I have a strange problem with Galaxy S, can somebody please check if they do experience the same thing.
My battery is low (about 13%), I'm connecting SGS through WiFi to the Interent. Any time the device is downloading something: web page, image from Picasa, etc. on the screen appears flickering tiny lines, like magnitic distortion. Once page fully loaded screen become nice and clear. If I plug power, USB, the screen and download happens normally. I tried different setting (brightness of screen, vibration on/off, stay away from electronic devices)
I just used a clockwork mod to root my Showcase(on revol wireless), and that part worked fine. However, I did a back up and flashed a cyanogen mod (version 7 something I think), that was ported to my phone. However, it was buggy when I got in and the sms would only send blank messages and the data was iffy. I went to restore my phone to the backup, and at first it went through and rebooted. During the boot, it just paused on the samsung logo, and it stayed that way for over 15 minutes. When I went to go back to the recovery mode, it received errors mounting the cache and what not. Now it refuses to boot at all and gives me the phone connected to the pc with the triangle and exclamation mark in the middle. It will still show the downloading mode, but even when I tried a different pda file in odin, it won't actually do anything. What can I do to try to get my phone working again?

I especially notice it with smooth gray scale gradients, soft focus wallpapers, or solid color mid tones. Also, some color banding in grey mid tones... looks like faintly alternating horizontal lines of green and magenta. I work in digital imaging professionally, so I really notice such things. Can't decide if I'm being overly critical, or if my phone has an issue.
View 17 Replies View RelatedMy device is a local re-branded and enhanced Xolo a500s/it's like a karbon a5 a think. After successfully updated my device via OTA and after my device rebooted. My screen started to flicker randomly. My phone is not rooted and im still using the official stock rom. I found a temporarily solution by doing a Factory Reset, the flickering would be gone but it will come back after my phone screen goes off and on.
I suspect that the new lockscreen bloatware system app that comes with the update causes this, I can't disable it(googled already, and the only way to freeze/remove it is to root.) I can't root my device for something like a hunch. I'm waiting for a software update that would fix my device's touchscreen collide bug.

View 46 Replies View RelatedThis version of Karmic (9.10) Ubuntu was made for desktops. It is not a mobile OS and has no phone/text apps. It runs as a completely separate OS that displays on your phone. While this OS does run "natively", you can only see the lxde gui through a VNC viewer. The filesystem file stays on your sd card. Installing with the install script does not fully install the OS to your phone, but rather allows you to boot and run with commands from /system/bin instead of the ones placed in /sdcard/ubuntu Any changes made can be reversed by typing rm -rf /sdcard/ubuntu in a shell/terminal or deleting that folder from root explorer/astro. While this can do no harm to your phone whatsoever, it can freeze it and hog the cpu completely. I can guarantee that no one will keep this on his/her phone for more than a week. It is simply proof of concept. You can view the OS on your computer, but you must use WiFi. Other similar ports *cough* Vibrant *cough* lack features such as many graphical apps, but this strives to be as fully featured as possible. All apps should run, but don't try to multitask. It's a phone. Not a computer. This is a thinktank because it's not polished enough for me to flat out call it a release. There are many errors and crappy ways of doing things. If you want to help (I don't expect you to; it's futile and useless) run things from terminal and look at the bugs in the README on the desktop.
All directions and credits are hardcoded in. If you read the outputs of the commands, you will have no problem. However, a starter's guide is below.
Download ubuntu.zip and unzip it
Mount your sd card to your computer
Copy the ubuntu folder to your sd card *!THIS TAKES UP 2 GIGABYTES!* and it will take a while to copy.
Unmount your sd card, but keep your phone connected to your computer
Open an adb shell (adb shell if you have the binaries installed, ./adb shell in the tools folder of the sdk if you don't have them installed)
cd /sdcard/ubuntu
su (also grant superuser rights on the phone when it pops up)
sh ./ubuntu.sh (errors are common, but you will receive the directions to type 'bootlinux' if everything succeeded)
bootlinux
Follow the directions on screen! To use a command line, root@localhost# means that you have access. To use a gui:
cat gui (and then follow the directions)

So there is an update coming to our phones, but it only fixes these issues? We have so many more than these!

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a big disappointment for me. As reported in the "known issues" leaked document, you cannot view a PDF from the standard e-mail client. You have to save the attachment to SD then use a file explorer to find the file and view it. A huge pain!

I'm using GLSurfaceView to create a simple OpenGL drawing application. Since the elements drawn in each frame must remain on screen in order to be composed into the whole drawing, I don't use gl.glClear(GL10.GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT) at the beginning of each frame. But not clearing the color buffer leads to substantial flickering. Is there any way to eliminate flickering while still not clearing the screen at the beginning of each frame?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHad my desire on charge last night as usual, woke up in middle of the night, hit the button on the top of the desire so i could see the time, but rather than the screen lock appearing my homepage appeared but it was rapidly flashing between that and a white screen and was unresponsive. I have the spinning earth and moon live wallpaper for weeks now and the moon was moving back and forth a tiny amount much like when you press pause on an old VCR.
After a few seconds swiping with my finger it eventually responded and the flickering went but came back when i swiped screens once more. i unplugged it from the charger and it did it again.
I then took the battery out and put it back in and since then it seems to be working normally. I also noted that the clock had been frozen at 00.15, when i resolved the prob it jumped to the true time of 03.30. 00.15 was probably about the time i put it on charge so has plugging it in caused it to lock up?
For some strange reason everynow & then my Desire has some background noise when browsing. I'm not using wi-fi, just my data. It's happening now as I type.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was using the camera this morning and after a few seconds the screen started flickering, it then turned a shade of purple and the view split so the bottom of the picture appeared at the top. I rebooted the phone and it was fine for about 30 seconds and then did the same. Second reboot and it appears to be ok. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? All software is as standard the phone has not been rooted (yet).

But little droidy is sick ): The screen is constantly banding and flickering, sometimes at different strengths. At points it's hard to look at the screen and hurts your eyes. I heard this happened with the Droid X's as well. Sadly, the day after I got my Droid 2, my 30-days (I got it at best buy) to exchange the phone ran up :<
Is there anything I can do so they can exchange this? They sold me a defective product for $200! D: I think they should listen and give me a working model.

i cracked my Samsung Galaxy s3 screen and the screen was on working fine but i bought a kit to replace the screen and now i get no display on my samsung galaxy s3 i can charge my phone and Green led pops up i can also hear the volume as i turn it up and i can connect to computer as well but i cant see no display? Also phone was rooted to jellybean 4.3 if that makes a difference.

I dropped my phone for the first time ever today, and there are cracks under the screen, and no picture whatsoever. Sounds and buttons still work, and I can turn the phone on and off, but the display remains utterly blank. I've pretty much written the phone off, there's probably nothing I can do for it. However, I would love to recover my pictures, contacts, and music from the phone. Is there any way I can do this without being able to see the phone display?

When I tried to switch it on, the screen became black, but i noticed that the screen turns on because it is not complete black, i noticed a bit of light change. And the most amazing is that I can ear the sound of the music of boot, and the tactile buttons are also with light.

It seems it may be APP related because when I KILL my apps with the Advanced Task Killer it doesn't happen as often.
ALL the Apps are the same Apps that were on my previous phone (Samsung Captivate) which never did this. There are no NEW Apps on this phone.
Software is current and up to date as it was downloaded within 5min after un-packaging the phone.
Lately my phone has made it a habit of showing a black screen when I open an app. At first it was just one app that I could not open, and now most apps have this problem. It is very difficult as even my contacts and messages aren't showing. Also sometimes it starts buzzing with no reason.
I have tried to re install some of the apps, however this did not work.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S7500.
The power button doesn't turn off my screen, instead it takes me home (launcher).

i was listening to music on my samsung galaxy sII and then it stopped and turned black , i removed the battery and placed it again , after that it was stuck in the samsug boot logo where it started to show samsung multiple times , i did the same thing remove and place the battery and after that it just turned black and doesn`t turn on again or even charge.
