View 3 RepliesI've just got my new Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone which looks awesome. I had been using a Nokia N97 Mini which had behaved OK and I've been using Joikuspot as a WIFI tether which is important because of my need for the internet during the day. I was really please to find that the Galaxy has an inbuilt tether application in the Mobile AP however I cannot get it to work and wondered if any one else had any issues? The Mobile AP kicks in ok and I can find it on my laptop however when I try to connect it just tells me that it cannot connect and goes into trying to diagnose the problem. I tried to bypass this by inputting the wireless connection manually but when I do it tells me the security option is wrong but does this for every option in the list.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhich is better out of the 2 and why? Both have key differences and some may or may not like the depending on what differences they prefer. Main differences I can think of are these:
- Galaxy s is thinner while the Epic has the Qwerty slider
- Epic has a flash for the camera and Wimax connectivity
- Software wise, the Epic is missing a lot of features of touch wiz. There are more differences like design of the phones, theirf networks, etc. But I don't have time to list them all right now.
As i just said before, I was updating my Galaxy S I9000 when it just got to the last notch on updating, and it failed. Now my phone when i turn it on, Goes to a screen with a phone then *!* warning sign to computer. What do i need to do here?

SCH i500 with 2.3.5 firmware
Bb is S:i500.04 K.E120
Kernel is 2.6.35.7
Build is SCH I500.E120
ive done a reset that didnt work, it doesnt happen all the time it just seems to have a mind of its own.
I just used a clockwork mod to root my Showcase(on revol wireless), and that part worked fine. However, I did a back up and flashed a cyanogen mod (version 7 something I think), that was ported to my phone. However, it was buggy when I got in and the sms would only send blank messages and the data was iffy. I went to restore my phone to the backup, and at first it went through and rebooted. During the boot, it just paused on the samsung logo, and it stayed that way for over 15 minutes. When I went to go back to the recovery mode, it received errors mounting the cache and what not. Now it refuses to boot at all and gives me the phone connected to the pc with the triangle and exclamation mark in the middle. It will still show the downloading mode, but even when I tried a different pda file in odin, it won't actually do anything. What can I do to try to get my phone working again?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI opted not to pay the monthly charge for insurance, so I want to get a case. I think a rubberized/silicon molded case would be best. I don't see any after a quick search of Amazon. I'm also gonna put a Zagg Invisishield on it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an unlocked international version of samsung galaxy S GT-i9000. I was able to use it with at&t sim card quite happily till now. Even the 3g worked on it. But from yesterday the at&t service keeps disconnecting after using for few hours. The network bars at the top right disappear and a blue disconnected sign appears. I cannot make a call or receive a call till I reboot my phone. In settings->about phone I see that the "Service" shows "Not in Service". When I reboot it gets back to "In Service". My unlocked phone boots with T-mobile preset settings - is this problem because of that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 phone with Gingerbread 2.3.3 version installed by default.
I tried to install Jelly Bean ROM 4.1.2 version but could not succeed.
I have tried out the below steps-
1) Phone was unrooted, so rooted it and checked using Root Checker app.
2) Downloaded zip file for Jelly Bean ROM and tried installing it, but getting some error as "No space left on the device"
If I want the full international version of SGS (with ffc), is it compatible with any US carrier for 3G frequencies?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to install the latest Froyo update on my new galaxy i9000 and ran into problems. The update was JP3. First the phone kept on flashing i.e. screen off and on. and then i had to reboot the phone and same problem. I tried to flash it again with odin but this time I got an error message:
Update Media please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:"
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions
copy default media content failed.
When I boot it moves past the Galaxy I9000m screen shows me the galaxy screen with animation and sound, the screen then goes of leaving me with a black screen and the buttons lit.
Now, no matter what I do I kept on getting this message. I have a feeling that somehow it messed up the internal sd card of my device.
Is there a way I could repartition my card (if that would solve it) and then reinstall a froyo 2.2 update.

I have a Samsung galaxy s i9000.
Kernel: 3.1.10 devil2

Version: IMM76D
Android version: 4.0.4
I've tried using an old version that I installed with Odin but without success...
I am having problem with performance of SQLite database in Android application in Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 device. The database contains 10 tables with 3 - 8 columns each.
As soon as a database file gains about 400 KB update/instert queries need much more time to execute - 2 seconds! In comparision to other devices (HTC Magic, HTC Desire) update/insert queries take about 40 msec !
The database file is located in application data directory. Moving database file to sd card increases the speed significantly.
Periodic ANALYZE and VACUUM commands do not affect the speed. As well as PRAGMA cache_size command.
Do you have any ideas how to improve the performance? for keeping the database in sd card or splitting the database into many files containing one table each.
The problem is when I install apps (apk's or from google play ) they are installed on internal memory (2GB) and this caused many problems for me . I want my apps to be installed directly by default on usb storage ( 13.20GB)
Note I dont have micro sd in my device ...
In apps ... i tried ( move to sd card ) but it didn't work i assume for not having sd card in the device ? right I tried also programs like move to SD or something it didn't work.
I want apps to be installed directly on the biggest memory ( usb storage (13.20 gb) not the small internal one (2gb).

View 27 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if you could help me find the best case for my Galaxy S. Here's what I had in mind:
1) I'd like it to be of a rubbery material, because I don't want to risk breaking the phone in case I drop it on the floor.
2) I'd like the material to have some thickness to it. I don't mind the extra bulk as long as my phone's protected.
3) It'd be nice if the case's screen borders were somewhat higher than the screen (something like 3mm) just in case my phone falls face down. To me this is a very important thing
4) My phone has the retractable TV antenna so it'd be nice if the case was open on the corner. This is the most difficult thing to find as most variations of the Galaxy S don't have such a thing.
5) Must ship to Brazil. :-)
I did come across Zenus, which seemed good but from the pictures I've seen it looks like the screen's borders are virtually flat, so they give you no protection if your phone falls face down. Could this be just an impression from the picture, or is it really like that?
A friend of mine rooted my samsung mobile Galaxy S I9000 with a android 2.2 version. I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have?
2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up?
3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
Has anybody found a good case for the Galaxy? The one that comes in the box is pretty hideous, so I would like a nice one, preferably one that can be left on like an iPhone silicon one to protect the device.

But it only boots into recovery mode. What I can do?

So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
