i have a HTC Desire 601 with Virgin Mobile (in canada) and i tried to flash a custom rom, and it didnt work, i got an error 7, i tried several rom and all i got is a error 7.now i want to go back to a stock rom , but every time i think i have a good stock rom, i get an error 7.

In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory). This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake.The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com.I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet.

Easiest method to have this recovery for a rooted phone is below.
1.Install mobile uncle tools from Play Store.
2. Place the recovery.img provided in root of SD card.( Rename the recovery file as simply RECOVERY.IMG)
3. open mobile uncle tools and flash the recovery.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was sleeping so wonderfully at 1:30 in the mourning when my phone rang, but the odd part is. I had no notifications, nor was I receiving any calls. To make things weirder my phone made ring that was not even set as my ringtone and wasnt even a ringtone. To describe it, it sounded like a standard digital ring with a frequency at what i could guess 750hertz and it only rang once. Another odd thing is after that it seemed to have put my phone on vibrate. What is going on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Gentle Alarm as my clock, and I want a way to have just Gentle Alarm without any other apps running, and without even being able to run anything else. Basically, I want to convert my smartphone into a dumb alarm clock at night, and make it so that I have to reboot it to start messing with email, twitter, etc.
The reason I don't use a regular "dumb" alarm clock (which is ideal for me, really) is that I need something that vibrates and doesn't ring.
I tried to Google this but just kept getting results about what phones have what Rom updates and how to update apps.
The recent updates to the Trillian app are pretty terrible, I and many others are choosing to stick with the older version. Problem is I have many apps installed on this phone. I am no longer able to hit "UpdatecAll" as I do not want the Trillian app to update, so I am forced to manually open the page for each app that has an update and update them one-by-one. A very annoying and tedious processes, especially since if I wait so much as a week there can be up to 20 updates to install.
Is there any way I can somehow block this one app from being updated or put it on a no update lust or something?
I don't like to have my apps auto-update.
Any app that would allow me to keep a single string available at all times, so that with a key combination I can paste it whenever I want? I don't want a password manager or a bells-and-whistles clipboard app, I just want one single password available to paste whenever I need to.

I would like to be able to consolidate all these images into a single directory that will be opened by the standard Gallery app. I have used a file manager to move .jpg and other files into the /DCIM/Camera directory, but the Gallery app does not show them. I have done the following things that I have seen in other threads but none of them seem to have worked
1. Checked to ensure notifications were on
2. Installed handcent and made it my default SMS client (got notification of SMS from my wife)
3. Uninstalled handcent and reverted to the stock SMS app (did not receive notification from my wife)
4. Installed Textra and made it my default SMS client (got notification of SMS from my wife)
5. Uninstalled Textra and reverted to the stock SMS app (did not receive notification from my wife)
6. Disable Messaging App
7. Rebooted Phone
8. Re-enable Messaging App
I want to install 2 copies of fb messenger, 1 for each of my 2 accounts......how can I make this possible......I tried decompiling the app, changing app name in manifest.xml and again recompiling. the app installs but when I try to open this, it force closes with an unexpected error......
I know many would suggest to use different messengers for different accounts....others will refer use of multiple profiles of titanium backup.....

I downloaded the Handcent App and even it does the same thing as the stock app. It appears there's an option to split the message up as described when sent to a group. But it still creates the new thread whenever sending to individual names.
I'm having issues receiving text messages from a single contact.I'm using the Huawei X1 - running Subpsyke's latest rom. I use GoSMS.The thread I speak of has 5522 messages in it - and I am unable to recieve messages. They send fine and I can't get them.
I believe that this may be because of the huge thread size. Is there any way of preserving these messages but creating a second, new thread for the same contact?

1) Buy accident, within a conversation, I hit reply all, which created a draft. I want to delete that singular draft message, but I see no way of doing it, short of deleting the entire conversation or going to a computer to do it. (Come to think of it, I don't see a way to delete any of the emails within a conversation). Am I missing something on how to delete a single email within a conversation?
2) on an email thread, when I hit "previously read messages", it shows the messages in oldest to newest order, meaning I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the latest emails from a conversation. Is there a way to change the sort?

When sending an email, NOT Gmail, and I select the recipient from my contacts, it automatically picks up the default email address that was selected for that contact within the contact manager. Several of my contacts have more than one email address and I need to be able to choose which address to send to. The thing is, I see no option to do so when selecting the contact in the email message. The only way around this that I can see is to have separate contact entries for each email address. That would mean I could have four or more contact entries for each person. Totally not acceptable.
So, am I missing something here? Is there a way to select which email address you want to send to when creating a message? Or do I have to go in and change the default email address within the contact before I compose my emails?

I then went to a friends house who had an at @ t Motorola Atrix, with I think droid 2.3.4 on it. My friends drop down menu had a minus button on the right of the notification to delete it. That is exactly what I'm looking for. Any app or some way to set this in my (Rooted) phone?

most programs that have a single icon widget, end up taking up 2 tiles vertically. some 2x1's end up taking up 2x2. Here's some examples:
The task killer icon, and juice plotter should be taking up one tile, and they're taking up two.
The battery status icon is taking up four tiles, and should only take up two.
So how do I address this?
I suppose the next question, is it sane to try to get the vanilla launcher on here? Or should I just wait for a full cyanogen release for it?
I need to rebuild libmedia.so from CM10.1 because I want to make some minor modifications for reasons I won't go into detail here because that's a whole other story. I've researched online and it seems I need to use repo sync [URL] .... I tried doing that to get the android source the other day but stopped after 20 min when I realised the entire source tree is around a gigantic 8-10GB. This is bad as I live in Australia where every MB counts and I'm only on a 30GB/month plan!
Which brings me to my first quesiton, how big is the CM 10.1 source tree?
If not too big, I might be able to download it all, but I really only need to rebuild libmedia.so [URL] .... and I think I'll need the source for it's dependencies (from my limited understanding about shared libs).
