit via any other means (Home, notification bar), I want the user to be "logged out".
