Aug 26, 2010All these days i used to test my application on my HTC Legend (2.1 OS) only, and i had all my images resources in drawable-hdpi folder.. and everything worked fine
and today i wanted to test my Application on Android 1.5, so i recreated all the images with lower resolution and kept it under drawable-mdpi folder, so now i have High resolution images in drawable-hdpi folder and lower resolution images in drawable-mdpi folder..
Everything looked great on both the HTC Legend and Emulator(with Android 1.5)
Later i found out that the images in drawable-mdpi are shown in my HTC Legend too and not the images in drawable-hdpi in my manifest file i have also included <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" /> <supports-screens android:anyDensity="true" />
I want to know as to why the images in drawable-hdpi are not used?
Android :: Drawable From Mdpi Loading Instead Of Hdpi
Apr 29, 2010I have set up my project with different drawable directories (ldpi, mdpi and hdpi). I have a background png with two different resolutions: 320x480 in drawable-mdpi folder, and 480x800 in drawable-hdpi. Both have the same filename. When I try to load the background as a style in the manifest (using android:windowBackground in the style) if I use the emulator for a 1.6 device, I get the correct one loaded(mdpi). However, if I try this on my Nexus, I see that at first the correct background from the hdpi folder is loaded, but it quickly switches to the mdpi one. I have tried also to set up the background in the layout xml file (android:src=...) but in this case only the mdpi one is loaded. If I delete the mdpi version, everything is loaded ok. Any idea on what is the problem?

Jul 22, 2010The problem I am having is that when I run a FWVGA or WVGA sized emulator it sometimes runs at a MDPI size instead of HDPI. Here is an example with pictures. I create the AVD with the proper hw.lcd.density setting and screen size and it randomly does this. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. I used to be able to just delete the AVD and create it over again and it would fix itself for a while but now it's getting worse.

Feb 15, 2010Im trying to do some testing with a QVGA emulator and I find that it looks for an image resource in the mentioned order.
drawable-mdpi 1st
drawable-hdpi 2nd
drawable-ldpi 3rd (it does get found only after i change the name of the image in the other two dirs for testing)
I would expect it to be ldpi first.
When running other emulators (HVGA and WVGA) they use their appropriate drawable dirs... its only QVGA. The only code that I see could affect this is here (based on the docs)
I have tested this with a 2.0 emulator and a 1.6, i get the same result.

Jun 2, 2010I read about in the google documents that the 3 folders corresponds to different screen types and that android would select the image from different folders automatically according to the screen type. I read that WVGA will load from drawable-hdpi and HVGA will load from drawable-mdpi. When I tested with 2 emulators both running 2.1, each with HVGA and WVGA. It turns out that they are both reading the image in mdpi. If I deleted the image in mdpi then they read from hdpi. Can someone answer why emulator with WVGA is reading from drawable- mdpi?

I hate sending 2-3MB emails.
It is one of the few things iOS has going for it IMO.
I like taking High Res pics, but I shouldn't have to resize the master pic before sending... It is too many steps.
Has no one made the app to allow more of this iOS experience?

Oct 11, 2012I like having big icons on my phone but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that. It seems the only launcher that will let me resize the icons is Go Launcher but I find it to be bulky and cumbersome is there any other launcher out there that will let me resize or even an app which will do it for me? I've used desktop visualizer to no avail and I'm pretty sure I've gone through most of the more popular launchers but was unable to find a resize option in them.
My phone is unrooted and I'm using a Xperia Pro.

I need more room (it's only 512MB) to install apps.
Well, the APP disk space (nand partition) is very small and the internal "sdcard" too big.
When I install a few applications the space runs out and the system becomes unstable.
I need to increase the nand and decrease internal sdcard to gain more room to my apps...
Well, I started the process by using the tools:
1) To unpack/repack: imgRePacker_204
2) The image ROM: sun7i_android_sugar-cubieboard2-8192cu.img (Android 4.2.2)
3) To burn to flash: PhoenixSuit1.0.6
unpacking the ROM creates a folder named sun7i_android_sugar-cubieboard2-8192cu.img.dump
So, somewhere in internet I see to change the sys_partition.fex file, and search the system nand partition:

so, I change 1048576 to 2097152 (2097152 * 1024 = 2GB)
but :
1) In installed android, the system has only 512MB and not 1GB as show.

(all unpak, change, pack, flash process is fine ! )

1. mmcblk0p1 1024 ebr1
2. mmcblk0p2 10.00 MB protect_f ->EXT4
3. mmcblk0p3 10.00 MB protect_s ->EXT4
4. mmcblk0p4 750.00 MB android ->EXT4
5. mmcblk0p5 376.00 MB cache ->EXT4
6. mmcblk0p6 1.20 GB usrdata ->EXT4
7. mmcblk0p7 1.27 GB fat ->VFAT
Now, mmcblk0p7 (1.27 GB of vFAT) partition is used as sdcard1 but I also have a 8GB of mnt/sdcard partition. So, the mmcblk0p7 partition is totally useless in my phone. My questions are:
1. Can I add/merge mmcblk0p7 partition with mmcblk0p6 (/data) partition?
2. Or, Can I re-size/increase my mmcblk0p6 (/data) partition from mmcblk0p7
3. Or, Can I make the mmcblk0p7 as a swap partition like linux OS?

Jan 27, 2012I frequently email pictures from my phone. My iphone used to allow me to select a few pictures and send them. It would automatically resize so that recipients didn't get huge files.
I have not to date found a way to do this on android. I can go into quick pik or other programs and resize a picture manually... then select several and email.. but this is cumbersome and results in duplicates of my pictures in my gallery. I can't easily tell which is the big picture file and which is the small.
Is there a program out there that will automatically resize and send multiple pictures? This could be a separate program that sends to gmail or an email program itself.
