General :: Bricked Samsung Galaxy S Showcase SCH-I500?
Mar 9, 2013
I just used a clockwork mod to root my Showcase(on revol wireless), and that part worked fine. However, I did a back up and flashed a cyanogen mod (version 7 something I think), that was ported to my phone. However, it was buggy when I got in and the sms would only send blank messages and the data was iffy. I went to restore my phone to the backup, and at first it went through and rebooted. During the boot, it just paused on the samsung logo, and it stayed that way for over 15 minutes. When I went to go back to the recovery mode, it received errors mounting the cache and what not. Now it refuses to boot at all and gives me the phone connected to the pc with the triangle and exclamation mark in the middle. It will still show the downloading mode, but even when I tried a different pda file in odin, it won't actually do anything. What can I do to try to get my phone working again?

So I inherited this wonderful phone not knowing anything about it. Basically I wanted to put ICS on it but I can't...
- Computers do not detect it via USB when plugged in now (it did before). It does charge perfectly though so it's not a connection issue
- Can connect to KIES via Wi-Fi
- Download mode gets stuck. It just says Downloading... and stays there
The phone was originally Bell Canada but it's unlocked and works with my Rogers SIM.
It's currently running Android Version 2.3.3 on Baseband I9100MUGKG2
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2-CL371789 dh130.yoo@SEP-48 #2
Build Number GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
*#1234*
PDA: I9100MUGKG2
PHONE: I91000MUGK2
CSC: I9100MBMCKG2
BUILD INFO: TUE JUL 12 10:19:43 KST 2011
The phone actually runs fine and all the regular cellular services work just fine. I just can update it to ICS or connect it to a computer USB (to transfer files etc. or do whatever). What can I do to correct this? Or is this thing stuck on this OS version and the way it is forever?

I was able to root my device correctly .. The issue started when I tried to install CWR by odin.. got into a starter loop or logo loop?
I then used my google fu to try and rectify the problem and ended up bricking it. But It can go into the down load mode. .

I had to write this up again cause my browser tab hung when I hit 'preview'. I couldn't even copy the text. Other tabs were working fine though. Is this XDA's fault or my browser (Chrome)? Anyway, teaches me to always write stuff up in Notepad first. So, onto the problem...
1. Some months ago, I flashed MIUI into my device, was working fine. I do the regular Friday night developer updates, although the notification doesn't always come up so I could've missed a few.
2. About 4 or 5 days ago, opening an application or sms started yielding the error message "android.process has stopped unexpectedly [FORCE QUIT] [WAIT]". I can sometimes get around this by fiddling around (rebooting, turning wifi/data on and off etc). It buys me just enough time to complete the task, but then the issue starts again. Phone calls don't yield this error, though.
3. Then today, I rebooted my device and it got stuck in an endless loop on the MIUI logo screen. Obviously this is related to the errors I've been getting. I booted into recovery and backed up my data to the internal SD. I don't believe the backup completed though. From memory, an error may have come up. It still, however, created a date stamped backup file.
4. Tried to restore the backup file, "missmatched MD5 checksum". Tried to restore an earlier backup, same thing. Tried some other restore options such as restore boot, restore data, restore system etc, still same thing.
5. Then I read that clearing the dalvik cache may fix the issue, so I went into advanced options and cleared the dalvik cache, rebooted, now my phone won't turn on, nor will it boot into recovery mode. It will, however, boot into download mode.

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G and then decided to unroot it. I was using Odin3 v1.85 and about half way through it failed and the phone restarted. Instead of booting into the OS is just displayed a message saying
Quote:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again
. When I put it into Downloaded Mode it says
Quote:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i9100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
And when I plug it in to to my computer to try to unroot it again, it would not recognize the phone, it did not appear in device manager. I tried two different cables, two different computers, and re-installed the drivers.

I'm in Canada and my service provider is Rogers, however I bought the phone in Hong Kong. At first, I rooted my Galaxy S i9000 so I can remove the stock apps, but I couldn't seem to unroot it so I flashed the firmware. At first it said "failed" so I had to reboot it back into download mode to start the flashing again. I forgot to put on the back cover during the flash and the battery fell out. Now when I turn on my Galaxy S, it stays on the welcome screen where it says "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung" and does not do anything. Is my phone bricked and what can I do to fix it?

last week i decided to install cyanogenmod on my phone.Im using international version of Galaxy Note GTN7000.
I saw there was a windows installer on cm website..but wanted to make a backup of my current rom..
i rooted my phone using kingo android root..installed rom manager..flashed latest clockworkmod recovery..
but on booting into recovery,i found stock recovery was being forced..i read somewhere it was because of unlocked bootloader..
on cyanogenmod wiki page,i found installation of clockworkmod recov using heimdall..everything went fine ...blue progress bar was shown in the download mode...and when i rebooted into recovery mode i saw the first danger sign..there was a yellow triangle beneath galaxy note logo..
and then it booted into clockworkmod recovery 5.8..Foolishly i did a system backup..rebooted...surprised to find phone went into black screen after displaying a note logo with yellow triangle beneath..tried recovery from clockworkmod without hope but that didnt work as expected...
All i need now is to install cyanogenmod 10.1.3 stable on my device..i dont want a custom rom backup anymore..'

This version of Karmic (9.10) Ubuntu was made for desktops. It is not a mobile OS and has no phone/text apps. It runs as a completely separate OS that displays on your phone. While this OS does run "natively", you can only see the lxde gui through a VNC viewer. The filesystem file stays on your sd card. Installing with the install script does not fully install the OS to your phone, but rather allows you to boot and run with commands from /system/bin instead of the ones placed in /sdcard/ubuntu Any changes made can be reversed by typing rm -rf /sdcard/ubuntu in a shell/terminal or deleting that folder from root explorer/astro. While this can do no harm to your phone whatsoever, it can freeze it and hog the cpu completely. I can guarantee that no one will keep this on his/her phone for more than a week. It is simply proof of concept. You can view the OS on your computer, but you must use WiFi. Other similar ports *cough* Vibrant *cough* lack features such as many graphical apps, but this strives to be as fully featured as possible. All apps should run, but don't try to multitask. It's a phone. Not a computer. This is a thinktank because it's not polished enough for me to flat out call it a release. There are many errors and crappy ways of doing things. If you want to help (I don't expect you to; it's futile and useless) run things from terminal and look at the bugs in the README on the desktop.
All directions and credits are hardcoded in. If you read the outputs of the commands, you will have no problem. However, a starter's guide is below.
Download ubuntu.zip and unzip it
Mount your sd card to your computer
Copy the ubuntu folder to your sd card *!THIS TAKES UP 2 GIGABYTES!* and it will take a while to copy.
Unmount your sd card, but keep your phone connected to your computer
Open an adb shell (adb shell if you have the binaries installed, ./adb shell in the tools folder of the sdk if you don't have them installed)
cd /sdcard/ubuntu
su (also grant superuser rights on the phone when it pops up)
sh ./ubuntu.sh (errors are common, but you will receive the directions to type 'bootlinux' if everything succeeded)
bootlinux
Follow the directions on screen! To use a command line, root@localhost# means that you have access. To use a gui:
cat gui (and then follow the directions)
Read every readme that you can find
How to set up a localhost VNC server with no network lag.

This is a big disappointment for me. As reported in the "known issues" leaked document, you cannot view a PDF from the standard e-mail client. You have to save the attachment to SD then use a file explorer to find the file and view it. A huge pain!
I was sure hoping yesterday's update would fix this issue, but it did not.
If VZW and Sammy hope to make this phone a contender in the business market, this must be fixed. Email 101 guys.
I know I can use Touchdown, but don't like how it integrates with the rest of the phone.
I was pleased to see pinch and zoom on the email client, unlike the Droid X/2, but this lack of PDF attachment viewing is just unacceptable!

After several attempts trying to apply Lag Fix, my phone ended up doing endless boot loops and due to my ROMs being on the SD Card instead of Internal SD, I could not flash it and seem to not have access to somehow get the ROM file from External to Internal SD. I then tried to restore the Stock ROM through Odin and it failed miserably, with several stalls that eventually led to the screen shown below. This screen stays on when I press the power button and nothing else seems to work. Removing SIM and SD Cards also did nothing.Phone is still under warranty and I have insurance, but not sure if I can claim warranty in its current state.

I can get it into recovery mode but I would like to save some pics and vids that I have on the internal SD card. Anyway to save files before I Odin flash this thing? Droid explorer sees the phone but wont show the paths/files.

I uploaded a custom rom on my xperia x10, for that i unlockd the bootloader and stuff..
Now, my phone is switched off since 15 days, when ever i try to switch it on, it vibrates once and nothing at all afterwards...if i press power button again, it won't vibrate, unless and untill i remove the battery and reinsert it in phone..
i see three red flashes of light, when connected to PC..
1. PC Companion for update, repair and custom repair is not working...most of the time phone is not detected..
2. SE-update service is also not working and phone is shown as Xperia arc..
3. Flashtool, doesn't recognize the handset
4. few, technician told me box flash would work, but again, it didn't work out
Now, i don't know much about this, but i do understand that hardware seems to be good, till now, the only issue is software and that to initial boot process i.e. bootloader.
is there any other way i can upload a new custom rom on my xperia ??

I have a [Gen2] ZTE v9 Tab which had 2.2 as the stock OS which I managed to get upgraded to 2.3 using modcore everything was gr8. I pushed my luck little further and tried to install Android ICS in order to do that I did a TPT using image file and after doing that my tab is bricked.
It's not booting into the OS I tried to get into the FTM mode but that doesn't work now only thing that work's is the ADB I tried the recovery methods that can be done through ADB but it says "sh:/sbin/recovery xxxx" missing.
What I think is that the system partition was recreated and Is there any way that I can get the system files on to the tab using ADB or a way to copy entire directory on to the tab using the ADB.
Got the system to boot to FTM but when I try to flash it the software fails and gives a error "Failed to Get aprmg x x x " some thing like that if there's a way to skip this I'll be able to get my tab back to working condition.

I got an HTC Explorer around a month ago and quickly found out how useless it was with the miniscule amount internal storage HTC decided to provide me with. So I quickly found jaggyjags' rooting tutorial found here: http:[url]....
All went well and I was happy with the phone, until some of the apps started bloating and I went a little too far with link2sd and tried to convert the com.htc app into a user app, which ended disastrously. Pretty much every process failed or had an error, so I tried restarting the phone and found myself in a boot-loop.
I then succesfully got into HBOOT and then into recovery. So I decided to try installing jaggyjags' custom ROM. After taking out my SD card to connect to my computer and copy jaggyjags' rom to, I got back into HBOOT, but could not get into recovery anymore. All the phone did was get stuck on the HTC screen.
After leaving it on the screen to see if it would eventually make it to recovery, I discovered that the phone is now dead and won't even charge. I'm not sure if it's because the battery might be dead or some other reason.

I have tried going into recover mode and it will show the android unboxing but a few seconds later it goes back to the LG logo. I don't want to say its completly bricked as i do get the LG logo.
